Managing Burnout and Finding Balance

As someone who has built a successful career around creating content, I can attest that burnout is a very real concern for many professionals in this field. Even experienced individuals like myself, who have been in the industry for years, are not immune to feeling overwhelmed and drained. When you're constantly producing content at a high pace, it's easy to neglect your own well-being and lose sight of what's truly important.

To combat burnout, I've found that finding healthy outlets is essential. For me, one of those outlets has been golfing again. After 25 years of playing, I took lessons to revisit the fundamentals of my game and enjoy it once more. Golfing has become a great way for me to unwind and clear my mind, which is especially important during times of high stress or pressure.

Another factor that's contributed to my burnout was the attention my car, a 350Z, received on social media. With so many people following my channel, it can be challenging to balance personal life with professional responsibilities. I recently had to make the difficult decision to sell the 350Z, which took up a significant amount of my time and attention. While this was necessary for me to focus on other aspects of my life, it also meant that I had to navigate some uncomfortable conversations with fans who were disappointed by the sale.

One thing that's helped me stay grounded is having a clear sense of priorities and goals. Each year, I take some time to reflect on what I want to achieve in the coming year. For 2014, my goal was to get out of debt – which I was able to accomplish. In 2015, I focused on getting into shape better and taking care of my physical health. And for 2016, I concentrated on expanding the channel in an organic way, without sacrificing the foundation I had built.

This approach has helped me maintain a sense of balance and avoid feeling overwhelmed by external pressures or expectations. While it's true that growing a successful YouTube channel requires a certain level of commitment and sacrifice, it's also essential to prioritize my own needs and well-being. By doing so, I've been able to create content that resonates with my audience while staying true to myself.

One thing that might surprise you is how much I value this off-the-cuff video style, where I'm essentially just hanging out with you guys while we chat about various topics. While it may not be the most conventional approach, I think it's what sets me apart from other creators and allows us to build a connection that feels authentic and personal. That being said, there are times when it's necessary to adapt and evolve as a creator, but for now, I'm happy with where this style has taken me.

so this Vlog is going to be specifically kind of like a starter prequel video to what's going to be the Skunk Works update which I've been talking about for a while uh so there's the loop right there or the system you can see that it's turning more and more orange and I want to address something real quick a lot of people said well Jay you shouldn't be using tyon tubing with your uh with your pastel that's why it's turning that color um that's my fault because I forgot to update the uh PC part picker with this where I removed the tyon which I had in here before and ended up going with the pratu LRT tubing so which is not a tyon based tube so it's uh it's still changing colors due to other things and it's happening to a lot of people so that's why I am changing the fluids uh but what I wanted to do today was want to show you just how freaking messy this off I know this doesn't look like a big mess to a lot of people I know it doesn't doesn't uh but to me it is I I don't like clutter and uh it's driving me nuts but anyway what I'm going to do today is I'm going to show you guys some of the parts that I've chosen we are changing a few things in the system again no I am not going with um four-way SLI I thought about it I really really thought about it but no I'm not going to do that so anyway let's look at the parts that I'm going to be putting in here so the parts have started to arrive and never mind that right there that is a mini ITX stuff that I'm kind of working on for something else uh but these are just some of the parts have arrived already you can see I've Got 5 L of the Primo chill uh PC pure which is a a I'm going to try this stuff out it's clear as you can see uh but we're going to be doing some mixing we'll actually do that today we'll mix in some orange mayhems dye and we'll see how the color turns on one of those bottles it's one of the reasons why I have so much uh I could pour some of it out into like a water bottle put in some drops and see how it reacts to it um we got a few more EK water blocks here um gigabyte x99 s Champion motherboard and I I tweeted out that this motherboard might not work for me because of the way the PCI uh e configuration is where basically the way this board works and let me actually take this out real quick for you guys okay so here it is right here as you can see obviously I went with this board because of the orange theme it's also a fantastic overclocking motherboard it's got the features I wanted um corrects a couple of things that I didn't like about the EVGA classified x99 still probably the most solid motherboard you can buy for x99 platform but I had a couple things I didn't like for instance as you can see right there uh that 