HotHardware and Corsair Back To School Gaming PC Giveaway System Build

Building a Corsair BackToch School System Giveaway: A Comprehensive Guide

Hello everybody, Marco Chapeta for hot Hardware here want to thank you for stopping by to check out this build video for our Corsair back Toch school system giveaway. We've had the parts in hand for a little while now so it's time to get this thing built up and shipped out to the winner. We've got some beautiful Corsair Dominator Ram, a Corsair h80 liquid cooler, an hx850 power supply, a Force GS SSD, and it's all going to be wrapped up in a beautiful Corsair 600t case in silver.

Let's take a look at the motherboard, processor, and memory quickly. This is an Intel Extreme Board model DZ 77 ga-70 K, it's based on the Z77 Express chipset and sitting in its socket here's the Core i7 2600K processor. We'll do a little bit overclocking later but I'm going to leave all that fun to the system winner and just behind it is the Corsair Dominator Platinum memory. This is by far the heaviest memory I've ever pulled out of a package, that's 16 gigs total right there uh this stuff is built like a tank I haven't fired it up just yet to see what it'll do uh but these particular sticks run at 1866 MHz and they look just great sitting there in the dim slots.

Next up let's take a look at the solid state drive we'll be putting in the system. This is a 180 gig Corsair Force GS SSD, it's based on a SandForce controller and has high performance toggle Nand flash memory inside. The drive is capable of 555 megabyte reads and 525 megabyte sequential rights so high performance drive here this should make the system feel nice and snappy.

Now let's take a look at the graphics card we'll be putting in the system. This is an HISiS Radon HD 6970 Turbo Edition, it's basically a reference card except for that huge decal on the front. We're not going to spend too much time on this. The 69 7 has been out for a while now and definitely one of the better single GPU cards from a few months ago.

Moving on let's take a look at the CPU cooler and power supply. This is a partially modular Corsair hx850 Professional Series PSU, it's a really nice 850 W power supply and this is the self-contained liquid cooler. The Corsair h80 you see the radiator back here is connected to the cold plate and pump assembly um that should do a nice job keeping the 2600K nice and cool.

Let's not forget about the input devices and the sound we're going to be including with the system. Up here we have the Corsair Vengeance 200000 uh 7.1 Channel gaming headset, really nice wireless gaming headset here we have the Vengeance M90 gaming mouse another great Mouse we have a full review of this up on the site if you want to check it out and here is the k90 mechanical gaming keyboard.

Now that we've taken a look at all the components let's get started with the build. The first step is to mount the SSD into one of its drive trays. I'll just screw it in and run the front mounted cables to the board. Now everything is screwed into place but this side still looks pretty messy, what the heck are we going to do with all that so now the real fun stuff starts.

I have to spend time on each individual cable here and I will show you the finished product in a few minutes that is what you can do with a little time and a whole bunch of wire ties. This is basically everything installed into the case, coolers in there motherboard CPU memory graphics card SSD power supply um all of the cables are kind of routed where they need to go.

Now we're making progress this is basically everything installed into the case, coolers in there motherboard CPU memory graphics card SSD power supply and all of the cables are sort of routed where they need to go. Everything is screwed into place but it still looks a bit messy.

The real test now let's hit the power button and see what happens. And we have ignition alright Joe there she is she is all done I'm going to leave some of the protective plastic on there for you to remove uh plus I don't want to scratch the windows in other shiny spots on the case time to install Windows make sure everything works okay.

And that's it, fully assembled and cleaned up that is the full rig. Got the power supply down there follow it up to the motherboard graphics card you might be able to see the SSD tucked away in there got the ram the water cooler dual fans and barely a cable to be seen but the real test let's hit the power button and see what happens.

And we have ignition all right Joe there she is she is all done. I'm going to leave some of the protective plastic on there for you to remove uh plus I don't want to scratch the windows in other shiny spots on the case time to install Windows make sure everything works okay and we will box her up and ship her out you can expect her in a couple days enjoy

hx850 power supply a force GS SSD and it's all going to be wrapped up in a beautiful Corsair 600t case in silver it's really a good looking system we hope you like how this thing came out so let's take a look at the motherboard processor and memory quickly this is an Intel extreme Board model DZ 77 ga-70 K it's based on the z77 express chipset and sitting in its socket here's the core i7 2600 K except for that huge decal on the front we're not going to spend too much time on this the 69 7 has been out for a while not the fastest card out there but definitely one of the better single GPU cards from a few months ago and here we have the CPU Cooler and power supply this is a partially modular Corsair hx850 Professional Series PSU a really nice 850 W power supply and this is the self-contained liquid cooler the Corsair h80 you see the radiator back here is connected to the cold plate and pump assembly um that should do a nice job keeping the 2600k nice and cool I'm not going the k90 mechanical gaming keyboard this guy is based on Cherry MX red key switches those are linear switches um they are non- click non-tactile and a nice light touch which makes them really great for gaming okay last but not least is the Corsair 600t in a brand new gunmal color this is an absolutely gorgeous case you have easy to remove side panels um easy to clean you know dust filters um fan controller four USB 2 ports a USB 3 Port fire wire headphone microphone jacks nice uh kind of stealth power and reset switches just a beautiful case and plenty of room to work inside there before I get started assembling the system I want to give you a quick look inside the 600t as you can see there's plenty of room to work inside here standoffs already mounted for the motherboard nice big cutout in the motherboard tray should you need to mount a custom cooler and the motherboard is already installed the only thing that's going to be somewhat of a challenge is making all these cables look neat but we'll get to that at the end okay motherboard with memory and CPU are in place really couldn't be any easier the standoffs were already installed so I just popped in the io plate slid the motherboard in place and uh installed a few screws I also installed the retention clips for the h80 cooler uh but first up I got to take that fan out install the cooler and all the mounting accessories and get the uh the Water block mounted on top of the CPU I haven't done any cable management yet but I wanted to show you the h8s radiator installed uh you can see there's two fans in a push pull configuration water blocks installed on the CPU it's a bit of a tight fit between the RAM and the tubes are they're not quite kinked but it is a sharp curve um but you know there is plenty of clearance and I think it's going to be okay okay we're making a little more progress I have the SSD mounted and in one of its driv trays and all of the front mounted cables are run and connected to the board I have not neatened anything up yet I'm just sort of fitting everything into place for now okay so we are definitely making progress this is basically everything installed into the case coolers in there motherboard CPU memory graphics card SSD power supply um all of the cables are kind of routed where they need to go everything is screwed into place but as you can see this side looks pretty good but what the heck are we going to do with all that so now the real fun stuff starts I have to spend time on each individual cable here and I will show you the finished product in a few and
