Can An SUV Be a Track Car - Modified Audi SQ5 Review

When You're Higher Off the Ground: A Perspective on the Audi SQ5

A lot of times when you're higher off the ground, things feel slower. This can be attributed to the changed perspective that comes with being elevated above the rest. On the other hand, when you're lower to the ground, sometimes it can make a really slow car feel more intense. For example, something like a Miata or similar vehicle in a straight line. However, this Audi SQ5 is smooth and efficient enough to handle every job perfectly due to its ample space in both the front and back seats. The absence of any claustrophobia also adds value as visibility is unparalleled.

The dash cam may be unobtrusive, but it doesn't detract from the overall driving experience. One thing that stands out when you're behind the wheel of this car is how much light comes in through the windows, and yet, the driver remains oblivious to any glare. This suggests a level of openness and visibility that's unmatched by some other vehicles. Furthermore, even when navigating challenging terrain such as supercharger-equipped cars, the SQ5 exudes calmness despite its potent engine.

The sound of the engine becomes more pronounced when accelerating or cornering at high speeds, but this is an asset rather than a liability. The distinct tone serves as a clear indicator for shifting gears without sacrificing control. It's this fine-tuned balance that separates the SQ5 from other German cars, making it an ideal daily driver.

It's interesting to note how some individuals might find the lack of responsiveness from manual transmissions unappealing; however, those who enjoy the sense of feedback and control often appreciate vehicles like the Audi SQ5. In contrast, its refined nature makes it an excellent option for a daily vehicle that still offers impressive performance capabilities. One thing is clear: this SUV has gained an underappreciated reputation in the market.

The relationship between appearance and value cannot be overstated when discussing cars like the Audi Q5 versus the SQ5. The similarity in design often leads people to believe they're essentially identical, which couldn't be further from the truth. What sets the SQ5 apart is its more refined approach to performance, resulting in a better overall package.

One particular aspect that's worth highlighting is the exhaust note on this car. It strikes a perfect balance between being audible and not too distracting or obnoxious. The driving experience is made more enjoyable as a result of this subtle yet effective sound.

In terms of handling, dropping gears can sometimes be disconcerting due to the vehicle's weight distribution; however, thanks to advanced suspension systems and sway bars, it remains remarkably stable even when cornering at high speeds. It may not inspire the same sense of panic or fear that some other vehicles in this category do, but rather instills a strong feeling of control and confidence.

