mean well when I do a comprehensive review like this it has to consist of three components number one my personal experience and my personal opinions I gotta let y'all know how do these work for me in the real world number two of course the product and the specs and number three most importantly we gotta compare these to other products on the market for 300 bucks you got to know are you getting the best or is this something that's better than these for the same price or are you buying the same product twice so we got to do comparisons so with that being said let's get started now usually I start with the uh specs and the unboxing but this time I want to start with my personal experience first of all when I took these out of the box you're going to notice the size now Sony claims the case is 15 smaller than the m4s now you don't have to be a mathematical genius you could just look at these it's definitely smaller now if you had the M3s this case is gigantic okay so right away I immediately was like okay I like the size of these but when I open these up and I looked at them look how small these are now Sony claims these are 25 smaller than the m4s if you notice they actually are a lot smaller now if you had the M3s these were gigantic even though these actually kicked in the door okay for active noise canceling earbuds these were the best on the market but these are just too big the case is too big the earbuds are too big these you can only rock when you're commuting on your flights uh you can't wear these in the gym they're just too big and heavy now with the m4s these are just a little bit too fat perfect for day-to-day use but I could never work out with these on they're just too big so when I took these out and I put them in my ears I was immediately immediately satisfied with the size of these so the next thing I did was pull up my Android phone okay I had the Galaxy I paired them up and I started playing some music now when I test out earbuds the first thing I like to do is test out the music with the EQ on flat okay the stock EQ settings I don't even go to the app I just want to hear how they sound coming fresh out of the box as a Baseline let me tell y'all something okay when I started listening to my music with these I had a visceral reaction my fish was like this I'm bobbing my head let me set the scene for you okay let me set the scene I'm upstairs in my office it's hot outside in New York so I'm sitting in front of the air conditioner on full okay the air condition is on high I got the TV on I'm watching the court case the Johnny Depp Amber Heard cross-examination I gotta watch that maybe once a week for the entertainment value and I'm on my computer so I'm playing my music I'm bopping my head and I'm saying to myself Sony has hit a home run with these all right they knocked it out the part first of all I don't hear the air conditioner at all now I think we all knew that the um Sony's was gonna have god tier noise cancellation we all knew that I did not hear the air conditioner I'm looking at my TV I see the people's lips moving I do not hear anything but the music and speaking of the music the music sounded great it sounded great now remember with the Sony m4s you got the six millimeter drivers okay with the m5s you got 8.4 millimeter drivers so bigger drivers bigger sound and that was one of my gripes with these I that's why they never been in my top five because the sound quality I just have other earbuds that sound better these have always been in my top two for noise cancellation but for sound quality it's always been bno sennheisers battles and Wilkins the sound quality of these was blowing me away so the first thing I did was okay now I gotta take it to the app but I got this message right here I want to show you I'm keeping it real with y'all I got this message right here I could not update the app so I was like damn in that case I might as well start doing what I usually do looking for things that I don't like now me I'm the type of person when I review a product okay it's easy to find things that you like but it's harder to find things that you don't like so I'm a nitpicker all right they call me Petty Roosevelt for a reason so I'm trying to figure out things that I don't like and the only thing that I could figure out that I didn't like off the rip not really a dislike but I wanted a little bit more bass I wanted a little bit more bass and Sony has an EQ that lets you adjust the bass I wanted to test it out but I couldn't I tested out the core quality I hadn't made a quick phone call it sounded good but I didn't do the wind test okay I was testing out transparency mode excellent but again the fit they're so small and comfortable it's hard to believe that this amount of noise cancellation is coming from these earbuds so I said you know what I'm gonna go to sleep I'm gonna try this again tomorrow as soon as I woke up this morning boom update for the app so now we could fully test these out and this is another thing right here okay one of the things that I'm passionate about in life is earbuds if you notice look at this right here eye shoes I need the scoot scoop I know about earbuds okay I got a lot of earbuds and I really wanted to test these versus my top dogs these are my top dogs right here so I wanted to give these a full comparison that's one of the reasons I decided to do this flossy Carter Style now let's take it over to the specs now like I said these are going to run you 300 bucks they come in two different colors you got black and silver now these are Bluetooth version 5.3 the Codex is SBC AAC lc3 and the big boy ldac now these feature multi-point connection that means you compare two devices at the same time now the ipx4 sweat and water resistant you got 8.4 millimeter Dynamic drivers okay again that's an increase as opposed to six on the m4s now these feature dual processors so you got the qn 2E and the V2 one for the mics and one for real-time processing of the outside environment which we'll talk about in a minute now these feature active noise cancellation and transparency mode with wind noise reduction now you got six mics with bone conducting sensors that's part of the reason the call Quality sounds so good on these now the battery life is 12 hours on a single charge for a total of 36 hours using the charging case that's what active noise cancellation turned off now if you turn on ANC you're gonna get eight hours for a total of 24 hours using the case and you also got quick charge so three minutes of charge will give you one hour worth of play time and the case does feature Qi Wireless charge now you got full touch controls which are customizable and you got the Sony music app that lets you customize your EQ and other settings all right so all that for 300 bucks I think you already know what it is first things first shout out to White Shoes back in the building okay so let's go ahead and unbox these now here's what you get inside you're gonna get USB charging cable all right USB type c to USB a you got small large medium and the extra small tips and of course usual books and plug in the following now for the actual earbuds again first of all look at the charging case we got to compare it to the m4s the charging case 15 smaller now the actual earbuds look at this and this is part of the reason why I was so hype finally a