The Repair of the MR2 Motor
We decided to tackle the repair of our MR2 motor on this evening. The exhaust was still attached, making it a bit challenging to access the engine. We chose to proceed with caution and carefully lifted the car, using a cherry picker to get us started. Our plan was to lift the car high enough to remove the motor, but we needed to ensure that the jack stands were securely in place to prevent any accidents.
As we worked on the repair, it became apparent that the exhaust was still connected to the engine, and we would need to take care when removing it. We decided to proceed with lifting the car, as this would allow us to slide the motor out of its current position. Our strategy involved using a cherry picker to lift the car, while simultaneously sliding the motor backwards. Once the motor was removed, we could then remove the exhaust and assess the extent of the damage.
Upon closer inspection, we discovered that the engine had suffered significant damage. There were cracks in the oil pan, as well as a large hole on the front of the engine. It seemed that the engine had exploded, causing extensive damage to its components. We also found a cracked piston with a broken rod, which further highlighted the extent of the damage.
With the motor out, we decided to clean up the surrounding area, removing any fluid spills and debris. This would give us a clear surface to work on as we attempted to repair the engine's mounts. Our plan was to either purchase new engine mounts or fabricate our own using metal tubing. We were still undecided on this point, but we knew that it would be necessary to restore the car to its original condition.
While we worked on the MR2, another member of our team, Charlie, had successfully repaired his heater and oil line. His car was now back in running order, providing a welcome relief after the long day's work. On the other hand, Mitch's truck remained out of commission, with a faulty fuel pump and damaged gasket causing it to lose power.
As we wrapped up our repair session for the evening, we decided that the MR2 would be pushed around the driveway until further notice. This was necessary because the car still had no brakes, making it difficult to maneuver safely. We also planned to edit this video later in the day and then head home, as we were all feeling quite tired.

Prime the P Azle there you go now you can really see it in the light did it have that steering wheel too I never even saw that that's off the CRX oh is it I found uh looks nice in those two little Cubbies right there behind the seats somebody already had like an energy hub for this really yeah that's sick yeah that steering wheel looks way better I SP like my whole quick relas setup on on it know it's still on there I don't know why it runs so shitty dude that alternator looks nice and new yeah n dude it like still like in third gear like when you put like a lot on it to throttle it it like dies and like falls back on its face I tried to it's like I don't know if I need spark plugs too or what but when I throttled mine it blew up you know might already found a motor for it yeah Alfredo has like a six a 6L out of a truck do it but I don't know how much he wants for it though we both have to get started yeah we have to see how much he wants for it dude it's like the motor's not even the most six RS apart it's a it's like it's like impossible to find a t-56 so you ready to help me pull this motor out it this way to pull him out uh my the plan I'm having is to jack up the car hook the cherry picker to the motor and then drop the motor and then drop the motor to the floor with the cherry picker while it's still like in the car and then set it on like a little dolly or something and then unhook the cherry picker and then lift the car up with the cherry picker even higher cuz I don't have a jack that can go high enough and then just pull the motor out from the bottom that's my plan I was watching some videos of people doing it last night and that's kind of how they do it thinking too that like uh and there's two little tow hooks on the back and you can just hook the cherry picker right to it and lift the whole back of the car up with it so we're going to start on the MR2 today hopefully try to get the motor pulled uh so for right now we're just going to start by pulling out anything we can from the top right here then we'll get it jacked up start pulling the axles out and I mean we neither of us know anything about these cars so we're just going to kind of learn as we go and yeah so the goal for today would be to get the motor out I'd be happy with that it's not even on got it piece of what in the what kind of who makes this for real though oh like like what's the labor rate replacing these airboxes like 2 hours look at this oh there's more ducting right here a look at what Kyle did ow shut the up you did all this you blew my car up that's not my fault dude you would know what's funny though dude is I had a dream that you serious like what if he blew up his car when he raced me like before we ever raced and then you blew your car up dude yeah no it's a sign dude whenever I started hanging out with you guys when since I got back from wow dude everything's been breaking it's true hey it's hitting on that fck it not mine should be out oh that out the way I'm going to have to change all the hubs out and everything too for the new axles when I get them eventually oh yeah I was going to call drive shaft shop oh that made it easy we're going to call drive shaft shop today actually and call them about how much it be K swap axles yeah all right so we got this axle out now we need to get the other side it's almost out too we're going to start pulling apart from the bottom we got everything for the most part unhooked up here like all the radiator lines and shift linkage stuff and some wires and sensors so once we get everything unplugged