90° uh cable right there it puts a lot of stress on that plug with the way it's laid out in the case Labs case you can't really tell but it is being pushed up against that wall really hard um the other thing is the way that the USB 3.0 is down there um kind of comes off as a funky Bend uh it points straight down instead of straight up it's it's pointing uh see where's my finger it's pointing down that way instead of like coming at you so it's going to correct some of that um but one of the things to mention with this board and why I said on Twitter I probably wouldn't be able to use it but their gigabyte team did get back to me uh was the way that this is configured is it's PCI Express 1 which is direct connect to the CPU socket uh PCI Express 4 2 3 so the reason why they do that is one into a space out like this so if you have Standard air cooling cards then you have plenty of air gap in here uh so that you have good air flow for your cards so they actually include two three-way SLI Bridges with this motherboard and the reason why they do that is one is for the 5820k and the way it's allocated with PCI Express Lanes uh and then one is for 5930k and 5960x and so if I was to do one up here and then down here and down here with that Gap it would look really stupid with the water cooling it wouldn't like look nice and evenly gapped like that is it would look terrible with this big gap here now in the manual it says if I was to do the top 3 that it would do 16x 8X 4X and I'm going Ah that's not going to work at all so I contacted gigabyte uh someone on Twitter actually told me uh no Jade actually should go 8X 8X 16x the manual that I have doesn't say that I read it multiple times uh but I did ask gigabytes technical team they did say it will go 88 6 so you were correct sir shout out to you uh good call on that and so I might lose a couple of percent of you know benchmarking performance by going 8816 rather than having 16 pci3 on the native PCI Express Lane to the CPU but that's not a big deal this system is more about kind of show and just being really over the top than it is about breaking any records or anything like that I'm not going for record breaking so it doesn't matter uh but it's got the headers that I want in the position that I want them to be in and so the other thing that this motherboard had going for it is that we have a water block for it so I am going to be including the Southbridge well actually the chipset not South Bridge been a long time since we had a Southbridge uh and Northbridge stuff going on here um the chipset and the vrm uh the vrms are going to be cooled on this motherboard now one of the things some people have said was well Jay it uh it only has four memory slots well that's okay I never run eight channels because eight channels but eight dims because when you're overclocking uh the more dims you add puts more stress on the memory controllers and it can actually reduce your Max overclocks and your uh memory speed so having four is why gigabyte did this it's actually better for stable overclocking and that is what the S so is meant for uh as you can see here I do also have and it's a pretty close match if you ask me look at the color on that that's a really close match um these are special tops here for the ram as you may have seen is already in the system right there uh I've already plugged that in playing around some of the overclocking on the Ram uh Corsair Dominator Platinum 32 GB of it uh 3,000 MHz Ram so that's going in there but I'm going be putting these orange Tops on there so they are going to also have some orange going on you have taken the orange theme very serious um EK Supremacy Evo block the reason for this is it's going to look identical to that one is that one is not an EVO it is not actually it doesn't have the uh the ideal channeling in there for x99 and because that uh block has been around for a while and this has been out for a while uh the upgrade kit wasn't available so I just performance pc sent me over a new block and by the way all this stuff that you see here minus the motherboard uh was sent by performance pc so huge shout out to them they'll be getting quite a few shout outs in this series there's probably going to be several videos here uh yeah they've made that possible um a few more fittings here to make sure that I have plenty of the uh revolver fittings here from primach chill for the rigid tubing uh that way I can make sure when I put them on the motherboard and stuff that I've got plenty don't want to run out rather have more fittings than not enough and then we've got some more fresh soft tubing now Jay makes mistakes and it's funny that you know I do videos about how to choose your tubing and stuff when I accident didn't pay attention what I was ordering and as you can see right there I ordered thin wall tubing and my compressions will not work with this because I need thick wall tubing so I've got I've got to get more tubing but I can turn this stuff into like um drain hose or fill hose or whatever I don't like the thin wall stuff because as you can see it Kinks like really easy I mean you don't have to put much of a bend on this stuff to get it to uh to Kink do you see that I mean it's it Kinks really easy so that's why I don't like thin wall uh let's see what else do we have here oh we got some more this is petg Crystal link tubing the tubes that I have in between the graphics cards right there that's acrylic