**The Donut Car: A Journey with Wish.com Parts**
In this video, the hosts, Zach and James, take on a new project, installing parts from wish.com on their car, affectionately known as "Donut." This journey is filled with ups and downs, showcasing the challenges of working with lower-quality car parts.
**The Installation Process**
Zach begins by installing DNA Motoring Coil-VW85-RD coilovers on the car. These lowering springs are designed for 1985 to 1998 Golf/Jetta Mark 2 4-cylinder cars, making them a great fit for Donut. The process involves attaching the red springs to the car's suspension system, which looks more impressive than expected.
**First Test Drive**
After completing the installation, Justin takes Donut out for a test drive to see how it handles with the new coilovers. Unfortunately, the ride is less than smooth, and the car seems to be higher off the ground than before. The hosts discuss their expectations versus reality, acknowledging that historically, wish.com parts haven't been of high quality.
**Disappointment**
The first test drive ends in disappointment as the car's ride is uncomfortable, and it even dies mid-drive. The hosts conclude that these particular coilovers are not worth keeping on the car and will be replaced with proper ones. This experience serves as a warning to others considering purchasing similar parts from wish.com.
**The Shifter Ninja**
Later in the video, Zach mentions his desire for a manual transmission but has an automatic car. He introduces the "shifterninja," a cup holder shifter designed to mimic the feel of a gated shifter on various cars, including Toyotas and Teslas. Unfortunately, this product does not fit their car's cup holder, rendering it unusable.
**Conclusion**
This video showcases the challenges and frustrations that can come with working with lower-quality car parts from wish.com. The hosts' experience serves as a cautionary tale for others considering similar projects, highlighting the importance of proper research and quality assurance when modifying or repairing vehicles.
WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- Oh, this is gonna hurt you guys.(all laughing)- This is the worst drivingcar I'd ever driven.- I feel like I'm gonna throw up.- So we bought a new carand like every new projectthis thing needs some modification. So we went to our favorite websiteto buy car parts from, wish.com.Today we're gonna install it on the carand see if it's goodenough to stay on the car,and if it's not, then itgoes straight in the trash.- We're taking this car serious as heck.- He's Zach, I'm James, andthis is freaking Donut, baby.- Yeah, get some.- Thanks to Jackery forsponsoring today's video.Sure, there's Flag Dayand Valentine's Day,but for my money the mostunderrated holiday is Jackery Day.It's Jackery's biggest andmost important day of the year, and it's right aroundthe corner on May 12th.And this Jackery Day will be celebratedwith the unveiling of a brand new, incredibly powerful Jackery model. But you can also celebratewith the traditionalJackery Day festivitieslike my favorite poweringan entire refrigeratorwith the Explorer 1,000,Jackery's most popular powerhousewith the ability to supply1,000 Watts from multiple portslike AC outlets, a DC carport and USB charging ports. Then of course, there's thetraditional Jackery Day Feast,a rotisserie chicken, sideof buttery mashed potatoesand a Jackery's solar generator, 1500.This power behemoth has a massive 1800running wattage capacitypowering 99% of your devicesin the event of a poweroutage, winter storm,or just out camping.Take that Dino juice. So click that link in the description, and make sure to putJackery Day in your calendaron May 12th, because Jackeryis unleashing a new beast, that's everything those generators are, plus even more featuresand more power, baby. Now it's time for theJackery Day traditiondancing to public domain music, hit it.(rock music)- We've installed wish.comparts on cars before,Zach, what are your expectations?- Through the floor, very low.- Historically, they havenot been very high qualitybut maybe we will be surprised.- I would say, if one of these thingsis good enough to stayon the car permanently,we're doing pretty good.- All right, first up, oneof the first things you do--- You lower it.- To your car, you lower it.- Slam it.- Put wheels on it.So we have some DNA MotoringCoil-VW85-RD for 1985 to 1998Golf/Jetta Mark 2 4-cylinderadjustable scaled suspensioncoilover, Red Springs.- Red Springs are obviously the bestand these ones are height adjustable.- Warning, first thing, this product containschemicals known to the state. And I'll tell you what state,it could be like the stateas in like the government.- All right, well, let's seethe actual parts, DNA Motoring.- They're heavy.