The Thrill of Racing: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Prelude's Upgrades and Adventures

As we prepare to take our prelude back out on the track, I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. We've been working tirelessly to upgrade and fine-tune our ride, and today was the day we would put it all to the test. The goal was to break the previous personal best of 96 at 161 and see if we could make some significant improvements.

The track was looking a bit damp from the earlier rain showers, but after a quick check-up, everything seemed good to go. I slipped into the driver's seat, feeling a sense of anticipation wash over me as I put the car in gear. The prelude roared to life, and with a smooth acceleration, we began our journey down the track. The initial performance was promising, but it quickly became apparent that the axles were going to be the weak link. Just 161 feet into the run, the rear axle snapped, leaving us to wonder what could have been.

The team sprang into action, jumping out of the car and assessing the damage. We knew we had to act fast to minimize the loss and get the car back on the track as soon as possible. After a quick trip to the parts store, we managed to scrounge up a replacement axle, which was installed with all due haste. last four to five years because the channel is about to be five years old this august it will be like officially about five years that we've been doing this so we've just done so much in that time so maybe uh let me know what your favorite video was that we've ever done or what video got you on to watching the channel curious to hear from you guys but thank you guys it's freaking awesome so hopefully we can continue to grow the channel and just keep doing our thing and keep doing these cool projects and you guys will keep enjoying them and keep on watching so we can keep turning this here on the trailer unfortunately we did not get to go to the track yesterday in race because the event did get rained out which does suck and my flight was supposed to leave back to florida wednesday morning but i'm actually getting my flight pushed back a day so we can take the prelude to a test and tune on wednesday and i can actually make some passes in it while i'm down here in colorado so i'm gonna be staying down here until we can make some hits in the prelude hopefully we get that thing back in the nines and maybe we can crank it up even more and get a personal best we'll see what happens but yeah i'm just super pumped on that million guys thank you cannot stop thinking about that it has been the goal of the channel since you know once it rolled over like 50k to 100 i was like there's something here i think we can really make something out of this channel because what we have is just so cool and unique i think so thank you guys a lot and uh that's going to do it for right now but we'll be sticking around till wednesday run the prelude and i don't know what else i'm going to be doing while we're down here in colorado but i will be filming for you guys along the way and also i did want to mention i am going to be working on a 1 million subscriber video i've already started on it some i was hoping to have it done sooner so i could release it around the time we actually rolled over a million but i needed some more clips i am working on that it probably won't be done for maybe a week or so i'm going to try to do my best to get it done but i still have to wait until i get back to florida to finish it up but i'm going to be putting together a video that uh you know to me will probably be pretty special and hopefully you guys will enjoy it so i will be working on that and i'll let you guys know once it does come out two years this car has been sitting and jaden's finally yeah getting her fired up finally it's gonna be yeah it's gonna be cool it's got to get your coolant lines finished up and i'm tired but i'm happy yeah i'm going to do the cool lines for this weekend all i got to do is um i got to block off that hole and then put a fill cap on it and then i'll put water in there i can hide it way longer nice it's good to finally see this thing up and going again dude it's been so long now it looks so good that you actually put your time and effort into it i know instead of the crappy ebay turbos that it had on there before it's not all janky now it actually looks nice just compared to the old setup it just stole setup was so bad i know it's so unique dude that intake pipe looks so crazy yeah i never even posted any pictures i didn't see that that's yeah you changed that up this is cool like the little crisscross pattern you got going on that day yes yeah that's very artsy when are you gonna get the crx back up and going that's the real question i was getting ready to head out of here but forgot to show that hayden picked up even existed and brent finally got a new engine for his dodge here this thing broke down on a long time ago hold up getting a phone call but finally got her back up and going now we're gonna take it to go get some waffle house to celebrate yes sir it's awesome get larry up in here it's like the same color as mine pretty much yeah it's one generation older oh you got the flip out screen yeah they just installed that too oh that's fast yeah i didn't even know i was like what is that you can tell it's been uh used to bring some parts around by how how many engines how many marks are in the bed there holy crap look at well guys it is the following day and we are actually here at the track i am in my racing gear right now and we're actually getting to make some passes in the prelude we were supposed to be here tomorrow but there was actually another private test day today and today's private test day is good because they are only allowing slick cars to run so the track prep should be a lot better they're not letting just the average street car run today so we're hoping we can make some good passes in the prelude today we still have it on the 880 horsepower tune fresh off the dyno and i'm going to be doing a shakedown pass on this current tune and then we can turn it back up from there so the goal is to hopefully put this thing back into the nines and you know maybe we can shoot for a new personal best in this thing the best we have done in the prelude so far is a 96 at 161 so hopefully we can make sure everything's still dialed out kind of knock the dust off this thing and then keep turning it up from there and see if she holds it together and just have some fun and make some passes so we're getting ready to go put her in line right now i already got tucked in everything's ready to go it was raining a little bit earlier but the tracks all dried off now and they just called everyone up to the lanes so we'll see what this thing has brent's gonna be driving today as well yeah it's gonna be fun so making some hits got his son out here too stephen we're all racing today so this is awesome yeah it's gonna be cool and jamie has this integra back there so we might have missed the race which kind of sucked but at least we can come out here and test you get a pretty good burnout and there goes an axle axle right away i even tried to go to the parts store to bring some spares i knew it was gonna bust an axle dang it dude all right guys so we snapped that axle pretty good right on the shaft clean off in two pieces and i just ran to a parts store to pick up a replacement axle actually got one for the driver's side and an extra for the passenger side if we happen to break that one right away but this o'reilly's that had these in stock was over a half hour away and the service was so so not that great i had to wait there forever there was quite the line and eventually got an axle so we killed about an hour and a half but i got the axle changed out and that is definitely the next thing that is going to get upgraded on the prelude is some beefier axles we've been meaning to do this for so long guys but you know came back to colorado and first thing we do is bust another axle in the loot it just eats up another one but i got it replaced and we are getting ready to put this thing back in line and try it again i'm going to probably slip it a little more this time to try to save the axles i was getting antsy in there and i wanted this thing to just take off but uh yeah gonna go a little easier on it this time see if we can make a clean a to b pass so i'm gonna go ahead and put her back in line and get to it all right guys attempt number two we can only hope that those stock axles hold up for this one the track is definitely pretty sticky tonight and uh not to mention we did turn first gear up a little bit because we do want to try to get the front half better in this thing so the extra power probably isn't helping our situation here but you know we're gonna give it our best shot i'll do my best to slip it a little harder this time but you know at the end of the day they're either gonna hold or they're going to break in half again we'll get an upgraded set on the way next time we're out here messing with the prelude for sure oh dang it dude oh no dude i i two three two dude shattered the oil pump again man the first thing i looked at was you look great i mean as long as you know oil pressure you can just put a pump in it tomorrow and be fine i don't know if we have any more pumps i'm sure i have something new i'm sure i have something we'll see yeah yeah just show up in the morning we'll start pulling the timing belt off pull the oil pump off i mean it's not hard to get to in this car all right prelude another oil pump down and another midshift by kyle well we made it back to the shop and unfortunately the prelude needs a new oil pump and uh probably look at it tomorrow i am leaving tomorrow night so i'm not sure if we're gonna try to get another pump thrown in there and possibly erase it tomorrow at the next test and tune but we'll see how it goes but either way that's going to do it for this video and