um it's bits power um acrylic very very thin 10 x 12 mm so you can't bend that or anything but I also don't want there to be any chances of cracking it's been reused on every build so I don't want to reuse that tubing anymore I have got petg here and then uh this is also just 12 12 sticks of 3T or 36 in petg tubing so that I can redo any bends I'm not certain that the socket's going to be in the same position on this motherboard here as it is there so as a chance I have to redo that bend again and then obviously this Bend isn't going to work because I'm doing the motherboard block so I'm going to have a lot of tubing going on right there but anyway let's do this now let's let's open up one of these Primo chill PC Pure Performance fluids and let's go ahead and pour some of it into like a water bottle and get my phone to stop ringing and we they're calling me to tell me that my car is ready my 350Z was getting some uh getting some maintenance done but anyway um yeah let's pour some of that into a water bottle and then we will see how the how the Dy actually mixes see how what it takes to make it kind of match this Orange um and also too the only thing I'm waiting on to start the build here is cables which sanctum is hooking me up with and they're making them as we speak should happen by next week and then I probably will end up reusing these fans again and repainting these Rings uh a matched to Orange so I guess we'll go from there all right let me uh let me go get a water bottle I'll BRB so I just went and drank me a refreshing bottle of water to be nice and healthy but here is the primochill uh clear what do they call it their performance fluid uh PC pure so it's clear it looks slightly cloudy but that's because because of the bottle um it's got their corrosive Inhibitors in there anti-growth Inhibitors but it's it's very pure fluid and I kind of want the fluid to look like orange Gatorade if you will I'm I'm kind of over the pastel you know can't see through it kind of thing I do like the shininess that clear shows uh but anyway I'm going to go ahead and pour some of this in here and then we'll do some of the orange dye even though the lid it looks like yellow um it's just the way the camera's picking it up one of the dots is much more orange than the other but they are the same uh at least according to the labels they're all the same this one just just looks like a little bit newer bottle so I don't know I guess we'll see hopefully these are all the same I better make sure I use the same bottle for all of it well it doesn't look like it reacted weird at all uh obviously when I shook it it air rated it up a little bit but that's kind of the color I'm going for see how it kind of looks like orange Gatorade um since it doesn't seem like anything weird is happening I guess I go ahead and pour this back into that bottle we'll put some more drops in there and see how how it does but yeah I'm liking that color though I mean it's um a little bit darker than the than the tops are for the ram but that's okay because we got some you know plenty of Orange going on here I that's kind of neat looking I like that that's actually air those are air bubbles they look like floaties like you know backwash but there not that's kind of weird I think that's pretty good I think that's what we're going to do you're going to use it like that not too orange but not too clear like not too light either it's just right in my opinion I like that that looks good let's put the ram tops over there there see that's all you got to do I mean if you guys want custom color you don't have to Rack your brain trying to find someone selling the color you want you just make the color you want and if they don't sell the dye you want dyes especially in clear fluids you can mix them just like paint and get the color that you want it looks sweet I like it like I said you don't need to go crazy trying to find someone who makes the color fluid you want just make it yourself absolutely uh but anyway the build will probably be starting next week um trust me I want to get it started now and get it done with uh because I'm tired of looking at that I really really am hi guys uh I I'm really tired of looking at that and and I even have to be creative in my videos to make sure it doesn't even get like in shot that way like that or something because I'm so tired of the comments of oh my God is your fluid change in color again when I already made a video about it also too there's something else I did over the Thanksgiving weekend and I'll kind of give you guys a sneak peek at that real quick um I'll just kind of do that at the end of the video here and like the end slate but before I do that I just want to say thanks guys for all of your support uh I didn't get a chance to put up a Thanksgiving Video I took some much needed uh I think it's dirty I think it's oh sorry add I took some much needed time away from gaming and from computers and from YouTube and even social media I just had to completely like unplugg for the most part I I still responded to some things but I'm just I needed a break I love you guys but I needed a break it's like it's not it's not you it's me I swear it's not you it's me we're we're good though we're we're good now we're past it uh but yeah this is just this is a very tiring time of year that's why this office is such a disaster with everything messy everywhere because of the fact that everyone everyone