set of Sony earbuds that feature the god tier noise cancellation that are actually small enough that I can wear these to the gym wear these daily and not feel like I got some big giant earbuds in my ears now just for comparison look at the M3s Sony is really doing their thing with the technology being able to squeeze better noise cancellation because remember when these came out this was the top of the top of the food chain but look how big they was so being able to squeeze that noise cancellation technology into this side's earbud which is kind of ridiculous okay this is kind of ridiculous now you got the red that lets you notice the right okay now one quick side note too for all the fellas out there if you see me shaking a little bit I like to make these videos right after I come from the gym so I just came back from benching three plates doing a bunch of curls so I got the post-workout shakes and I'm trying to extend my arms like this they feel like jellies but I'm gonna try to hold them as straight as I can so I don't get the um wobbling effect but take a look at these super small you got the polyurethane tips extremely comfortable and lightweight now if you watch my channel you know my top two active noise canceling earbuds are the Sony's and the Bose but look at the difference in the size here's the bows here's the Sony's the Sony's are a lot smaller all right so now let's take it over to the scales this is how much weight is going to be in your pocket now with the M3s this was 92 grams with the m4s 54. with the m5s 49 grams the lightest Sony earbuds with the top 10 noise cancellation now let's take a closer look at the charging case little Sony brand Under the top it's a soft plastic matte kind of feel to it no fingerprints USB type-c charging slot on the back there's your Bluetooth pairing button and you got a LED on the front now let's check the magnet strength we'll start off with minimum shakage no movement intermediate shrinkage no movement maximum shakage no movement so when you drop a case they're not going to pop out all right so now let's take a closer look at the actual earbuds if you notice they have a little glossy trim these are touch capacitive buttons and on the inside you got the little gray and red to let you know the difference between right and left when you want to drop them in the case and again I can't stress this enough small and lightweight super comfortable all right so now let's take a look at the Sony headphones app now at the top it shows you the name of your earbuds you got your Bluetooth codecs mine is on ldac and DSE extreme we'll talk about that in a second now it shows you the battery percentage for the left the right and the charging case now we're on the status tab you got adaptive sound control now I'm going to leave mines off but this way when you go outside it'll automatically adjust your Ambient sound or your noise cancellation multi-point you compare two devices at the same time it shows you the music that you're playing you got playing pause Skip and reverse tracks volume up and down now let's take it over to the sound tab Ambient sound okay so right now I'm in Ambient sound mode I'm wearing the earbuds I hear everything perfectly fine I can hear my nail on the table but I will say this this is one of my first gripes the Ambient sound mode is definitely not as good as on the airpod pros but it works okay it works but watch this when I press this button right here noise cancellation bro I got to keep it 100 real with y'all when you press that button it gets scary right it gets scary quiet I'm telling you bro these are god tier noise cancellation and this is with nothing else on when you press that button I could hear the blood cells in my brain I mean it is ridiculous now if you want to from Ambient sound you can switch all the way from zero to twenty so if you want less or more Ambient sound or you can turn it off now you can also put on voice pass through okay suppress a little bit more noise you got speak to chat now with speak to chat if you're playing your music as soon as you start talking it'll automatically pause the music now I tested that with the m-force it works fine fully functional EQ okay so you got bright excited mellow relaxed vocal treble boost Bass boots speech or manual okay you can set a custom EQ now they got uh find your EQ that's a beta right now this features 360 reality audio now you got to use certain streaming services but you will get the 360 reality audio with head tracking now this is one of the best features right here and one of the most underrated features DSE extreme what does that mean now if you like me and you listen to a lot of old school hip-hop music I like a lot of DJ Clue tapes from the early 90s early 2000s music that you're not going to find on Spotify or apple music you're only going to find it on YouTube basically what this does is upscale that music it makes it sound better I love that now you got spatial uh spatial sound and head tracking let's go to system okay so for voice assistant I got mine set to Google but you got an Amazon Alexa or you can use Siri here's your touch controls all right so you got single tap double tap triple tap and long press now you can fully customize these I'm going to play with them in a minute and you also got quadruple tap now that's a new one so you can use that for volume up and down quadruple chat okay let's exit out of that let's see anything else okay you got your Ambient sound control settings okay that's the tap for the left earbud you got quick access double tap and triple tap I'm going to set all those up you got head gestures now head gestures I'm going to leave these off because basically say you're getting a phone call you could just nod your head and don't answer the phone call not me when I'm listening to my music my head is always nodding so I don't want to accidentally answer any phone calls but I tested it out just now it works okay it really works the automatic power off pause when the headphones are removed okay so if you listen to your music you pop out your earbuds it'll pause the music pop them back in automatically play it and you got your notifications and voice guides you can read your notifications aloud now you got some new Services you got Spotify tap quick access uh auto play all of these are beta right now fully functional app all right so now let's talk about the look The fit and the feel now I'm wearing the earbuds right now and again these are the lightest and most comfortable of the Sony earbuds that I've used yet now we gotta check the head shake test so I'm going to start with minimum Shake itch no movement intermediate shrinkage no movement and maximum shakage yeah no movement at all now let me show you how they're going to look just like that small and discreet and on the side note for everybody asking me how come I don't do the head shake test on camera y'all remember I did it in the shocks video and they turned around and used it in one of their commercials now I'm forever online shaking my head looking like a banana head but these look great and they feel nice and snug very comfortable I could easily see myself wearing these to the gym all right so now for the moment I've been waiting for all day long let's do a little sound test and now we can actually adjust the EQ now shout out to my girl