Hey Guys! How You All Doing There?
Cowboy Dave here, and I was down at the OK Corel, trying to figure out what to make for me and the boys. I thought, why not whip up some cowboy casserole? It's a classic, it's delicious, and it's easy to make. So, let's get started!
I'm going to begin by adding a little over half a kilo of lean ground beef to a pan over medium heat. Now, I know what you're thinking - why not add some oil? Well, the meat is already pretty lean, so I don't need any extra grease. Plus, I want to get as much of that Boston browned off as possible. As you can see, folks, we've got quite a bit of grease going on here, even though it did say "lean" on the package. So, I'm just going to let it cook for a bit and see what happens.
Now, I've got about 70 grams of the grease off this, which is pretty good if you ask me. It's still a bit greasy, but it's not like I'm going to drown my steak in it or anything. I mean, that would just be crazy talk. So, with the grease all taken care of, it's time to add some aromatics. I've got three cloves of chopped garlic and a small half a small chopped onion. You can never go wrong with a classic combo like this. Now, let's sauté them for a minute or two and see what kind of magic we can conjure up.
Now that our aromatics are all nice and caramelized, it's time to add in the real stars of the show: the baked beans! I mean, it wouldn't be a cowboy casserole without 'em. And let me tell you, these babies are not just any ordinary baked beans. They're got molasses, they've got flavor, they've got everything. So, I'm going to add in half a can of them and see what kind of deliciousness we can come up with.
But wait, there's more! I've also got half a can of peaches and cream corn on hand. You know, the classic Southern side dish that's just perfect for balancing out all the richness of the meat and beans. And let me tell you, these are no ordinary peaches and cream corn. They're sweet, they're tangy, they're the perfect complement to our cowboy casserole. So, I'm going to add them in and see what kind of magic we can make.
Now, it's time for the sauce. I've got a cup of my wonderful Montreal barbecue sauce on hand, and let me tell you, this stuff is good. It's tangy, it's sweet, it's got just the right amount of spice to give our casserole that extra kick. So, I'm going to add it in and see what kind of flavor we can come up with.
And of course, no cowboy casserole would be complete without some good ol' ground black pepper. I mean, you can't have too much of a good thing, right? So, I'll just sprinkle that on in there and let the magic happen.
Now that everything is all mixed up and combined, it's time to add it all to my casserole dish. And let me tell you, this stuff smells like heaven! I can already imagine the flavors melding together, the textures complementing each other... it's going to be a real treat, folks.
So, that's where we are for now. We've got our cowboy casserole all mixed up and ready to go into the oven. And let me tell you, I'm excited to see what kind of deliciousness we can come up with. Stay tuned, folks!
Now, it's time to make the bisquick. You'll find that bisquick in any grocery store - it's just one of those magical mixes that comes together perfectly every time. This particular batch is 320 grams of powdered bisquick, which I'm sure will be the perfect complement to our cowboy casserole.
I've got three quarters of a cup of milk on hand, so let's get mixing! Now, we'll just stir this all up until the dough comes together. And let me tell you, it's like magic - everything is coming together perfectly, and I can already imagine how delicious our final product will be.
Now that our bisquick is all mixed up, it's time to add it on top of our cowboy casserole. And let me tell you, this is where the real fun begins. We're going to take a big ol' scoop of bisquick and spread it evenly over the top of everything. It's like putting the icing on the cake, folks - the perfect finishing touch.
And now, we've got our cowboy casserole all dressed up with a nice layer of bisquick on top. Let's pop this baby into the oven for about 20 to 22 minutes, and let the magic happen.
Now that everything is all cooked up and combined, it's time to take a look at what we've come up with. And let me tell you, folks, I am absolutely thrilled! The flavors are all perfectly balanced, the textures are just right... this is truly a culinary masterpiece.
And there you have it - our cowboy casserole, complete with baked beans, peaches and cream corn, Montreal barbecue sauce, ground black pepper, and of course, that perfect layer of bisquick on top. It's a real treat, folks, and I'm so glad we were able to come up with something this delicious.
