Nissan Micra 2018 in-depth review _ Mat Watson Reviews

**Dealing with Bumps in the Road: Our Experience with the Nissan Micra**

We recently had the opportunity to test drive the new Nissan Micra, and we were impressed by its stability at high speeds. The car feels like a much bigger vehicle on the motorway, and it's surprisingly quiet and smooth, even when accelerating from junctions. However, our experience wasn't without its bumps in the road – literally. The car has some stiff suspension, which can make it feel a bit unrefined over rough terrain.

One of the standout features of the Micra is its handling. When we entered the city, we found that the progressive steering and clutch made it easy to maneuver through tight spaces. However, there was one blind spot in particular that caught our attention – the rear blind spot was enormous, making it tricky to gauge when others were approaching from behind.

We also had the chance to try out two different engine options for the Micra. While we appreciated the punchy acceleration of the 900CC turbo petrol engine, it did have a slight hesitation when accelerating hard from junctions. In contrast, the diesel engine was smooth and economical, with an impressive 64 miles per gallon on the combined cycle.

**Five Annoying Things About the Nissan Micra**

Despite its many strengths, there are some minor annoyances to be aware of when driving the Nissan Micra. For one thing, the sun visors can sometimes be too large and cumbersome, making it easy to hit your head when adjusting them. Additionally, the rear door handles can make it tricky for small children to get in and out of the car.

Another minor quibble is the high price tag on certain trim levels. We were particularly disappointed by the lack of an automatic gearbox option on higher trim levels, which seems like a major omission given the car's overall comfort and practicality.

**Five Good Things About the Nissan Micra**

On the other hand, there are many reasons to love the Nissan Micra. For one thing, it comes with a range of impressive features, including a bow sound system that can create a concert-like experience in the driver's seat. The car also has an advanced suite of safety features, including lane departure warning and auto emergency braking.

Additionally, the Micra is available with some clever convenience features, such as ambient lighting for your mobile phone and acoustic windscreen technology to help reduce outside noise. Finally, the car itself is surprisingly spacious and practical, with ample room for passengers and cargo.

**Our Verdict: Should You Buy a Nissan Micra?**

Overall, we think that the Nissan Micra is definitely worth considering, especially if you're looking for a compact hatchback with plenty of practicality and comfort. While it may not be perfect – there are some minor annoyances to contend with – its strengths far outweigh its weaknesses.