I told her I was gonna drop the Ed Sheeran shape of you I'm gonna start off with maximum volume I got noise I'm gonna do some thorough testing but I think these might be they might be I these might be well let me say it like this these are definitely Sony's best earbuds to date but these might be my new favorites let's do some more testing all right so I just did some more thorough testing with a bunch of different songs from a bunch of different genres and here's the results okay the sound quality of needs is pretty terrific the volume gets nice and Loud the highs in the mids are crystal clear and you got a deep clean Rich adjustable base I am feelings and I just figured out one more feature these have a temporary transparency mode so say you're wearing these and you got your music rocking and somebody comes up to you and say let me talk to you for a minute you don't have to pause your music you don't have to put on transparency mode you just tap and hold the right earbud and as long as you're holding it it's going to pause the music and put it in transparency mode so this way you could talk and as soon as you say okay okay yeah okay I'll talk to you in a minute as soon as you let go you're right back to your music that is perfect for you at the gym and somebody comes over to you and they tapping you you press and hold yo what up uh how many you got left I got three sets left all right cool let go just like that that's pretty dope but the sound quality is A1 all right so now let's do the reconnection test how long will it take to reconnect your phone after you take them out and put them in the charging case so as you can see they're fully connected I'm gonna take these out just drop them in the case wait for them to fully disconnect okay there it is now we'll take them back out One Mississippi two Mississippi three Mississippi three mississippis that's excellent all right so now let's check for multi-point connection can you pair two devices at the same time now if you notice I'm connected to an iPhone so I'm going to grab the earbud and put it right by the mic you'll hear the music playing now I'm gonna pause it now let's play the Galaxy you hear the music playing look how fast that switch was so multi-point connection Works flawlessly all right just in case you're wondering if you got an iPhone the music sounds just as good now if you got an Android phone you got LD AC I will say this the volume is a little bit louder a tiny bit louder but in terms of the quality of the music it pretty much sounds the same to me on Android and iOS so if you got an iPhone you're gonna enjoy these earbuds now let me talk about speak to chat real quick I'm using this right now it's actually a dope feature you see you can set it to how long you want it to stay off so I got mine set to five seconds so if I'm playing some music as soon as I start talking it automatically pauses the music puts me in transparency mode and as soon as I stop talking five seconds later my music starts again so let's try it out I'm gonna play some music yo who got over there you see how it pulls and now I'm in transparency mode now I'm going to be quiet for five seconds and my music should start playing again bro this is dope all right so I see now I just pause again this is dope full if you work in an office and somebody Taps you in the shoulder and your flaws I just start talking yeah what up okay yeah I got the report I'll be there in a minute as soon as I be quiet just wait that five seconds and my music starts playing again I like that feature but me I like to sing along to my music so I just want to leave it off but if you work you'll enjoy it now let's do the one earbud test can you play music from One earbud one other one is charging up in the case let's find out I'm gonna hit play okay so the music is on take out the left earbud drop it in the case close it up the right side is still playing now let's put the left side back in and just reconnected take out the right side drop it in the case close it up the left side is still playing so this is pretty dope you can use either but independently basically doubling your battery life all right so I just went to the settings and activated pause when headphones are removed so let's try that feature so I'm going to play the music I'm gonna pop out in there but and it just pours pop it back in and it started playing okay so that works perfectly all right so now let's check the touch controls and on the side note these are fully customizable but here's how I got mine set up for the right earbud single press for playing pause that'll also answer and end phone calls okay now double press to go to the next song triple press to go to the previous track okay quadruple press for volume up and long press for voice assistant what time is it Okay it's 3 52 p.m it's set it in my ears now for the left earbud single press to switch between active noise cancellation and transparency mode and long press for quick attention so that means right now my music is playing if I long press it it's in transparency mode right now and I hear everything perfectly fine so all of the touch controls work perfectly all right so now let's check the call Quality I just called them is she didn't answer the phone but now she's calling me back here we go yeah hi girlie what's up what you doing uh why did I even ask bro that's why you can't let nobody get an apartment bro I shouldn't even ask windage right in front of my ears and I'm going like this you don't hear no win okay uh now as far as my voice how do I sound how would you rank these on a scale of one to ten let me turn this wind you're not gonna like these anyway because they're not Apple but these are one of my favorite new sets of earbuds and I'm glad that I can hear you perfectly fine and the wind noise that's kind of 100 real with me she said these were a nine and she was actually all hyped like oh you sound extra clear she sounded extra clear to me and this is my second phone call that I made with these now I made one upstairs uh tested them out when I first got them I had to call them sprint to beef about my bill sound quality of needs I now remember these featured a bone conducting technology all right so the the call Quality I'm keeping it real the core quality on these top tier I love it all right so I know this video is taking kind of long so I did some more testing off camera and here's the results first I did the range test I walked all the way to 30 feet no drop connection at all next I check for latency I watch YouTube Netflix Amazon Prime all of the videos had no lip sync delay at all next I checked for Ambient sound mode now the Ambient sound mode does work perfectly I love how you can adjust the levels and I love the quick attention mode but I will say this the airpod pros have the best transparency mode on the market now these they work all right they work perfectly fine but the airpods they just sounded a little bit better as far as transparency mode next now let's talk about active noise cancellation and that is the star of the show now the Sony m4s these were already the king of ANC the Sony m5s are the new king of active noise cancellation now I compared them side by side with the bows I did the baby crying test I did the Brookstone fan test and I tested these out yesterday let me tell you something if you're