from underneath we should be able to hook it up like to the cherry picker and try to drop it and then if we forgot something we'll find out I guess we'll rip it out of there all right last bolt this K member on but I think the sway bar is still going to catch a little bit is that focused yeah get out of the way I'm just going to let it fall oh see yeah it's still caught on something I think it's caught on the see I told you fool thought you're mad I told you we had to take them off all right let's get those off your C oh oh that's a caught on see has to come off all the way where right there cuz it's caught on the exhaust just kidding oh the whole you just got to take this off and it'll be good yeah 13 cuz that sway bar is not going to come out yeah it's the 13 where's the little light scratching Mach I don't have it give me the electric one there you go don't give me no B okay I'll get I'll grab it I'll grab it thing here you go goty ow oh oh there got that out of the way now we're get to drop it okay can you see it I can see it yeah so right after we got that crossmember off we found where the motor kind of exploded dude there's a crack right there too look this is about to come off damn so yeah here let me get that light see this a little better has a giant hole right there you can see the crank in there you can see the Piston it's it damn she's done that's a big ass hole well now I got to pull this exhaust off and then we're going to hook the Cherry pricker up to to it take the mounts off and try to lower it down and hopefully we got everything unhook that we need to but I guess we'll find out all right we got the last motor mount bolt so almost there yeah it's not going to go anywhere cuz of those they're Mount pretty solid yeah Ms there it is so now we got it slow Jack down we might have to let this side come down a little bit we'll see I guess just keep filming I might we're probably going to have to remove like quite a bit of stuff yeah we probably miss some things well we really don't give a so it doesn't really matter just girl woman like that is it good yeah oh what like rolling forward oh is it yeah it wants to go forward but it looks like it's basically there see anything connected yeah keep the camera pointed on on you just on like whatever we're doing said I hit just girl cut that off woman like that girl oh here's one just lowerer that down oh you just cut it yeah and let all the plugs just rip out it it yeah hold on I need to get this plug off though I don't know how to get it kind of wondering like what the vsss is on like it's it's obviously electronic but the what nothing I don't know how this pug comes off it's all game oh there we go little why are you talking about yourself shut the up oh there's dude there's a whole bunch of plugs on this whole box needs to come off cuz look this wiring harness is just going to I don't think it can come come down anymore yeah I need to unhook this whole box all right keep filming it I'll edit it edit it CH girl right well it's not all the way out but oh on it's still clipped in right here that's that knife I'll just cut it okay nice that's not going to cut it I got it all right just keep an eye out for stuff I'm going to let it come down a little more all right you can't really see cuz I'm too short let me get you a booster seat a little a little stool I need a I need a I need like a 5 gallon bucket oh wait wait wait we need to do one more thing disconnect the exhaust cuz right now it's just bending the whole exhaust right now so yeah we can't get the exhaust unbolted so we're just going to like take it off all in one piece cuz the bolts are really rusted the impact could not break them free and I don't want to cut up or anything so we still have to just take one bolt off here and then one on the other side and then that should come down we almost forgot about that the exhaust off so going to try to let her down some more is it going down yet no tell me when it starts going down cuz I can't see what I'm doing all right it's not going down it's like this exhaust is putting so much pressure on the bar it feels like I'm loosening it oh oh oh oh ohop I couldn't feel what I was doing KY Kyle got too excited I don't really think there's just over there dude that's the only thing I can really see hold that is getting pulled on hard this yeah that's something in the trunk it's like where the whole engine harness goes oh have to move all these tools yeah I might go back up with it a little bit yeah all right that should be good oh I forgot about this see guys these were the headers I was going to put on the hatch once I got that off still haven't done that yet got my books look all my senior year books back when I was uh had no friends but now everyone thinks I'm cool cuz I have a fast Honda to to but no one thinks you're cool so that's all right everybody thinks I'm a dumbass yep everyone on my channel like hates you I don't know why yeah I don't know cuz I'm white he's actually a pretty chill guy he can be a dumbass sometimes but see where does that go might have to pull these little tabs out you're about to break it I'm just looking oh that's the ECU that's what I just told you shut the up told you it's where the main engine harness is yeah well that's I didn't know you meant that my computer all right I need to get a flathead and get those out he's actually putting shoes on yeah it's Co all right so I did not know this but we just found the ECU so this is where this I think it was this one that's getting pull on I think this one's okay this one's just for like the tail lights and yeah or something I think but we just got to unplug this one right here and can pull it through right there and it should be good so I guess we'll see unplug this relay and alala hair look at his hair that's why they don't like you they're going to be like stop making fun of him they be like