If you're in the market for a car of similar size and specification, we'd recommend giving the Micra a test drive. It's definitely worth considering, even if you don't end up buying one. And who knows? You might just find yourself falling in love with this stylish and practical little hatchback.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthis is the new Nissan Micra and in terms of design it's a massive improvement over the old car now here's the I'll car look at it's all a bit from piano player and you can think of the transformation as going from a caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly the only thing about that now you'd have to pay for that you see this new Micro is quite a bit more expensive than the old Micro in fact it's a little bit more expensive than the average for this size of car now if you click up there to get a car while co-taught UK you can see the very latest prices on the new micro also you can actually fill in the details of the exact car you want and get offers back from dealers and then you can compare prices now on the inside the micro actually has a slightly you love peon feel to it and there's a reason for that the car is actually built in France alongside the renault clio because Nissan and Renault are kind of joined as part of a special alliance and anyway yeah it's it's a lot nicer than the old car so everything you come into contact with does feel high-class I mean I do like this two-tone effect this leatherette on the dash but I should point out that this is the range-topping tip in the model so it's got all the bells and whistles if you actually buy this car that I recommend you should just go for the mid-level Ascenta cuz it's pretty much got all you need to get cruise control you've got other wheels you've got air conditioning you got this touch screen here it's fairly easy to navigate I like the fact that you've got these physical shortcut buttons here which are nice and simple to operate while you're driving the actual screen itself is a little bit low def so yeah it's not very shiny and the screen isn't the most responsive but it's it's okay to use now if you click up there you can actually see my fault in depth video review of it and I have another look good look around this cars cupboard it's quite a nice car to sitting and everything is very easily laid out so the controls for the ventilation system there just close at hand dead easy to operate and I like the way that the buttons feel nice and solid I mean it feels great now people who buy small cars and I think when I'm really tall how am I gonna get comfy good news with this car that look at this I mean if you're really tall you are gonna be okay in here also nice and I've cut out the roof just here above your head so you do get quite a bit of headroom in the front which is great if you're tall enough of course if you're sure you can jack up the seat quite a long way in terms of cubby spaces glovebox all right there's a couple of spaces and their cupholders there's no armrest in the column which is a bit annoying especially as this is the top of the range honey hasn't got that door bins there all right in the front the problem is when we get into the back okay so look there are no door bins at all really I tell what's worse oh look at this like I said top-of-the-range car this one and it has windy down windows here in the back and they don't even go all the way down that's not particularly good also the windows are quite small so it can feel a bit gloomy back here biggest problem knows this look I'm sitting up straight my head is touching the roof so that's sloping roofline that makes the car look coal really does hinder rear passenger space it's a shame because knee room that's alright you ever got so much of humping the floor like you do having some other small cars and the foot wells are quite large that you can just about squeeze three people into the back if you need to but once again Headroom is just a problem well I can't complain about is this lookyou so you've got isofix fittings here on these two outer seats but you also have them there on the front passenger seats as well and if you click up there you can actually see my in-depth practicality video review on this car so it's like with three people in the back how easy it is to fit a child seat and just how much stuff you can fit into this cars boot but I'm gonna give you a quick overview now how the outright volume is kind of average for this class so it's not too bad but it's that's nothing special and the problem is this boot is devoid of any form of features so it's like a Volkswagen pony you can get an adjustable boot floor and this car doesn't have that so you've got this big lip to lift stuff over which isn't great if you've got a bad back I'm looking for tethering points alright other cars might have but there aren't any and there's no 12 volt socket in the boot of this car either so yeah great now I'm just gonna fold the seats down to show you the space that you have is one a covey large load items I'm just lifting these up so the seats will light as flat as they can there we go and you can see the problem there well you go alright I'm out of space there is this huge Ridge there so if you wanted to load something heavy and push it to the front of the car it's gonna be very hard to do and I think that this Nissan Micra isn't quite as practical as some other cars of this size that's all the practicality stuff dealt with it's time to hit the road the Nissan Micra is a Japanese car that's built in France but he was actually engineered in Cranfield in England which means that it's driving dynamics have been set up on UK roads and that's great because I think the here in the UK provides a brilliant blend of comfort and handling you see the suspension it does a pretty good job of dealing with the bumps in the road yeah through the corners this car doesn't feel all kind of baggy and loose like an old pair of pants won't go so far as say it's fun though you know there'll be a bit of a lie it's not as engaging to drivers and like a master - but does that really matter because when you get on the motorway this thing feels really stable at speed it feels like a much bigger car and for a small hatchback it's not that noisy they get too much wind noise or tire roar either so yeah on the whole it's quite impressive however when he entered this city the progressive breaks the light steering and clutch and the nice gear change means that it's dead easy to maneuver the only problem is the blind spot so yeah you get quite a blind spot there but the worst one is at the back I mean have a look at that it's huge and that can make maneuvering a little bit of a pain now if you click it there you can actually save yourself by joining me for 360 degree passenger ride video at the moment you can only get the microwave two engines I recommend to go for the 900 CC turbo petrol it can be a little bit hesitant when you're boiling away from junctions but once you roll it yeah it's fairly in italy and it gives a good economy you will be able to get a 1 litre petrol which I've actually driven in a Renault Twingo remember Nissan and Renault they kind of joined well that inter just seems to slow a bit too slow for this car so I reckon if you're going to do lots of miles and you want the best economy you're gonna have to go for the diesel so it's supposed to do 64 miles per gallon I'm getting I'm getting almost 50 - it's alright and the engine itself it's pretty smooth and yeah it's punchy as well quite like it one word of warning though if you're on a micro at the moment you can't get one with an automatic gearbox now then it's time for the car why five annoying things about the Nissan Micra the Sun visors are necessarily large handy though if you want to drive by using the force of load and he's gonna be kept when he put it back up Chris you can hit your head and when you do put the back up properly they make this noise stop the cart is moving from the high location of the rear door handles can make it a little bit tricky for small children to gain the car themselves you're right in hand did it come on man this new market is rather expensive this is the range-topping version and it cost over nineteen thousand pounds and when you added a couple of options including this contrasting orange trim which is four hundred quid you're looking at over 20 grand for this particular car it's insane I don't know why Neeson has decided not to stitch the gear Gator all the way to the top looks like it's gonna go pop it's not it's just I've done it I'm really not gonna pull any microt but there are a few things that bug me such as this fake plastic a carbon fiber light trim and the huge reversing sensors which can look like a car and the paws thankfully the micro has plenty cool features which helps make up for all this here's the car Wow five good things about the Nissan Micra you can get the car with a bow speed get in the driver's headrests and I'm bound sound round the car to create a concert like experience all marketers get an impressive righteous attitude as standard including front side and window airbags there's lane departure warning and auto emergency braking which and stop you're running into pedestrians or cops you can get this car with 360 degree cameras the car has an acoustic windscreen to help prevent outside noises don't coming in you can get ambient lighting in the cubbyhole when you keep your mobile phone which comes on when you turn the lights on if you can look at Laeken at a car okay dot uk' for more information and to compare offers on the new Nissan Micra so then what's my verdict on this car should you avoid it should they consider it should you shortlist it or should you just go right ahead and buy it well I reckon you should shortlist than this and Micra there are cars of a similar size they're a bit more practical but it's still a very nice thing enjoyed this video please like it and share it and
