My Name is Emma: A Day at Book Expo

As I stand here waiting with my friend Kayleen, we're taking our photo to kick off the day at Book Expo. It's 8:30 in the morning, and we're one of the first to arrive at the convention center. We've been planning this trip for a while now, and I'm excited to see what the day has in store for us. Kayleen got breakfast because she knows how much I need my food every morning – she's on a roll with bacon and orange juice, and I've got some chips stashed away for later.

We're sitting on the floor, waiting for everyone else to arrive, and I'm excited to start taking photos of the event. The first minutes are passing quickly, and we've already lost touch with our friends who came before us to grab a book. But I managed to snag a copy of "At the Seven and a Half Deaths of Edel in Overton Castle," which sounds like an amazing read – the author's name is on my list, and this arc promises to be full of glamorous things.

As we make our way upstairs to take more photos, I can see that there are no art installations set up at Book Expo. We were all convinced that they would be a highlight of the event, but it looks like we'll have to settle for tote bags with the titles and cover designs of some of the books on display. On the bright side, our tote bags will definitely make us stand out in a crowd! Now that we've got our cameras ready, we're going to wander around the expo hall to check out what else is on offer.

As I look around at all the different book vendors and publishers set up at the convention center, I spot some of my favorite authors and illustrators. It's always exciting to see their latest works being showcased here. We need to make sure we get our hands on all the books we want to read before the day is over! But for now, let's take a break and grab some snacks – this Thai food table looks incredible.

I spot my friend Tara chatting with Brad, while Kaylee chats up an old friend nearby. Meanwhile, I've managed to snag a seat in a cozy corner of the room with a great view of everything happening around me. This is turning out to be quite the lovely day after all!

It's now 9:45 am and Book Expo has officially opened its doors for another busy day of festivities. And while we're having an absolute blast here at the event, I'm starting to feel my anxiety levels creeping up again – it won't be long before we have to say goodbye to our friends and head home, tired but happy.

As I take in all the sights and sounds around me, I feel a rush of excitement knowing that today is going to be full of wonderful memories. We'll get plenty of time for books, socializing with fellow book lovers, food, drinks – even some fun little videos featuring our favorite BookTubers! My daughter just told me she can't wait to share all her experiences with us when we get home tonight.

But I still can't shake off that sense of restlessness as morning wears on. It's not exactly the kind of anxiety that makes you want to curl up in bed, but it's enough to keep me slightly on edge. Oh well – we've got plenty of time before bedtime and lots more book-filled adventures ahead of us!
