semi trucks going down the half mile airport runway today i've been pumped for this i heard about this few weeks ago and this is gonna be the highlight of our weekend i think just listen to him this morning pulling in the gate good morning good morning you guys rolling deep today looks like yeah we're 12 13 today holy crap we heard there was gonna be some semis coming up i didn't know there's gonna be this many this is awesome yeah we had a good group uh get ready to show up so uh we're we're looking forward to today a lot which one is the fastest any idea um i'm sure it's whoever's geared the highest right on uh on a quarter mile uh that one and mine are the two quickest on ets what do you round the quarter um low 14s i've run a 1390 but i haven't backed it up so uh and we're racing at twenty thousand pounds wow so uh i'm down on i'm 1500 all these trucks should be pushing the thousand plus horses most of them there's a couple at about seven or eight hundred you're gonna be able to stretch it all in the half mile you think or is it going to get top topped out here well gear i think we're going to be gear bound i think we're going to be bumping the governor a little bit beforehand so we'll have to play with it once we start getting to the end and see how it runs out but we're going to shake them down a little bit and see what it's going to look like all right it's going to be a good morning let's check some of these trucks out yeah figures out while we're while we're here so what are we looking at here uh this is a 97 379 p uh i've owned it 604 i'm doing all the work myself stretched it change sleepers build the engine do all my tuning and uh injectors turbos all that check out the hood here you open your hood a little different than we do yeah it's a little heavier well the turbo's on the other side yeah no yeah no this is a standard engine where the terminals on the exhaust happen it's a single or compound it's called now it's 260 detroit most of them were d-shorts and cats out here today i don't think there's a cub i don't think there's any others um but i download 1520 was my last dyno and um this is how i run it really i run the compounds because that's how it working as well so oh yeah there's just no whacking running big enough to everyone to support it and a lot of stop and go yeah can't be able to freaking do anything well any guesses what you're gonna do mile an hour was man it's this stuff like the dyno you know you start making predictions i already get i got clammy hands thinking about it theoretically i should be gear bound out at 127. okay so um you know i'm hoping to see if i've 120 should be able to do it but man these things are bricks so we'll see so we're going to see like 115 to 125 average yeah maybe a 130 maybe maybe there's a couple of them that might get the 130 out of it i might could sneak into it if if i bump the governor out i don't know it's it's going to be here i don't know i'm so hesitant to say all right well we'll see you out on the track here shortly thank you appreciate it oh my yes and i can't see simon what did that truck do 118. oh my god that is nuts so i go to a lot of half miles i see a lot of cool cars but these these semi trucks i'm so pumped for this today always been a fan of semi trucks probably even before i was a fan of cars so i finally get to see a semi truck on an airstrip man it was just the highlight of my day possibly my whole entire week so this is so cool 97 in the near lane for the peterbilt 37.87 here okay marlene 107.68 oh my god dude i can't believe these trucks are moving that fast on a half mile how am i getting chili dog i'm getting this pink one real quick dude the seats are pink too all right i think this one's a really really fast one or at least one of the fast ones and matt just hopped in with it kind of jealous because these things look rowdy 120 and a half mile in one of these is ridiculous check this out great dude hell yeah man i'll mark that off the bucket list half mile in a semi truck we actually uh just came back from tijuana and los angeles took first place at both places no kidding yeah i showed up to tijuana and got ambushed by nitrous trucks good thing the truck runs good and it stays together so they kept on running nitrous and leaning out their motors and burning out cylinders so at the end of the night i stayed together took first place just because it looks clean i like it i have no idea if it's fast yet dear lord yep nothing can't see him later that last shift took a while i think it lost in the race all right peterbilt where's ken he usually gets me make for some good footage that's a big gap right there we did 117 there 17 again yes sir to be my magic number 117 is still super impressive for a big old truck man we're 22 000 pounds that's 22 000 pounds that is more than impressive that's incredible and it's full of you is it yes got about 240 gallons of fuel in here oh no did you lose some paint i guess i lost some bolts on the back oh no but i ain't even gonna try to click i'll just take it off there you go yeah it's not gonna hurt your arrow or anything did you see it in your mirror flopping around or what oh man well the reason why i saw it in the mirror is that looking at my buddy see how far he oh yeah he was way back there he's usually behind me we got great drivers but yeah i looked back and i saw it another thing oh crap i better take that off yeah you're not going going over 100 on the interstate so it doesn't happen that often uh no wait my wife actually is coming with a picture one night i can load it back and we live in san antonio so oh nice perfect i'm gonna see if this guy will let me ride down the half mile matt's gone a couple times and i'm kind of jealous so i'm gonna try and see if i get it with this guy hey with you yes sir all right it's my first time in the summer to be honest with you what's the setup on the truck what are we looking at got a bigger 60 series detroit okay how big is that uh it's about 1100 horses god oh we got him we got him rowdy this is a working truck right yes jeez we're working every day everything's rounded and how many gears did we go through on the half house good thing really yeah oh all right how much torque do you think this thing makes got to be at least i have never downloaded it but it's got to be at least on the torque wise at least matt just told me on milwaukee that was 100 miles an hour to 99 miles an hour so really close race and as you can see back and forth we'd grab a gear he'd grab a gear we'd go back and forth even for our regular racing standards that was a good damn i race to ride in my favorite one there we go all right what is this one what's the setup on it what are we looking at the 1998 peterbelt 379 300 inch wheelbase okay i got a 372 rears what kind of power are we looking at i haven't downloaded it but i'm hoping around 1250 1300 damn hey what trends are we working with how many what's their fastest mile per hour so far 100 nice very nice is it working truck you use it every day fred's truck is gapping them well sir thank you for the ride thank you sir that is