Has Nvidia FINALLY Delivered - Is RTX Worth It (DLSS & Ray Tracing)

The Pacing Problem: Battlefield 5 vs Metro Exodus

That's what I'm saying that it's Metro that's actually the more impressive game visually and a lot of this just simply comes down to the pacing as best wheeled five is all about fast paced shooting and taking him as scenery he wasn't really part of world war two Metro on the other hand is simply stunning and it's a game that you actually have time to walk about and take everything yet so while it doesn't have the ray-traced reflections its environmental lighting looks phenomenal there's a scene in the early game where you row a boat through a cultist church and it's just breathtaking how all of the light bounces off all of the different walls you've got sources from outside you've got the fire inside and it really is something to behold. This is an advert for the tech fundamentally though all the time this tech does take a hit to your hardware you're going to have to fine-tune the settings to find whatever works for you as getting that minimum of 60 FPS maybe a little bit of a struggle without turning some stuff down and well if you're like me and you're used to 144 Hertz well of to be honest it's actually quite unlikely to happen but wait NVIDIA actually has an answer for this in the name of DL SS or deep learning super sampling now we've talked about this before with Final Fantasy and it was a brilliant way to increase frame rates of 4k while maintaining visual quality and the good news is that this tech has also arrived in both battlefield 5 and Metro Exodus and it's even landed at 1440p as with Final Fantasy if you play at 4k then you'll see a big increased weapon yes as the game actually renders at a slightly lower resolution before using AI to upscale this to the 4 pixel count the theory is that you get the same sharpness as before but with smoother edges and a much greater level of performance so if you're playing at you HD this tech is a huge boon and you really do need to turn it on it's a shame then that the same can't be said for 1440p is the current visual quality just isn't good enough for me to even consider using I've spent many hours on a quad HD screen actually testing this and the whole image just looks blurry it's a real shame it just looks like you've turned down the render scale I do have hope that this can be improved over time especially to the point where you'd actually want to use it but it does seem that the resolution is just a bit low in the first place for this tech to work as cleanly as it does at 4k and it may never be up to the same standard.

RTX Technology: A Mixed Bag

so this leaves us in the situation where the r-tx cards are going to be great for you HD 4k gaming but if you're playing at other resolutions you're basically sitting on untapped potential it's really frustrating that six months after launching we only really have Metro Exodus that I would play with our TX on if NVIDIA can work some magic with their quad HD TLS s then this will help a huge amount of people as the 2060 and 2070 aren't ready for K gaming cards especially once you've turned ray-tracing on. I guess I'm just a little bit disappointed with a whole launch really as RT X was meant to be about these crazy new features and they're still not really here and we can say as we have in every one of these videos I've said that the future is gonna be bright for these cards and if you look at what AMD is doing it's not really that competitive but fundamentally these graphics cards are more expensive than the ones before and other than the usual performance bump that you would expect there's not really that much at the moment.

The Verdict: RTX Technology Worth It?

I want to hear from you guys if you've bought yourself an RT x graphics cards I want to know are you happy with its performance and are you playing with RT X on let me know down in the comment section below I will also leave a poll card in the top right hand corner so please answer I'm really interested to hear your thoughts massive thank you though to you guys for watching this video please hit the like button if you've enjoyed it it took ages to make and obviously get subscribed if you want to see more videos just like this a massive thank you to aces for sponsoring the channel as always and Nvidia MSI ZOTAC everyone that has either sent out or loaned out graphics cards that were used in this test but yes I think we're there the builders are back outside then they're gonna start drilling again that's why this video took so long to make and I even made this video with the microphone off so this is the second time I've done it I'm going crazy see you later

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enRTX graphics cards were supposed to be the revolution but there's been very little reason to actually buy one after all what's the point in our tix features if there aren't really any r-tx games to actually play and videos launched last year we were showing ray-tracing in battlefield 5 and Metro Exodus as well as being promised d LSS and a huge library of titles now both of these triple-a games actually came equipped with both and now that they've been released to the masses we can finally assess these features properly and answer once and for all whether these graphics cards are actually worth there now let's talk rate racing because there are two types of implementation the first is real-time ray-traced reflections and this is probably what you've seen in the marketing material best field five holds the torch of this tech and is undeniably impressive when seen in the right lights the second is ray-traced global illumination as seen in Metro Exodus this is significantly more difficult to show off in advertising but to my eyes it's actually arguably more noticeable in game as it makes environments more lifelike with scene lighting that closely reflects reality for increased immersion we are likely to see both combined together in the future for some hyper crazy realistic graphics but it seems that it's just a bit too GPU intensive right now to be feasible on current hardware looking at the benchmarks we see that despite the arty cores that come embedded on the GPU die the framerate still sees a significant drop in both battlefield and Metro now each game does have different levels of ray tracing that can help you get the right balance between performance and visuals but the problem is that both games are already so GPU heavy that you just might end up choosing between traditional quality settings and then those r-tx features for me I'd say that it's Metro that's actually the more impressive game visually and a lot of this just simply comes down to the pacing as best wheeled five is all about fast paced shooting and taking him as scenery he wasn't really part of world war two Metro on the other hand is Exodus and it's even landed at 1440p as with Final Fantasy if you play at 4k then you'll see a big increased weapon yes as the game actually renders at a slightly lower resolution before using AI to upscale this to the 4 pixel count the theory is that you get the same sharpness as before but with smoother edges and a much greater level of performance so if you're playing at you HD this tech is a huge boon and you really do need to turn it on it's a shame then that the same can't be said for 1440p is the current visual quality just isn't good enough for me to even consider using I've spent many hours on a quad HD screen actually testing this and the whole image just looks blurry it's a real shame it just looks like you've turned down the render scale I do have hope that this can be