buying earbuds looking for active noise cancellation these are the best on the market with the Brookstone fan right now if I put these on I got the fan on maximum windage I cannot hit a fan at all not one not one sound but I feel all of the air hit in my face let me tell you a funny story yesterday when I had these on I'm upstairs in the office I'm rolling around in the chair after about 15 minutes I noticed my neck was starting to get numb I didn't even notice that I had rolled my chair this close to my air conditioner and I'm all zoned out with the music I'm having a little drink the back of my neck was ice cold I could not hear the air conditioner I cannot hear the TV my computer had a YouTube video on I didn't hear nothing except the music same thing I went outside to test out transparency mode I sat in the car my car is rumbling I did not hear anything but the music and when I tested these out versus the Bose I did the baby crying test both of these God tear noise cancellation but even when I put the baby on maximum volume which no baby could cry that loud with the bows I heard a little faintness a little faint of you know a little a little tiny wine with the Sony's I did not hear nothing okay now y'all heard me use God tear like I said these are scary Ted get robbed here okay do not play these at maximum volume with active noise cancellation turned on while you're walking home from the Subway at night you're gonna get jacked okay these are the earbuds that you want when you're taking that flight and you sitting by the engine you on the train you're on the DMV and there's kids running around and there's a lot of noise in the background this is what you want okay this is the best active noise cancellation earbuds that I've used yet as of right now Sony is killing the game now let me say something real quick too as far as transparency mode the airpod pros are my favorite for transparency mode but the best the best transparency mode is the Sony liquids now the only downside with this and this is a real story that's happened to me in real life when I went to the eye doctor okay so I'm testing these out I took them to the eye doctor these sound perfect for transparency mode I use these in the house all the time when I'm on my zoom calls and I want to hear a little bit of music I'm not really paying attention you know what I'm saying this is what it is the only downside is when I went to the eye doctor now it's loud outside when you put these at maximum volume you're still gonna hear stuff because they have actual holes in them so you're still going to hear some of the outside sounds so the thing is with the airpods you got the maximum transparency mode but at any moment you could turn that off and get Bass the problem with these is if you're somewhere that's too noisy you're still gonna hear the outside noise but if you're looking for maximum transparency mode trust me the Sony link buds look at them they got a hole in them okay how could you get more transparent than that okay so these are still in my rotation if you see my video on these a lot of people think I didn't like these the problem is I didn't like that they don't have a lot of bass and they don't get loud enough for the real world outdoor situations but in the house I still use these all the time if you FaceTime me and you see me on a zoom call I got these in my ears or these depends but mostly boys and then I'm gonna give y'all my top five all right so I just did some thorough testing now I'm not gonna go through my full top ten I just wanted to rank these versus my number ones the bnos here's the results ladies and gentlemen as much as I like the Sony's the bnos these are still my number ones when it comes to sound quality it's just like if you eat at Applebee's all week long you might think that's the best food out until you go to kuzamano Steakhouse and you get a steak from there and you like oh wait a minute this is one of those steak Stakes same thing I've been listening to the Sony's all day testing these out and I am loving the sound but soon as I put the bnos same shape of You song I noticed that they were a little bit louder and the bass these got a little bit more Bass so the bnos are still my favorites but when it comes to noise cancellation okay I did a quick ANC test it's not even close the Sony's have the best active noise cancellation on the market so pound for pound If You're Gonna Go feature versus feature it's up to you me personally I gotta have the Sony's for traveling I have to have these for noise cancellation but I have to have these for sound quality anyway let's kind of wrap this up all right so as far as my dislikes honestly there's really not that much to really gripe about with these but I will say this I wish they went a little bit heavier with the bass okay because I'm a bass head I wish the transparency mode was just as good as the airpod pros with more of a natural sound and voice to it and lastly I wish they threw some wing tips so if you want to rock these in the gym and you want to do 100 backflips or your decline or your bent over rows the wings I I can only use earbuds in the gym that have wings or hooks that wrap around the ears so it'd be nice if they threw those in the Box but other than that this is the complete package right here all right so overall on a scale of one to ten I'm ranking the Sony m5s a major major major major go all these worth 300 bucks the answer is yes and all these are worthy upgrade for the m4s the answer is yes just by the size and the fit alone I would upgrade not to mention the look okay a lot smaller and cleaner more discreet sound quality is amazing the core quality is excellent the touch controls fully customizable and they work with no issues you got a fully functional app with EQ and plenty of settings the battery life 8 to 12 hours depending on how you use it plus the Quick Charge three minutes give you one hour you got multi-point connection and most importantly the god tier active noise cancellation these are the best active noise cancellation earbuds on the market Point Blank end of the story anyway video is kind of long but it deserves a full throw the link up in the description the price for these 300 bucks now for the rest of this video we're going to call these the m5s and on a side note if I say headphones I mean earbuds now shout out to Sony for centimeters to review this was originally supposed to be a sponsored video but I respectfully declined because I want to give these the full flossy Carter treatment now what does that mean well when I do a comprehensive review like this it has to consist of three components number one my personal experience and my personal opinions I gotta let y'all know how do these work for me in the real world number two of course the product and the specs and number three most importantly we gotta compare these to other products on the market for 300 bucks you got to know are you getting the best or is this something that's better than these for the same price or are you buying the same product twice so we got to do comparisons so with that being said let's get started now usually I start with the uh specs and the unboxing but this time I want to start with my personal experience first of all when I took these out of the box you're going to notice the size now Sony claims the case