How long will this broken BMW last with zero repairs (and a skilled test driver)

A Lamborghini Countach Restored to its Former Glory

As we stepped into the garage, our eyes landed on a beautiful Lamborghini Countach that had been brought in for restoration. The car's sleek design and vibrant green color caught our attention, but it was clear that this was not just any ordinary Countach. With only 43,000 miles on it, this car had already seen its fair share of adventures. We asked the owner about the car's history, and he shared with us that it had been used by someone else before being brought to his collection.

As we began our inspection, we noticed a few minor issues with the car's condition. The rear end was slightly saggy, but overall, the car looked like it was in decent shape. However, as we dug deeper, we discovered some more significant problems. The countach had been experiencing engine light issues and other technical difficulties, including a faulty rebuild on the steering rack. Despite these challenges, our restoration team worked tirelessly to bring this beautiful car back to life.

The Countach's transmission was another area of concern. The previous owner had attempted to fix it themselves but ultimately ended up with a broken transmission that needed to be replaced. Our team had to use a high-quality replacement unit, which we sourced from a reputable supplier. We also addressed some minor electrical issues, including faulty wiring and bad grounds.

Despite the challenges, our team's hard work paid off, and the Countach was starting to take shape again. The new ignition system was installed, and we were excited to see how it would perform. The owner had opted for a high-quality MSD ignition unit, which we knew would provide reliable performance. We also addressed some cosmetic issues, including repairing damaged body panels and reupholstering the interior.

As we worked on the Countach, our team couldn't help but notice its impressive features. The car's air conditioning system was another area of focus, as it had been malfunctioning for years. Our team worked to recharge the system and get it working properly again. We also replaced some worn-out parts, including the wiper blades and blower motor.

The final inspection revealed that our team had done an excellent job restoring the Countach to its former glory. The car was now running smoothly, with all systems functioning properly. The owner was thrilled with the results and couldn't wait to take his new Lamborghini out for a spin. We were excited to see how it would perform on the road.

One of our team members jokingly referred to this restoration as "Carmageddon," given the challenges we had faced along the way. However, the end result was well worth the effort. As the owner prepared to take delivery of his new Countach, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. He knew that this car would be his prized possession for years to come.

The journey from the restoration shop to our team member's home in California was about to begin. We had arranged for the Countach to be transported by a trusted friend, Brian Petty, who also happened to own another Lamborghini Countach. The excitement was palpable as we watched the car make its way onto the road.

As we drove away from the shop, our team member couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and accomplishment. He had faced many challenges during the restoration process, but the end result was well worth it. The new Lamborghini Countach was a testament to his hard work and dedication. As he navigated the roads, he felt a sense of pride knowing that this car was in good hands.

The air conditioning was working beautifully, providing a cool breeze on our journey. We also took advantage of the new ignition system, which seemed to be giving the car an extra boost. Our team member joked that it was like a whole new car, and we couldn't argue with him. The Countach's performance had improved significantly since its restoration.

As we continued on our journey, our team member couldn't help but feel grateful for this incredible machine. He knew that he had faced many challenges during the restoration process, but the end result was truly remarkable. The Lamborghini Countach was a car unlike any other, and he felt honored to be driving it.

The experience of restoring the Countach had been an unforgettable one. Our team member had learned so much about this incredible machine and had the privilege of working on such an iconic car. As he drove away from the shop, he knew that this was just the beginning of an exciting new chapter in his life as a Lamborghini owner.

The rest of our team gathered around, congratulating our team member on a job well done. They all agreed that restoring this Countach had been one of the most rewarding experiences they had ever had. The car's sleek design and vibrant green color had captured their hearts from the very beginning.