- Usually, a lowering spring setfrom like a reputable company,it'll cost you 150, 200,250, somewhere in that range. So, fraction of the price, 25%.I mean, so far they reallydon't look that bad.- I mean, they're metal.- Yeah, they're metal, decent rubber bump stop, these collars are actually decent. The threads cut in 'em look okay.- These are definitelynot the worst coiloversthat I've been installed on a Donut car.- Definitely not.- Let's put 'em on the car, take 'em for a quick driveand see how they ride. It's a couple days later,Justin has installed thecoilovers on the Cabrio.I don't look any different.(man screaming)But hopefully the car does.Let's see what these$60 coilovers look like, then let's take it for adrive and see how they ride.It looks higher.(both laughs)Why does it look higher? It's supposed to go lower.- So, the back is lower.- Okay, what happened to the front?- So I gotta show you something.(car squeaking)- Oh yeah, that's what you want.- Yeah.- That's what you want.- It's got actual spring to it.Let's do the front.- Oh God.- So those Springs aredefinitely four rear springs. The back work flawless.- Yeah.- The adjustable purchase for thosedidn't fit around the strut on the front.- Okay.- So I had to reverse it.So I did spring firstand then the perch on topto make the top adjustable. So it's just metal tometal contact right now.(all laughs)- You guys squatted a Golf.- Okay, so we are doing a test driveto feel our new $60 coilovers.Oh, this is gonna hurt you guys.- Yeah, take it at speed.(all laughs)- This is the worst drivingcar I've ever driven.(all laughs)- I feel like I'm gonna throw up.I'm like getting motion signals.- Are you really?- Yeah.- I hate the ride, but I love this car. This is great.- it just died.Don't buy $60 coilovers off of Wish, they're not worth it.This is the worst drivingcar I've ever driven, and I've driven a lot of car. These will not be staying on the car,we'll be replacing itwith proper coilovers andsome very cool wheels.(upbeat music)One thing that car enthusiastslove is a manual car.You can't go on the internet these dayswithout hearing someonechirping about save themanual, save the manuals.- So what do you do ifyou have an automatic carbut you wish it was manual?- Well, luckily, Zach, Ihave a product for you.Introducing the shifterninja, cup holder shifter. They're available for Toyotas,Tesla, Subarus, Scions,Nissans, Mazdas, Kias, Jeeps, Hyundais,Hondas, Fords, Chevrolets, not VWs.- It's almost like a fidget spinner.- Yeah, so if like one of us is drivingand then the passenger is sitting there,we can shift too.- Yeah.- This basically goes in your cup holderand makes it look likeyou have a gated shifter.- Oh, and is thatactually made for the sizeof the like specific tothe Tesla cup holder?Well, all right, I mean,I'm honestly surprised, $50?(James laughs)- It's custom dude. All right, let's look at this thing.What?- What's dinky.- It's 3D printed.- Does it feel like Audi RA?- It's very short action.- Dude, short throat.- It feels like I'm gonna break it.- Yeah, totally.- It's not as like heavy duty as I wanted.- Yeah, I mean, it feelskind of like a shifter.Well, let's go throw it in the carand see how she feels.- Yeah, so we've run into an issue. It does not fit in our cup holder.- Oh, I hate it whenmy car parts don't fit. What about if you squishit between your legs?- May I put it between yours?- Oh, yeah. And you know, anybody elsedriving by would thinkthat you're totally just shifting.- Yeah, so this thingdoesn't fit in our car,so we're not gonna keep it in our car,but you can bet your butt, you're gonna see it onthat desk every week. All right, next product.Okay, so this is an 8M--- Wait a minute, 3M.(both laughs)I mean let's be honest.- It's over twice as good as 3M.Roll Rimblades car vehiclecolor, wheel rims protectors, decor, strip tire guard, line rubber molding, trim for car decoration accessories.- Wheel rim protector. So like if you're curbing it.- Shelley says, four stars."Haven't tried it yet,"but it looks like it willwork just fine, thanks."- Is that a real person?- It's like, you know what?I'm gonna write a review now.- Yeah, I don't wannawait until I actually knowwhat it's like.- I'm gonna go ahead andget it out of the way, then I'll try theproduct and I'll be done.- Just review based on my intuitions.Ooh, what color did you get us?Any guesses?- I bet it's duty brown.- Red.- And it matches our springs.- That's a good point.- 'Cause red is for racing.- All right, let's gojam this on the wheelsand then hit the curves.- Hit them with a hammer.Okay, so it's not reallysticking for the most part.- We run into this a lotwith wish.com products. The adhesive on the backis rarely very good. That is amazing, dude.