is 15 smaller than the m4s now you don't have to be a mathematical genius you could just look at these it's definitely smaller now if you had the M3s this case is gigantic okay so right away I immediately was like okay I like the size of these but when I open these up and I looked at them look how small these are now Sony claims these are 25 smaller than the m4s if you notice they actually are a lot smaller now if you had the M3s these were gigantic even though these actually kicked in the door okay for active noise canceling earbuds these were the best on the market but these are just too big the case is too big the earbuds are too big these you can only rock when you're commuting on your flights uh you can't wear these in the gym they're just too big and heavy now with the m4s these are just a little bit too fat perfect for day-to-day use but I could never work out with these on they're just too big so when I took these out and I put them in my ears I was immediately immediately satisfied with the size of these so the next thing I did was pull up my Android phone okay I had the Galaxy I paired them up and I started playing some music now when I test out earbuds the first thing I like to do is test out the music with the EQ on flat okay the stock EQ settings I don't even go to the app I just want to hear how they sound coming fresh out of the box as a Baseline let me tell y'all something okay when I started listening to my music with these I had a visceral reaction my fish was like this I'm bobbing my head let me set the scene for you okay let me set the scene I'm upstairs in my office it's hot outside in New York so I'm sitting in front of the air conditioner on full okay the air condition is on high I got the TV on I'm watching the court case the Johnny Depp Amber Heard cross-examination I gotta watch that maybe once a week for the entertainment value and I'm on my computer so I'm playing my music I'm bopping my head and I'm saying to myself Sony has hit a home run with these all right they knocked it out the part first of all I don't hear the air conditioner at all now I think we all knew that the um Sony's was gonna have god tier noise cancellation we all knew that I did not hear the air conditioner I'm looking at my TV I see the people's lips moving I do not hear anything but the music and speaking of the music the music sounded great it sounded great now remember with the Sony m4s you got the six millimeter drivers okay with the m5s you got 8.4 millimeter drivers so bigger drivers bigger sound and that was one of my gripes with these I that's why they never been in my top five because the sound quality I just have other earbuds that sound better these have always been in my top two for noise cancellation but for sound quality it's always been bno sennheisers battles and Wilkins the sound quality of these was blowing me away so the first thing I did was okay now I gotta take it to the app but I got this message right here I want to show you I'm keeping it real with y'all I got this message right here I could not update the app so I was like damn in that case I might as well start doing what I usually do looking for things that I don't like now me I'm the type of person when I review a product okay it's easy to find things that you like but it's harder to find things that you don't like so I'm a nitpicker all right they call me Petty Roosevelt for a reason so I'm trying to figure out things that I don't like and the only thing that I could figure out that I didn't like off the rip not really a dislike but I wanted a little bit more bass I wanted a little bit more bass and Sony has an EQ that lets you adjust the bass I wanted to test it out but I couldn't I tested out the core quality I hadn't made a quick phone call it sounded good but I didn't do the wind test okay I was testing out transparency mode excellent but again the fit they're so small and comfortable it's hard to believe that this amount of noise cancellation is coming from these earbuds so I said you know what I'm gonna go to sleep I'm gonna try this again tomorrow as soon as I woke up this morning boom update for the app so now we could fully test these out and this is another thing right here okay one of the things that I'm passionate about in life is earbuds if you notice look at this right here eye shoes I need the scoot scoop I know about earbuds okay I got a lot of earbuds and I really wanted to test these versus my top dogs these are my top dogs right here so I wanted to give these a full comparison that's one of the reasons I decided to do this flossy Carter Style now let's take it over to the specs now like I said these are going to run you 300 bucks they come in two different colors you got black and silver now these are Bluetooth version 5.3 the Codex is SBC AAC lc3 and the big boy ldac now these feature multi-point connection that means you compare two devices at the same time now the ipx4 sweat and water resistant you got 8.4 millimeter Dynamic drivers okay again that's an increase as opposed to six on the m4s now these feature dual processors so you got the qn 2E and the V2 one for the mics and one for real-time processing of the outside environment which we'll talk about in a minute now these feature active noise cancellation and transparency mode with wind noise reduction now you got six mics with bone conducting sensors that's part of the reason the call Quality sounds so good on these now the battery life is 12 hours on a single charge for a total of 36 hours using the charging case that's what active noise cancellation turned off now if you turn on ANC you're gonna get eight hours for a total of 24 hours using the case and you also got quick charge so three minutes of charge will give you one hour worth of play time and the case does feature Qi Wireless charge now you got full touch controls which are customizable and you got the Sony music app that lets you customize your EQ and other settings all right so all that for 300 bucks I think you already know what it is first things first shout out to White Shoes back in the building okay so let's go ahead and unbox these now here's what you get inside you're gonna get USB charging cable all right USB type c to USB a you got small large medium and the extra small tips and of course usual books and plug in the following now for the actual earbuds again first of all look at the charging case we got to compare it to the m4s the charging case 15 smaller now the actual earbuds look at this and this is part of the reason why I was so hype finally a set of Sony earbuds that feature the god tier noise cancellation that are actually small enough that I can wear these to the gym wear these daily and not feel like I got some big giant earbuds in my ears now just for comparison look at the M3s Sony is really doing their thing with the technology being able to squeeze better noise cancellation because remember when these came out this was the top of the top of the food chain but look how big they was so being able to squeeze that noise cancellation technology into this side's earbud which is kind of ridiculous okay this is kind of ridiculous now you got the red that lets you notice the right okay now one quick side note too for all the fellas out there if you see me shaking a little bit I like to make these videos right after I come from the