Finally, we took to the open road for what promised to be an unforgettable experience. With our team member at the wheel, the Lamborghini Countach roared to life, ready to take on the world.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthe seal is about three grand on the engine the valve seals yes and that gets the oil leaks too yeah exactly right off the bat uh the regulators i mean for both of them close to a thousand dollars okay and then since everything's gonna be out it's gonna be easier to fix your suspension so 500 bucks for the suspension so drive this car like you would drive any other car don't worry about any of the lights or anything that may come on it it's fine it leaks but it works just just go that's it that's a very long explanation put on the break to start it put on the brakes to start it welcome movies garage the dumbest automotive channel in all of youtube and today is going to be a fantastic day because i'm going to pick up my lamborghini countage which according to the car wizard is finished and ready for pickup and ready to pay a bill it seems like every time i fix a lamborghini it's a matter of months when it comes to weight even for smaller repairs and it's not the wizard's fault it's usually a bad circumstance of events that causes things to take months but i can't complain now because it's done and done well in time for the countage rally i'm shipping the car to california in a few weeks to go on an amazing uh rally experience hopefully i need to knock on some wood somewhere so it doesn't all go wrong but today is also going to be very fun because we are going to do a little experiment today with bmws but before i get to that let's talk about the mercedes the little key that i had somebody found it in my last video i sent people on a hooptie scavenger hunt to find a key hidden inside of a model car and if they found that key they would get my mercedes s500 coupe and i thought i was going to drop hints over a series of videos days or weeks before somebody actually found it but it only took a few hours so i hid this key in a place where i filmed my very first video on huvi's garage with my manual swapped mercedes 300 sd in the background where i was doing some driving there were these old horse jumps in this neighborhood it used to be a horse ranch and they kept the old equestrian horse jumps in the background somebody saw that first video actually several people did and then checked the footage and saw that it looked like it was the same color same kind of woodwork they went and dug through the mulch and got the key so congrats to craig he's actually a pharmacist that i think works nearby went and found it and actually several people after him went to the exact same spot so with those very very few clues basically i said i'd filmed in this place a long time ago and in a very tight shot of where i buried it several people found it i'm very impressed but anyway the first thing we are going to do today is have a little experiment now i'm known for spending way too much money fixing cars especially bmws and despite me doing all these fixes it seems like they just break again and again and again and yet you see plenty of old mercedes bmws german cars european cars that are very unreliable going down the road seemingly in disrepair and they seem to run like that forever so what happens when you take a car that's neglected and just continue driving you fix the bare minimum of things to keep it going and just kick it on down the road and that's what i'm going to do with the bmw 645ci it's at the carnages right now and we're actually going to give it to someone and a family member of mine and we're just going to see how long it lasts but first let's go pick up the 645. ninja hello you finished all the work the extensive work i authorized on this 645 oh yeah uh it took like less than an hour to finish everything yeah so the only coolant link was this hose right here and an oil change so what do you think of my idea here well i think it's gonna work just fine i think it'll last for a year two years three years maybe four so why even do maintenance hey look at this building someone has to pay for it right it is quite a building but it's a little frustrating i spent all this money fixing cars and they keep breaking but then people who buy a car like this never do anything it just lasts everything works for years right yeah it's just dumb luck i suppose speaking of dumb luck i'm selling the 135 so if you look it over for me make sure it's okay since the track day and i'll take this home and we'll give it to its new rightful owner you found one oh absolutely yes all right i'm back from the ninjas with this lovely piece of german engineering and it is time to give it away and start the experiment you all know my wife ann well this is her cousin joe joe came from vietnam two three years ago and she actually had a car it was wrecked by a bad guy in a police pursuit completely destroyed so her family they're kind of sharing uh one car which isn't working so this is the perfect solution anal translates as i give the instructions but basically joe drive this car like you would drive any other car don't worry about any of the lights or anything that may come on it it's fine it leaks but it works just just go that's it that's a very long explanation okay but she's a good translator but yeah the test is to see how long this bmw would last without any fixes because i spend so much money fixing cars all these cars here and they just break again what happens if you just do absolutely nothing if you just don't care about a car so hop in here you go if you want this back window down you kind of have to do it yourself all right joe here's the key there's three of them some of them work some don't i think that one works good foot on the brake uh to start it no no that's the gas that's the gas pedal put on the brakes to start it there you go all right yeah put it and drive there ignore those chimes and the bmw i drive thing it'll take a while to get that but uh yes buckle your seatbelt all right bye have fun that poor car poor joe the countach is done poor i'm gonna go get the countach i uber to the wizard this time wizard wizard wizard i'm not interested thank you i hope he's interested hey i want a kooks dodge back razor wizard hello sorry yeah you can come on in there's a few hoopties outside the cadillac is it is it fixed yes we got some heavy-duty truck belts on it oh yeah so the belt was squeaking and the ac quit working which was just a loose connection connection came loose is all it was my block waiting on parts from latvia but is this that is your old marauder it is yes it looks a lot nicer than when i had it the headlights are new and clean the paint certainly needs correction but it's my old marauder yeah what's going on with it the gauge cluster has issues we're fixing well his radio went out on him we got an ac compressor to put on wow the window regulator went bad on it on this side these have gotten quite valuable they only made them for a couple years all right all your ferrari's moving along slowly it's been pretty slow lately because we've been so busy but because you've been yachting