especially this time of year everyone wants their videos everyone wants their videos and they want it now they want their products they want everyone to go buy their products and stuff and um they want me to like show you guys hey check this is what's new do a video do a video I'm one person I'm one person with a release schedule that's manageable for one person yeah I could do daily uploads but then the video quality quality would suffer more than they already do and I would completely burn out burnout is already a realistic thing that I'm facing uh and I'm doing the best I can to manage that but I think everyone who does this for a living obviously faces burnout I mean I know even guys like line his face burn out um but when you go at a constant Pace uh it's important to find Outlets so that's why lately I've been golfing again uh even went back to take golf lessons cuz it I've golfed for 25 years yeah 25 years um but my golf swing and stuff went to you know I just lost a lot of the fundamentals so I got that dialed back in now I'm enjoying the game again you guys know I had the 350Z it's taken up a lot of my um attention away from the office um if you guys follow on social media you notice I put up a post saying I'm selling the 350Z because I uh well you guys will see it at the end of the video anyway just make sure you stay tuned at the end um but anyway yeah the the things are good with the channel in fact things are almost too good and that's part of the problem is it's like I can't handle everything everybody wants uh which inevitably means that some companies get left out then they get their feelings hurt and then they want to hold it against me and it's just sucks and then on top of that it's like okay you deal with Fallout from the audience because you try and put food on your family's plate you know you try and keep a roof over your head as best you can uh and at the same time live you know cuz people people like to be judgmental and say oh my God J why you buying a sports car you know you if you do running all these ads you know then you could afford your sports car but it's not about that I'm still a person with hobbies and and it's my business what I do uh with my money on a personal level so that's what I'm dealing with and that's why now that we're coming to the end of the year every year I have like a sort of like a resol not really a resolution ution but like a year of cuz I make sure I call it a year of for the fact that if you call it a resolution those fail a lot of people's resolutions fail so that's why 2014 was the get out of debt year where I I got out got completely out of credit card debt got out of IRS debt got out of medical bills debt every single debt you can imagine I had my wife and I had 11 credit cards uh all of that is gone paid off completely debt free uh except for you know car payment but uh you guys can learn more about that on my Vlog channel it's j says j a yzs a y s you guys can go over there I've got lots of Vlogs about that stuff if you want to know more about it 2015 was my get into uh you know get into shape better your health year and I think I've done that too 2016 is more I feel like the year of expansion where the channel has to expand in some way but it needs to expand in an organic way where it's not going to feel like the the foundation I built my channel on is going to change because I don't want to change that I I like this off-the-cuff video style where it's like you guys are just in here with me hanging out while we do this thing and I think a lot of you like that too where if I turn too corporate or too too big if you will in the production style and all of that that I think that may uh although it it may help the channel grow I think it would create a disconnect at the same time better make sure I use the same bottle for all of it well it doesn't look like it reacted weird at all uh obviously when I shook it it air rated it up a little bit but that's kind of the color I'm going for see how it kind of looks like orange Gatorade um since it doesn't seem like anything weird is happening I guess I go ahead and pour this back into that bottle we'll put some more drops in there and see how how it does but yeah I'm liking that color though I mean it's um a little bit darker than the than the tops are for the ram but that's okay because we got some you know plenty of Orange going on here I that's kind of neat looking I like that that's actually air those are air bubbles they look like floaties like you know backwash but there not that's kind of weird I think that's pretty good I think that's what we're going to do you're going to use it like that not too orange but not too clear like not too light either it's just right in my opinion I like that that looks good let's put the ram tops over there there see that's all you got to do I mean if you guys want custom color you don't have to Rack your brain trying to find someone selling the color you want you just make the color you want and if they don't sell the dye you want dyes especially in clear fluids you can mix them just like paint and get the color that you want it looks sweet I like it like I said you don't need to go crazy trying to find someone who makes the color fluid you want just make it yourself absolutely uh but anyway the build will probably be starting next week um trust me I want to get it started now and get it done with uh because I'm tired of looking at that