gym so I just came back from benching three plates doing a bunch of curls so I got the post-workout shakes and I'm trying to extend my arms like this they feel like jellies but I'm gonna try to hold them as straight as I can so I don't get the um wobbling effect but take a look at these super small you got the polyurethane tips extremely comfortable and lightweight now if you watch my channel you know my top two active noise canceling earbuds are the Sony's and the Bose but look at the difference in the size here's the bows here's the Sony's the Sony's are a lot smaller all right so now let's take it over to the scales this is how much weight is going to be in your pocket now with the M3s this was 92 grams with the m4s 54. with the m5s 49 grams the lightest Sony earbuds with the top 10 noise cancellation now let's take a closer look at the charging case little Sony brand Under the top it's a soft plastic matte kind of feel to it no fingerprints USB type-c charging slot on the back there's your Bluetooth pairing button and you got a LED on the front now let's check the magnet strength we'll start off with minimum shakage no movement intermediate shrinkage no movement maximum shakage no movement so when you drop a case they're not going to pop out all right so now let's take a closer look at the actual earbuds if you notice they have a little glossy trim these are touch capacitive buttons and on the inside you got the little gray and red to let you know the difference between right and left when you want to drop them in the case and again I can't stress this enough small and lightweight super comfortable all right so now let's take a look at the Sony headphones app now at the top it shows you the name of your earbuds you got your Bluetooth codecs mine is on ldac and DSE extreme we'll talk about that in a second now it shows you the battery percentage for the left the right and the charging case now we're on the status tab you got adaptive sound control now I'm going to leave mines off but this way when you go outside it'll automatically adjust your Ambient sound or your noise cancellation multi-point you compare two devices at the same time it shows you the music that you're playing you got playing pause Skip and reverse tracks volume up and down now let's take it over to the sound tab Ambient sound okay so right now I'm in Ambient sound mode I'm wearing the earbuds I hear everything perfectly fine I can hear my nail on the table but I will say this this is one of my first gripes the Ambient sound mode is definitely not as good as on the airpod pros but it works okay it works but watch this when I press this button right here noise cancellation bro I got to keep it 100 real with y'all when you press that button it gets scary right it gets scary quiet I'm telling you bro these are god tier noise cancellation and this is with nothing else on when you press that button I could hear the blood cells in my brain I mean it is ridiculous now if you want to from Ambient sound you can switch all the way from zero to twenty so if you want less or more Ambient sound or you can turn it off now you can also put on voice pass through okay suppress a little bit more noise you got speak to chat now with speak to chat if you're playing your music as soon as you start talking it'll automatically pause the music now I tested that with the m-force it works fine fully functional EQ okay so you got bright excited mellow relaxed vocal treble boost Bass boots speech or manual okay you can set a custom EQ now they got uh find your EQ that's a beta right now this features 360 reality audio now you got to use certain streaming services but you will get the 360 reality audio with head tracking now this is one of the best features right here and one of the most underrated features DSE extreme what does that mean now if you like me and you listen to a lot of old school hip-hop music I like a lot of DJ Clue tapes from the early 90s early 2000s music that you're not going to find on Spotify or apple music you're only going to find it on YouTube basically what this does is upscale that music it makes it sound better I love that now you got spatial uh spatial sound and head tracking let's go to system okay so for voice assistant I got mine set to Google but you got an Amazon Alexa or you can use Siri here's your touch controls all right so you got single tap double tap triple tap and long press now you can fully customize these I'm going to play with them in a minute and you also got quadruple tap now that's a new one so you can use that for volume up and down quadruple chat okay let's exit out of that let's see anything else okay you got your Ambient sound control settings okay that's the tap for the left earbud you got quick access double tap and triple tap I'm going to set all those up you got head gestures now head gestures I'm going to leave these off because basically say you're getting a phone call you could just nod your head and don't answer the phone call not me when I'm listening to my music my head is always nodding so I don't want to accidentally answer any phone calls but I tested it out just now it works okay it really works the automatic power off pause when the headphones are removed okay so if you listen to your music you pop out your earbuds it'll pause the music pop them back in automatically play it and you got your notifications and voice guides you can read your notifications aloud now you got some new Services you got Spotify tap quick access uh auto play all of these are beta right now fully functional app all right so now let's talk about the look The fit and the feel now I'm wearing the earbuds right now and again these are the lightest and most comfortable of the Sony earbuds that I've used yet now we gotta check the head shake test so I'm going to start with minimum Shake itch no movement intermediate shrinkage no movement and maximum shakage yeah no movement at all now let me show you how they're going to look just like that small and discreet and on the side note for everybody asking me how come I don't do the head shake test on camera y'all remember I did it in the shocks video and they turned around and used it in one of their commercials now I'm forever online shaking my head looking like a banana head but these look great and they feel nice and snug very comfortable I could easily see myself wearing these to the gym all right so now for the moment I've been waiting for all day long let's do a little sound test and now we can actually adjust the EQ now shout out to my girl I told her I was gonna drop the Ed Sheeran shape of you I'm gonna start off with maximum volume I got noise cancellation turned off and the EQ set to off all right here we go Birdman hands rubbing together one type of playing pause Let's Get It On okay nice and loud now I promise y'all I'm not gonna sing the club isn't the best place to find the lovers of the bar is where I go all right let's go man my friend the table doing tonight chicken fast dinner with dog slow we talk for hours all right let's get it y'all then we start the dancing now I'm saying that girl you know I won't turn up your love was handmade for somebody like me come on now follow my lead I might be crazy don't mind me oh let's okay let's take it over the blue lace dude y'all see I'm actually sweating I'm having a good