that might be you're yachting i finally got you back here mentally you're probably not even here you're on your yacht i'm ready for tomorrow more yawning okay well take me through the cars at least before you get on your yacht mentally or physically uh gallardo yeah mirror edition huh wow all black what's going on with that we got both front struts off to be rebuilt the lift portion of them oh yes the axle lift yep well that's very cool well this was not a very fun experience to have two toes within a week on this sl it seemed like it had a big vacuum leak it sounded that way too what was it end up being your catalytic converter just finally just gave up the ghost it got so clogged that it was leaking out of every little joint that i could that was that noise the shh yes because it was so restricted yes interesting okay so what have you done right now we have a test pipe fitted to verify that was the problem and it runs perfect now so we've got a new catalog converter ordered on the way okay so it should sound it sounds a little throat here oh yeah no more hissing noises no no more hissing noises i have noticed over the last couple years that it seemed kind of down on power i barely drive it so i didn't really care but yeah that could be why that very likely was the problem it finally reached a head that it was just not usable anymore on the bridge there it reached the head so this is the head that it reached yep oh my it should be honeycomb like little squares as you can see and then this half on the other side is all clogged inside of there so so if the exhaust is clogged then the exhaust has nowhere to go and back pressure somewhat is good but not that much obviously yeah that was causing some issues well sorry car that's kind of neglectful but oh well um how's the bug eye doing the bug eye is almost done really yep it is just so cute this little austin healey sprites that was leaking from everywhere because it's an old british car and the leaks are solved we got timing cover gasket and all the different gaskets up front front main seal and the leaks are about 90 done there's a very small one from maybe from the rear main seal we'll have to see if it gets worse or whatever okay we did convert it to an electric fuel pump that was your issue with the fuel starvation vapor locking you can see the little red cap over this that's an inertia switch for safety if you get into an accident it'll shut off your fuel pump and there's your fuel pump relay if i get an accident this car is probably the least of my worries but i appreciate you looking out for my safety yeah oh this is this is so cool i'm glad i got it but a little leak i guess it's a british car if it's not leaking it's empty so we should probably leave the one thing leave one little thing leave a little vent for it right right as long as it's not gushing no it doesn't gush or pour anywhere okay well i'm noticing something very green over here yes wow another four five six and it's a gated 456 wizard yes somebody else with taste isn't it beautiful yeah it looks a little saggy in the back though yeah that's one of the issues it's here for check engine light a few other things 43 000 miles so pretty decent miles on this thing too they actually used it but this one hundred thousand mile rolls royce too it's back 150 150 holy moly it runs and drives fine it just keeps nickeling and diving him to death it's just little things keep which is to be expected with that miles certainly been there done that but what i'm here for is actually very very exciting the countach it's done it's alive it's done yeah another journey with these cars these lamborghinis it's insane poor michael are you you're gonna have ptsd when it comes to lambos and things not going right i'll call it a success once you've made it around your hot lap i suppose i am a great test driver but you got annihilated on the diablo because of the bad rebuild on the steering rack that you tried to fix so it was like in and out three times right before we got the new one took months and months uh before michael's around a little bit when you're around we were finishing up the murcielago yeah that was some fun with the transmission yeah used when we bought that uh showed up broken so cutting holes and then this one as michael showed while you were yachting the uh replacement ignition box didn't work two of them right a lot of hair pulling but he still has his hair for now yes and uh the msd ignition yes which was a old hoopty looking msd wizard yes it's in a place that you'll never ever see it as far as concour points behind this carpet here but i was expecting well something newer wizard down in there yeah they don't make the 7227al unit anymore you have to buy a good used one the newer ones they will run the car but the tax it has issues with the tack oh so it's not a v12 thing it's for the tachometer signal and that would be i mean we don't want that so this one is guaranteed is known to work it's been proven to test on multiple different countaches so that's the way i went wonderful well it's all working air conditioning that was the other thing we had no blower action we had no wipers a lot of things didn't work bad wiring bad grounds and we got that all taken care of and it all came alive really yeah and the air conditioner had charge in it yep it had some charge in it but just barely not enough to kick the system over oh so just topping off yeah who would have thought hadn't been driven 150 miles in eight or nine years i drove it more you know broken in the last six months than it had been eight years prior but now now it's sorted you're saying i believe so where's some wood wood wood wood what it is carmageddon it is carmageddon oh yes i'm going to drive this home today during carmageddon month you'll notice that it starts faster oh really yes okay well i guess i'll head off then no we got a bill to pay all right all right how bad is this gonna be i think i spent 1500 entires on the countach already well it's about double that to do all the work we did three thousand dollars yep that was a lot of money that means for under five thousand dollars i sorted out a countach not bad no no not bad considering the condition that it came up here barely running with the magnetic morelli ignition system so that's very nice you're already typing in i guess wizard wants me to stop talking and uh well give him a credit card and then we'll head off in the crew josh it works it works all right kuntaj you got this you just need to behave and then you'll have the time of your life in california wow i could already tell when i just cold started it that it starts so much quicker let it get warmed up a little bit and then i'll give her the beans yes it's getting on the on ramp now and the air conditioning oh my goodness it is good it's wonderful hey this new ignition might have woken up a little bit wow all right fingers crossed fingers crossed needs to make it home go to the detailer last for about an hour to my friend brian petty's house who is transporting with his countach out to california and then we are on the rally you can do it yes you can please thank you so much for watchingthe seal is about three grand on the
