Top Free Webcam Recording Software Alternatives! _ YouTube Capture Option Shutting Down
Free Webcam Options for YouTube Vlogging
Your smartphone is a fantastic tool for vlogging and recording video. If you have a modern smartphone past 2009, you have a pretty decent camera. Modern smartphones actually have really good cameras now. This one is a blue Super C smartphone, but my Galaxy Note 5 has a 4K capable rear camera which I use for Vlogs and certain things. It has 4K video production which is very high quality, and it also has a 1080p front camera for selfie mode recording. You can do pretty decent Vlogs with your front-facing webcam, and this is all you need. Then you can just use your built-in camera app that comes on your phone to record your video and then just go to YouTube and upload it to YouTube from your phone. Pretty simple.
On iOS, I believe they also still have the YouTube capture app which is a separate app designed just to record videos straight from your phone's camera and upload it to YouTube in a more YouTube specific fashion. This is kind of cool but iOS only as far as I know.
Another option for using your laptop's webcam or an external webcam such as one from Logitech is the Tech webcam software that comes free with your webcam. For basic use, this software is great, and you don't have any reason not to use it. It does a decent job for your basic webcam video and Vlog format.
For more advanced users, there are also software options available. One popular option is OBS or open broadcaster software, which is primarily used for people streaming video games on Twitch but I use it all the time to record my desktop and also to record my webcam. This software is a bit complicated to learn to set up but once you learn to set it up, it's pretty reliable for what it does. I have a huge playlist of tutorials for OBS up on my channel link to that playlist will be in the description below. It's completely free always updating always adding new features and you can also learn to stream with it too.
Another option is VirtualDub, which is a much more advanced software for recording video footage from connected devices such as capture cards or webcam. If you look up the proper tutorials to set it up properly, you can record very very high quality webcam videos with it.
Finally, there are also built-in camera apps that come with certain operating systems. For example, on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, these are the actual apps that come with the new versions of Windows. They're actually pretty decent and extremely easy to use. It detects your webcam, you start recording, you stop recording, you can set up a photo timer to take pictures, and it gives you a video file which you can then upload to YouTube very very straightforward very very simple.
Conclusion
Don't fret that YouTube's taken away their built-in webcam recording option. You do have quite a few options to choose from for yourself. Your smartphone, the software that came with your webcam, OBS, VirtualDub, and the Windows 8 or Windows 10 webcam application are all free options. Links to all of these will be in the description below if you want to see any tutorials for specific software such as Logitech webcam software, VirtualDub Etc. leave that comment down below smash the like button if you enjoy it don't forget to subscribe and otherwise guys I will catch you in the next video also if you're curious the shirt came from Barnacles he has a new shirt shop and has the shirt and I couldn't resist