time all right here we go okay here we go this is the bass test here we go let's go Sony don't let me down that's what I'm talking about bro oh nice and clean give it to me now let's go Pokemon all right hold up okay okay all right let me reel it I don't know if you really did ladies and gentlemen okay now I'm gonna do some thorough testing but I think these might be they might be I these might be well let me say it like this these are definitely Sony's best earbuds to date but these might be my new favorites let's do some more testing all right so I just did some more thorough testing with a bunch of different songs from a bunch of different genres and here's the results okay the sound quality of needs is pretty terrific the volume gets nice and Loud the highs in the mids are crystal clear and you got a deep clean Rich adjustable base I am feelings and I just figured out one more feature these have a temporary transparency mode so say you're wearing these and you got your music rocking and somebody comes up to you and say let me talk to you for a minute you don't have to pause your music you don't have to put on transparency mode you just tap and hold the right earbud and as long as you're holding it it's going to pause the music and put it in transparency mode so this way you could talk and as soon as you say okay okay yeah okay I'll talk to you in a minute as soon as you let go you're right back to your music that is perfect for you at the gym and somebody comes over to you and they tapping you you press and hold yo what up uh how many you got left I got three sets left all right cool let go just like that that's pretty dope but the sound quality is A1 all right so now let's do the reconnection test how long will it take to reconnect your phone after you take them out and put them in the charging case so as you can see they're fully connected I'm gonna take these out just drop them in the case wait for them to fully disconnect okay there it is now we'll take them back out One Mississippi two Mississippi three Mississippi three mississippis that's excellent all right so now let's check for multi-point connection can you pair two devices at the same time now if you notice I'm connected to an iPhone so I'm going to grab the earbud and put it right by the mic you'll hear the music playing now I'm gonna pause it now let's play the Galaxy you hear the music playing look how fast that switch was so multi-point connection Works flawlessly all right just in case you're wondering if you got an iPhone the music sounds just as good now if you got an Android phone you got LD AC I will say this the volume is a little bit louder a tiny bit louder but in terms of the quality of the music it pretty much sounds the same to me on Android and iOS so if you got an iPhone you're gonna enjoy these earbuds now let me talk about speak to chat real quick I'm using this right now it's actually a dope feature you see you can set it to how long you want it to stay off so I got mine set to five seconds so if I'm playing some music as soon as I start talking it automatically pauses the music puts me in transparency mode and as soon as I stop talking five seconds later my music starts again so let's try it out I'm gonna play some music yo who got over there you see how it pulls and now I'm in transparency mode now I'm going to be quiet for five seconds and my music should start playing again bro this is dope all right so I see now I just pause again this is dope full if you work in an office and somebody Taps you in the shoulder and your flaws I just start talking yeah what up okay yeah I got the report I'll be there in a minute as soon as I be quiet just wait that five seconds and my music starts playing again I like that feature but me I like to sing along to my music so I just want to leave it off but if you work you'll enjoy it now let's do the one earbud test can you play music from One earbud one other one is charging up in the case let's find out I'm gonna hit play okay so the music is on take out the left earbud drop it in the case close it up the right side is still playing now let's put the left side back in and just reconnected take out the right side drop it in the case close it up the left side is still playing so this is pretty dope you can use either but independently basically doubling your battery life all right so I just went to the settings and activated pause when headphones are removed so let's try that feature so I'm going to play the music I'm gonna pop out in there but and it just pours pop it back in and it started playing okay so that works perfectly all right so now let's check the touch controls and on the side note these are fully customizable but here's how I got mine set up for the right earbud single press for playing pause that'll also answer and end phone calls okay now double press to go to the next song triple press to go to the previous track okay quadruple press for volume up and long press for voice assistant what time is it Okay it's 3 52 p.m it's set it in my ears now for the left earbud single press to switch between active noise cancellation and transparency mode and long press for quick attention so that means right now my music is playing if I long press it it's in transparency mode right now and I hear everything perfectly fine so all of the touch controls work perfectly all right so now let's check the call Quality I just called them is she didn't answer the phone but now she's calling me back here we go yeah hi girlie what's up what you doing uh why did I even ask bro that's why you can't let nobody get an apartment bro I shouldn't even ask you know you get one apartment now all right okay I respect that I respect that that's the correct answer all right check this out we'll set you in your apartment I got to put you to work uh you you live in a dream right now let me bring you back to reality for a second all right all right how do I sound sound good okay now I'm testing out some new earbuds they have this technology called wind noise reduction so of course I got the Brookstone fan I got maximum windage do you hear anything you don't have no win no dick you dead ass no wind at all okay look I got the Brookstone fan on maximum windage right in front of my ears and I'm going like this you don't hear no win okay uh now as far as my voice how do I sound how would you rank these on a scale of one to ten let me turn this wind off no but keep it real keep it real I'm not even going to tell you what brand they are all right how do they sound all right 8.5 8.59 you're going with a nine is that your final answer all right you're not gonna like these anyway because they're not Apple but these are one of my favorite new sets of earbuds and I'm glad that I can hear you perfectly fine and the wind noise that's kind of crazy okay so what would you call them headphones I I'm calling them joins I like these joints uh is that the new is that God I'm hip yo I'm hip all right these I like these Jordans all right I'm like let me let me all right let me get back to work I'm gonna call you back after this all right bye okay now the reason I like to do these kind of tests live because y'all know Amaya is going to keep it 100 real with me she said these were a nine and she was actually all hyped like oh you sound extra clear she sounded extra clear to me and this