I really really am hi guys uh I I'm really tired of looking at that and and I even have to be creative in my videos to make sure it doesn't even get like in shot that way like that or something because I'm so tired of the comments of oh my God is your fluid change in color again when I already made a video about it also too there's something else I did over the Thanksgiving weekend and I'll kind of give you guys a sneak peek at that real quick um I'll just kind of do that at the end of the video here and like the end slate but before I do that I just want to say thanks guys for all of your support uh I didn't get a chance to put up a Thanksgiving Video I took some much needed uh I think it's dirty I think it's oh sorry add I took some much needed time away from gaming and from computers and from YouTube and even social media I just had to completely like unplugg for the most part I I still responded to some things but I'm just I needed a break I love you guys but I needed a break it's like it's not it's not you it's me I swear it's not you it's me we're we're good though we're we're good now we're past it uh but yeah this is just this is a very tiring time of year that's why this office is such a disaster with everything messy everywhere because of the fact that everyone everyone especially this time of year everyone wants their videos everyone wants their videos and they want it now they want their products they want everyone to go buy their products and stuff and um they want me to like show you guys hey check this is what's new do a video do a video I'm one person I'm one person with a release schedule that's manageable for one person yeah I could do daily uploads but then the video quality quality would suffer more than they already do and I would completely burn out burnout is already a realistic thing that I'm facing uh and I'm doing the best I can to manage that but I think everyone who does this for a living obviously faces burnout I mean I know even guys like line his face burn out um but when you go at a constant Pace uh it's important to find Outlets so that's why lately I've been golfing again uh even went back to take golf lessons cuz it I've golfed for 25 years yeah 25 years um but my golf swing and stuff went to you know I just lost a lot of the fundamentals so I got that dialed back in now I'm enjoying the game again you guys know I had the 350Z it's taken up a lot of my um attention away from the office um if you guys follow on social media you notice I put up a post saying I'm selling the 350Z because I uh well you guys will see it at the end of the video anyway just make sure you stay tuned at the end um but anyway yeah the the things are good with the channel in fact things are almost too good and that's part of the problem is it's like I can't handle everything everybody wants uh which inevitably means that some companies get left out then they get their feelings hurt and then they want to hold it against me and it's just sucks and then on top of that it's like okay you deal with Fallout from the audience because you try and put food on your family's plate you know you try and keep a roof over your head as best you can uh and at the same time live you know cuz people people like to be judgmental and say oh my God J why you buying a sports car you know you if you do running all these ads you know then you could afford your sports car but it's not about that I'm still a person with hobbies and and it's my business what I do uh with my money on a personal level so that's what I'm dealing with and that's why now that we're coming to the end of the year every year I have like a sort of like a resol not really a resolution ution but like a year of cuz I make sure I call it a year of for the fact that if you call it a resolution those fail a lot of people's resolutions fail so that's why 2014 was the get out of debt year where I I got out got completely out of credit card debt got out of IRS debt got out of medical bills debt every single debt you can imagine I had my wife and I had 11 credit cards uh all of that is gone paid off completely debt free uh except for you know car payment but uh you guys can learn more about that on my Vlog channel it's j says j a yzs a y s you guys can go over there I've got lots of Vlogs about that stuff if you want to know more about it 2015 was my get into uh you know get into shape better your health year and I think I've done that too 2016 is more I feel like the year of expansion where the channel has to expand in some way but it needs to expand in an organic way where it's not going to feel like the the foundation I built my channel on is going to change because I don't want to change that I I like this off-the-cuff video style where it's like you guys are just in here with me hanging out while we do this thing and I think a lot of you like that too where if I turn too corporate or too too big if you will in the production style and all of that that I think that may uh although it it may help the channel grow I think it would create a disconnect at the same time between you guys and me and I enjoy this connection that we have we have we have a beautiful thing um we're totally on fleek but anyway guys I just thought I would do a vlog today it's been a while since I've I've vlogged and talked talk to you guys just mono Mano anyway um I am going to go ahead and hop on out of here make sure you guys check the ins slate and you