The Audi SQ5 is an excellent vehicle for those who want a car that's both efficient and enjoyable to drive. With its advanced features like all-wheel drive, combined with the refinement it offers over more stylized models like those equipped with performance exhausts, this SUV truly stands out as a top contender in its class.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhey what's up you guys Dave here once again for another video review and today we're in a 2016 SQ5 it's got a supercharged V6 it has a upper pulley and a tunee by solo Motorsports and here's the best part I actually have driven an SQ5 before but that one was more of a looker that was the golden groceries one we called it cuz it had beautiful wheels and a back system and a wide body kit on it which actually didn't even really look like a wide body kit on it cuz it was done so well it flush in with the body but this is a stock body SQ5 but it has a lot more suspension components that aren't airbags this is true susp mention so has H&R Springs it's got billstein shocks it's got sway bars pretty much almost everything underneath the car is built for handling and the owner of this car jayon has actually brought this to Road Atlanta and romped on it pretty good which is really awesome to see cuz he literally is Best of Both Worlds his analogy for the SQ5 is that it's an S4 with a batpack on it and I was like that's that's a really good way of looking at it because underneath it feels very similar to say the S4 that I drove drove about 2 years ago the motor acts the exact same way comes with a really good supercharger wine that's really intoxicating and these respond really well to minor mods now I've also driven the Audi S3 which had the 2 L in it which is a completely different Driving Experience so it's kind of cool to see that Audi kind of jumps around and tries out different platforms every now and then according to each car you're not just getting the same engine in every single car another thing is about the SQ5 is the interior still as awesome as I remember it it's incredibly roomy it's incredibly comfortable and Audi in general are just really nice on the inside it's a nice place to be and usually during a video review I'm yelling at you but in here I can just kind of whisper at you and it's no big deal and what's great is the flat bottom steering wheel in Audi is like one of my favorite things about them it's just satisfying to do turn in and everything else when you feel that flop on them because it's essentially the same steering wheel that's on the Lamborghini uracan because the Volkswagen umbrella has no bounds what's also good is it comes with a bunch of different options in the transmission you have sport mode and also a traditional automatic mode but and you get the good old DSG fart as a lot of people call it and it's a very satisfied shift in between but if you're kind of going around town in sport and you're going pretty slow it can kind of be iffy it might downshift a little too soon or too late kind of figure out where it wants to be but overall it's a great transmission and it's really SM Smo another highlight of the car is that it has the brand spanking new pellis on it and 295s which is a big fat meaty Tire on an SUV and then when you see it from up front you just see how wide they are and it's like really medicine looking and another thing too up front it has the Euro lights so it gives it kind of an individual look compared to the other SQ5 but the voson wheels on this as well are gorgeous but according to Jason they're such a pain in the butt to keep clean because of the matte black I had to say about this V6 that they have in these Audi is that the response is just so great and the feedback is incredibly precise so wherever I am in the pedal you know exactly what kind of power you're putting down and it doesn't feel like a turbo car where you're kind of in between you don't know what you're kind of putting down supercharged especially the root style is very easy to protect sometimes what you're kind of controlling and if I'm in sport mode which I am I can always just look the throttle all right so if I get on it just H okay it's completely linear and having just a normal conversation with you right now brakes are fantastic big giant calibers up front and you have nothing to worry about when it comes to stopping power even though this thing is really big compared to a sports car another thing too is occasionally on track it can get a little floaty up front cuz you can't hide weight sometimes but is it really like crazy scary no it's just you have to be aware of it it's kind of like the Hellcat in the way it's a big Bera but you just you got to know what you're driving but it's got big fat Bros up front so like once again stopping power is not an issue and you think that they would put brakes like this on in stock so that kind of throws me off that they didn't do that especially when it's an Audi and Audi is like the premium brand so I think they should put bigger brakes on this later down the road all right does big Bera go around a corner oh my God yeah oh I B throttle by accident whoops there we go break feedback is really good and really easy okay yeah it's buttery smooth you don't even realize how fast you're going that's the problem so I could definitely I could totally get tickets in this thing cuz it's just so smooth that you look down and cuz when you're higher off the ground a lot of the times things feel slower and when you're lower to the ground sometimes it can make a really slow car feel more intense you know like kind of like a Miata or something in a straight line but with this car it's so smooth it can do every job perfect cuz you have room in the back seat you have room up front you never feel claustrophobic the that's just a dash cam don't worry about that and you never feel claustrophobic and your visibility is so good in the SQ5 I mean you could probably tell by the lighting of this video that there's so much light coming in and it's not disruptive at all and how about down low all right that supercharger one is ridiculous all right it's so calm like it it's funny it's like an oxymoron it makes really aggressive noises but you never get the feeling that you're in trouble like you never have the feeling that I'm going to like flip this giant SUV because of the higher center of gravity but it feels a lot like a car like the way it kind of feels compared to the S4 it feels like just a tall S4 so what I've noticed about that is when you're in it and you're going around a corner or you're just going straight and you're accelerating the sound of the engine actually helps you out because you have to focus on looking at the tack the entire time makes a very signature sound when you're at the top of the RPM range so you know when to shift so you don't really have to be going like this and causing more risk of you going around a corner and you know going into off the road but you can just focus on the task at hand which is driving which is great I think a lot of German cars do that very well where it speaks to you in a way that you can just focus on driving ahead of you and you don't have to worry about constantly doing everything but a lot of people like that kind of feedback so if you're really into like you know manual transmission and everything else I could see how you might not like this but as a daily driver it doesn't get much better than this I mean you have all like I said earlier space visibility you can put your kids in the back he does all the time it's just a overall great package by Audi and the SQ5 is one of those SUVs that's completely overlooked because the Q5 looks so similar to the SQ5 so when people see the SQ5 and they see the badge on it I'm sure a lot of people who don't know German cars go oh he probably just has a nicer interior or something like that but you're getting a better performance pack you're getting a bunch of beneficial things over the Q5 and what's better than that the exhaust on this car is also awe and it makes a really nice subtle sound you don't have any drone at all like there's no subwoofers in your ear there's no anything there's a good enough sound to where you can hear it but it's not to the point where it's obnoxious you can totally drive this every day and not have any issue we're going to do one more section drop the gears all right woo oh man okay here we go you know the you feel the weight but it's pretty dwarfed with the combination of all the sway bars and the suspension and the shocks and everything it's not one of those things where you go around and turn and you're like this there's no sense of that like on the edge of that you're going to flip it's really really settled because I've been in some of the SRT8 jeeps and stuff like that and I feel like we go around a quarter in that and I'm in trouble good low in see just like that and once you get the momentum up it's really easy to add power and and everything else with the all-wheel drive system it inspires confidence you're never Invincible with all-wheel drive but it inspires confidence and with all-wheel drive Drive letting off can sometimes be a bad thing so you want to get a little bit more into the power to push the car around so that always helps with such a big freaking car all right you guys I hope you all enjoyed this really quick video review of the Audi SQ5 I hope you all enjoyed it big thanks to Jason for coming out and let me drive his baby I had a great time driving it it's really interesting to seeing one that's a little more refined over more of the