awesome for the kentwood the side closest to me on that last pass he went 117 again for the marmin he went 103. our our friend danny here just went for right in the yellow semi and you guys had uh the other guy had an issue huh yeah so we were i don't know about three quarters away down the track and all of a sudden you'll see in the footage it just went up and smoke and there was stuff rolling down the track man i thought it was a tire that kind of let loose but nope it was definitely uh fluid on the track so well what'd you do ah man apparently the number six rod's a little grudgy against the starter okay and uh it said i'm tired of you and he punched my starter out really yeah right through my block everything he didn't care about none of it that broad just went damn i know you just put the hood down can you pop it for the let me see yeah it's on the other side all right i already see some yeah this is cleaned up see i'm not kidding my garage punched out my starter oh show yeah i got the rod cap over here in a picture oh my god that is a massive hole he really didn't like that starter it is the biggest hole ever seen a block well also like the biggest block we've ever seen with a hole in it but damn gee 1940. i'll blow yours up trying that is a big that's a big pack right there yeah that's about that's good that's my rod god there's part of my block there oh look i'm always missing though so i got me a spare now how long is it gonna take for you to put a new motor in this thing um i don't know a week probably really yeah i may be back up november if i i've got some other stuff to build so i'm gonna have i'll probably have a couple weeks in it but if i was just gonna go home and do it i could do it in a week i got i got some blocks and jokes you guys are just like race car guys you're you're but your race cars are just a little bit bigger yeah this one makes my living so it kind of sucks so i i'm on a little bit of a time crunch but oh let's figure out i got some junk parts laying around but i said most of these are working trucks aren't they yeah they're all working shops that's crazy i have never seen a hole in a block that big so we've also never never filmed the car that blown up with that big of a motor so he said if he said in the interview there that if he were to drop it off at a shop and have them fix it and redo everything it'd be a 50 000 mess up so it's good that he can work on his own stuff i don't it's still going to cost thousands i'm sure to redo that thing but 50 grand to redo that it's crazy do you think the golf carts fast drop the line or the semis they got all that torque though oh that's true the pull on it's pretty hard we'll see wow got a uh casualty how's it going pretty good very good so what truck am i riding in here this is a 1999 kenworth all right and w900l i built it from the ground up how long have you had it for man six seven years put some miles on it it's you keep hearing these are all work trucks this is a work truck i heavy haul with it so it's not the fastest truck here because i got gears for going slow and heavy home oh yeah yeah 40 top out here on the half mile about 100 miles an hour i hadn't got there yet i've been 96 yep all right slows down nice yes jig it's pretty hard yeah what do you think we were out there mile an hour uh i don't know probably probably 98 i hope i'm hoping for a 98.99 that was an experience that was my first half mile in a semi that was that was cool what's up how's it going good how are you oh another day in paradise thanks let me borrow your seat all right so what am i right now 1996 peterbilt 379 it's a running kind of a frankenstein cat motor that we've done a little tinkering with hauled low down to midland and blew a head on the way down so seriously yeah seriously how long ago was that uh yesterday yesterday so you rebuilt it no no we're running on a bad head oh cool all right we come to play so it's already done the damage so you might as well finish it off how many miles that head on have on it uh this one's got to ride around 150 000. okay so the truck itself's got 2 million all right here goes kyle in the peterbilt this thing did 114 miles an hour on its last trip down the runway let's see what it does now gotta give a handicap hello there's the big break all right sorry about that that's all right that's stick bracing for you you have to bounce it like that you just can't do anything with it oh yeah so you're not clutching it are you no you're just going off rpm yeah gotcha okay how was it it was good yeah yeah the the tire shake was so bad he couldn't get it in here so i noticed that it wasn't a clean pass but it was fun the tire shake made it a very it's a unique experience isn't it oh yeah this air dyne cab is really cool i've never seen it from back here hell yeah right throws you a lot harder in the back seat when you don't have a back yes i saw you go back yeah it's uh all right we got a semi-truck driver one more time i mean he's been doing it all day it's not like it's gonna hurt anything what's up what's up guardian back here oh yeah all the way jesus holy crap i feel like more of a man right now that's for sure yeah dang that yeah that's where it's at nice look how much black smoke's pouring out jesus that was a close race well those two semi's around brother 109. that's right so 116 to a 91 116 to 11 91 damn that's gonna be some good gopro footage all right now we got the two fastest semis on the property let's go at it right here i think they were doing like two or two sorry like 1 17 118 something like that we got matt with chili dog over here in the left up against this black semi right here let's see who's got it chili dog is out on him big time but it all comes down to shifting dude hell yeah i've done plenty of half mile ride alongs i've got i think i've gone 200 and a half this is way cooler never a hundred and something in a victory no never never rode in something going this fast that weighs twenty two thousand pounds what was the mile an hour on the semis there uh 117. now you did 117 and the other truck did 115 you win well congrats brother you went 117. and you weighed 115. that's been my magic number all afternoon yeah that's not a bad number uh it sucks cause like i got on your truck you're leveling up it sucks because then everybody knows my number and all they gotta do is catch that yeah all they gotta do is go 118. and that's it and then then i gotta go back to the drawing boards and be like all right all right guys we are in for a special treat so we have all the semis here well at least most of the semis that were here today lined up across the way we're just gonna do it for a picture they all revved up it's really cool the half mile guys come i was like do you guys want to run them hell yes we want them to run so we're gonna do like eight or nine semis all the way across the airstrip and they're gonna all gonna race down the airstrip at the same freaking time so eight or nine semi's racing at the same time kyle this is gonna we're gonna say this is a world record eight semi's drag race at the same time this is