you're bully you see like how's that supposed to work when I get a new computer got to wire all this in I don't know what this is for wish up to see here we go oh one more plug that's a tight plug right there oh right in the oh you're the one telling me I'm all excited oh there you go but how are those plugs going to fit through the firewall uh you just put them through the firewall you just make it fit you just got to make them fit you just spit on it yep it I don't think she'll need any spit she's pretty loose yeah there's already a big hole in her I think we can slide her right in what are you doing I need get it out of this first just cut this thing up it what the hell is it I don't know it comes apart somehow see there's like a tab right there you found the end up Kyle this oh there you go it's just the beginning might end the breuing like that grommet oh no no you got it I'm Pro you think you're all bad now yep I'll be good looks like you somewhat know what you're doing whoa calm down dude I'm about to give these people a seizure moving this thing so fast off what are those those are my kitties all right so the motor is completely free it's just kind of resting down in there right now we got the cherry picker hooked up to these Factory tow straps right here there's like these little tow hooks so we just got two straps hooked up to those and we just got these shirts to help protect the bumper just I don't want to scratch the paint if I don't need to we got two little rotors uh in front of the front tires just to keep it from Rolling forward at all and right now what we're going to try to do is Jack up the back as high as we can and then just kind of Slide the motor out from under it we're just not sure how to go about it just yet just because the Jack's kind of in the way and since the exhaust is still on there it might make it a little hard but we're just going to go up with it and see where we go from there all right so we got the back end of it pretty high up right now it should be enough to get the motor out but the cherry picker in the way to slide it back and that's really the only way it can come out so we just set the jack stands up right like that and Hayden's going to let it back down onto the jack stands and then we'll pull the cherry picker off and then slide the motor out and then hook the cherry picker back up and then let everything down so that's the plan look on that side this side look it's it's good is it on there yeah I don't know if the whole car is going to dude it might lift it might lift the front of the car up a little bit there's no slack on here now okay you good yeah all right go back up with it a little bit what I just just go back up I just want to wiggle the car to make sure it's good oh yeah it's good all right so yeah now we'll just take the cherry picker off and we should should be able to slide the motor out so we'll see all right just got the motor out honestly wasn't too bad like really wasn't like 3 or 4 hours yeah and we really weren't like and we weren't trying hard we went and got food so it really was 3 and it's like 6 yeah was not as bad as I thought it was going to be but uh has it tilted back here you can see a really good view that hole so there's a rod right there there's the bottom of a piston that's not even the one that went that one still has its uh cap there's also a crack right there so I don't know either way this thing's so cracked all the way to the oil pan right there there's also a hole on the front of it as well let me see it's going to be kind of hard to see on the camera oh you can barely see it right down in there see that hole there kind of get it's getting a little bit in there yeah there's also a big ass hole right there don't know why this thing broke but it did she exploded but it's out got the whole exhaust still connected and what we're fixing to do right now is while we got it up in the air we're going to we're just going to clean up some of the little messes we made with fluid and then we're going to put the K member back on under here so we can hook up all the suspension so I can put the tires back on it and push yeah so we can roll it around cuz I'll probably need to move it but but motor is out all right so just got the MR2 done oh got the MR2 done got the motor pulled out of there and right now we're going to push it out for tonight cuz that's all we can do on it today and I'm going to pull waggo in real quick and mess with it cuz I need a daily again all right so I just got the MR2 parked out here we took the brake pads out so doesn't have any brakes so that's why there's cinder blocks holding it from rolling down the driveway Hayden's about to get out of here so thank you very much for helping me with that I was going to pull waggo in but I really don't feel like it cuz I'm tired it's getting late need to edit this video and go to bed so pretty soon this will be going into the MR2 but now we just got to what do motor mounts Excell we got to do a lot of stuff but excellent first we got to get the I need to get a for it still and then we'll start fabbing the motor mounts up or I might buy some because they do make it I'm just not sure yet we're we're going to see about that they are expensive so we'll see we might have to Fab them up ourselves it shouldn't be too bad though and Charlie's over there somewhere and he did just get his heater working again and his oil line is fixed it's like he's just letting it idle I don't know what he's doing but Charlie's Car Charlie's car is good as well so so now Mitch has no car Mitch's truck is still broke we don't know what happened to it cuz we pulled it back in earlier tonight and it's fuel pump like took a or something I think he said it a gasket is bad and it's getting air in there so yeah he has to get a new gasket for something but pretty much it got the MR2 swapped we did that pretty fast so stay tuned\n"