is my second phone call that I made with these now I made one upstairs uh tested them out when I first got them I had to call them sprint to beef about my bill sound quality of needs I now remember these featured a bone conducting technology all right so the the call Quality I'm keeping it real the core quality on these top tier I love it all right so I know this video is taking kind of long so I did some more testing off camera and here's the results first I did the range test I walked all the way to 30 feet no drop connection at all next I check for latency I watch YouTube Netflix Amazon Prime all of the videos had no lip sync delay at all next I checked for Ambient sound mode now the Ambient sound mode does work perfectly I love how you can adjust the levels and I love the quick attention mode but I will say this the airpod pros have the best transparency mode on the market now these they work all right they work perfectly fine but the airpods they just sounded a little bit better as far as transparency mode next now let's talk about active noise cancellation and that is the star of the show now the Sony m4s these were already the king of ANC the Sony m5s are the new king of active noise cancellation now I compared them side by side with the bows I did the baby crying test I did the Brookstone fan test and I tested these out yesterday let me tell you something if you're buying earbuds looking for active noise cancellation these are the best on the market with the Brookstone fan right now if I put these on I got the fan on maximum windage I cannot hit a fan at all not one not one sound but I feel all of the air hit in my face let me tell you a funny story yesterday when I had these on I'm upstairs in the office I'm rolling around in the chair after about 15 minutes I noticed my neck was starting to get numb I didn't even notice that I had rolled my chair this close to my air conditioner and I'm all zoned out with the music I'm having a little drink the back of my neck was ice cold I could not hear the air conditioner I cannot hear the TV my computer had a YouTube video on I didn't hear nothing except the music same thing I went outside to test out transparency mode I sat in the car my car is rumbling I did not hear anything but the music and when I tested these out versus the Bose I did the baby crying test both of these God tear noise cancellation but even when I put the baby on maximum volume which no baby could cry that loud with the bows I heard a little faintness a little faint of you know a little a little tiny wine with the Sony's I did not hear nothing okay now y'all heard me use God tear like I said these are scary Ted get robbed here okay do not play these at maximum volume with active noise cancellation turned on while you're walking home from the Subway at night you're gonna get jacked okay these are the earbuds that you want when you're taking that flight and you sitting by the engine you on the train you're on the DMV and there's kids running around and there's a lot of noise in the background this is what you want okay this is the best active noise cancellation earbuds that I've used yet as of right now Sony is killing the game now let me say something real quick too as far as transparency mode the airpod pros are my favorite for transparency mode but the best the best transparency mode is the Sony liquids now the only downside with this and this is a real story that's happened to me in real life when I went to the eye doctor okay so I'm testing these out I took them to the eye doctor these sound perfect for transparency mode I use these in the house all the time when I'm on my zoom calls and I want to hear a little bit of music I'm not really paying attention you know what I'm saying this is what it is the only downside is when I went to the eye doctor now it's loud outside when you put these at maximum volume you're still gonna hear stuff because they have actual holes in them so you're still going to hear some of the outside sounds so the thing is with the airpods you got the maximum transparency mode but at any moment you could turn that off and get Bass the problem with these is if you're somewhere that's too noisy you're still gonna hear the outside noise but if you're looking for maximum transparency mode trust me the Sony link buds look at them they got a hole in them okay how could you get more transparent than that okay so these are still in my rotation if you see my video on these a lot of people think I didn't like these the problem is I didn't like that they don't have a lot of bass and they don't get loud enough for the real world outdoor situations but in the house I still use these all the time if you FaceTime me and you see me on a zoom call I got these in my ears or these depends but mostly these anyway let's go ahead and wrap this video up oh before I do that of course I gotta rank these okay now I gotta test these out against the big boys okay I'm gonna test these out against the big might think that's the best food out until you go to kuzamano Steakhouse and you get a steak from there and you like oh wait a minute this is one of those steak Stakes same thing I've been listening to the Sony's all day testing these out and I am loving the sound but soon as I put the bnos same shape of You song I noticed that they were a little bit louder and the bass these got a little bit more Bass so the bnos are still my favorites but when it comes to noise cancellation okay I did a quick ANC test it's not even close the Sony's have the best active noise cancellation on the market so pound for pound If You're Gonna Go feature versus feature it's up to you me personally I gotta have the Sony's for traveling I have to have these for noise cancellation but I have to have these for sound quality anyway let's kind of wrap this up all right so as far as my dislikes honestly there's really not that much to really gripe about with these but I will say this I wish they went a little bit heavier with the bass okay because I'm a bass head I wish the transparency mode was just as good as the airpod pros with more of a natural sound and voice to it and lastly I wish they threw some wing tips so if you want to rock these in the gym and you want to do 100 backflips or your decline or your bent over rows the wings I I can only use earbuds in the gym that have wings or hooks that wrap around the ears so it'd be nice if they threw those in the Box but other than that this is the complete package right here all right so overall on a scale of one to ten I'm ranking the Sony m5s a major major major major go all these worth 300 bucks the answer is yes and all these are worthy upgrade for the m4s the answer is yes just by the size and the fit alone I would upgrade not to mention the look okay a lot smaller and cleaner more discreet sound quality is amazing the core quality is excellent the touch controls fully customizable and they work with no issues you got a fully functional app with EQ and plenty of settings the battery life 8 to 12 hours depending on how you use it plus the Quick Charge three minutes give you one hour you got multi-point connection and most importantly the god tier active noise cancellation these are the best active noise cancellation earbuds on the market Point Blank end of the story anyway video is kind of long but it deserves a full
