The Evo Stand at Autosports Show
We're here at the Autosports show and we have a stand set up with some incredible cars on display, including our test car for this year's magazine. The car that caught our attention is indeed the broadly Lola, which has been featured in Track Car of the Year. We've had the pleasure of testing it in the magazine and are excited to share more about its performance.
The paint job on this Lola is absolutely stunning. The dark blue with gold writing is a beautiful combination that really makes this car stand out. We can see why this car was chosen for our feature in Track Car of the Year, as it's clear that attention has been paid to every detail. Of course, there are many other classic cars on display here at the Autosports show, including a reimagined Jaguar Nobby Recreation.
The Jaguar Nobby Recreation is a truly beautiful car, and we're thrilled to see it for the first time today. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first production of this iconic car in 1954, 10 continuation cars have been produced, each built to a 1958 specification which was the most successful year for the Nobby. We can't help but notice that all 10 cars have already been sold, and it's clear that these special edition cars are highly sought after.
What makes this car so special is that it's been designed using the original Jigs and drawings from George Lista engineering, with some of the old people who actually built the original cars coming back to help with the project. This attention to detail really shows in the finished product, which features a full-spec 3.8 racing Gardner engine, gearbox, and disc brakes. The wishbones at the front and rear axle give it a classic look that's unmistakable.
One of the most interesting stories behind this car is its connection to Brian List, who was one of the drivers for the Nobby in the 1950s. According to the story, Brian was working for his father in the company when he decided he wanted to build a racing car. His father gave him six months to complete it, and fortunately, he did just that. This led to the creation of the Nobby Recreation, which is now being produced again as a limited edition.
In addition to the 10 continuation cars, three more special editions are being produced in honor of Brian List, Sterling Moss, and Arch Scott Brown - the creators and two most famous drivers of the car, respectively. The prices for these special editions have already been sold out, with each one fetching a price tag of £350,000.
What would you recreate if you could build one of the cars from the 1950s or 1960s and give it a modern R production run? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