- As they say, wuolah. That'll definitely stop some curb rash, there's no way that'snot gonna come right off.- So we've installed the curbrash protectors on our wheels. Now it's time to see if they protect them.(engine roaring)- Keep driving, keep driving, you're good, you're good, now turn around, that's it.- How did they do?- Quit terribly, I can't...Hold on, that's polish smooth. So rough, like a rock.- Needless to say,I don't think these aregonna stay on the car.Dude, if there's one thing thatI think every car is missingit's a skull exhaust.New metal head bone exhaust tip, motorcycle exhaust pipe, car accessory, 2.5 inch.- I always thought it was called a skullbut head bone really it is what it is.Let's see that head bone.- New metal head bone.- Oh, hell yeah.- Way smaller than advertised.- It have a whole lot ofroom for exhaust to come out.- In the picture, the pipe comes outand then the skull is bigger.- Gigantic.- Yeah, this is like aweird looking weenie--- Like look at that guy.And he's like sort offrom the Neanderthal era.Look at how many chins.- Yes, this highly detailed head bonewill make your ride look astonishing! This is a solidly metal exhaust pipe, which can be used as anornament as well as a real use.Our exhaust head bonecan be installed on the car exhaust pipewithout an adapter andwill not restrict airflow.- Yeah, I don't know.- I bet it whistles.Like if I saw a normalperson, I'm not scared of him.If I saw this man, I'd be terrified.- Imagine that man with skin.(both laughs)- He's like a ton of teeth.I know we have a lot ofartistic Donna fans out there, can one of you guys makethis and tag me on Instagram.- Yeah, recreate it.- I wanna see this guy with skin on him.All right, let's put it on the cards.I mean, I already knowthis thing's staying on.- Totally.- Head bone, and I wantto get a license platethat says head bone.(both laughs)- So, the idea here isthat this just slipsonto your exhaust, and then this little hole they've got hereshould be threaded,so you can run a set screw in thereand then it can kind ofclamp onto your exhaust.- And keep it fromrunning around too much.- Right, you don't wannalose your head bone.Yeah, let's make sureit actually slips over.Okay, I ooh, it's gonna be close.Oh heck, I don't think it's gonna fit.Okay, we're rounding back out.Oh, there goes the welds.- Would you say that thisis a performance exhaust?- I would say it's gonnaget slightly less good, the performance.- Well, there's morethan one ways to perform.- That's true. And this is gonna performin the aesthetic sense.- Theatrically performance.- That's great.- We'll just, yeah,we'll go with that.- Looks good.- It's on there.- Should we start her up?- Yeah, give us a world, dude.Oh, heck yeah, dude, he's spitting.Give us some revs.(car engine revving)Oh, you can see him spitting smokes.(car engine revving)- Is it a little cool?(car engine revving)- It's great.- This car don't even shootlike liquid out of the back of it.- Yeah, which is nice for me.- I could definitely hear adifference in the tone for sure.- A little more whistly.A little more like it'scoming out of a tiny hole.- Yeah, which is what you're looking forto performance exhaust. All right, so if we're being honest, the fit and finish is not quite there.- They're close.- It looks way different thanthe picture on the website.Didn't fit the car. That definitely keeps exhaust flowfrom doing what it needsto do, but it looks badass.Sometimes it's all itmatters, so it's staying on.- Wow, I didn't see that coming.- That is a beautiful car.- Naturally.- There's no denying it.One thing it does lack a little bit of.- Yeah.- It's a little down on power.- But what happens when you wanna scream?- A little bit more power, baby.Well, you get yourself forced inductionand wish.com is a great place for that.Right here, we have auniversal turbochargerAMR500 fit for 0.8 to two liter,AMR500 mini supercharge blowerbooster, a bargain at $192.What was the twin turbo kitthat you put on the 350 Z?- It was like six grand.- Yeah, it was like six to $8,000.- That was a rip off nowthat I think about it.- We could have bought a lot of these.- And it's universal, youcould put 'em on anything.- They called it a lotof different stuff there.- Yeah, so many different stuff. Some of it is correct. It can't be a turbo and a super.- The direction of rotation of the chargeris the same as that...It's heavy.- It's made outta metal, that's a good sign.- I mean...- There's a superchargergoing on in there.Part of me just wonders whythe heck these get made?Like it's made outta metal, there's really asupercharge in there, but--- It's a complicatedthing to put together.- Yeah, for that, I justcan't really pictureanybody actually using it.- Yeah, and they'reselling it for 200 bucks. So the price point,it's not like you'reearning any money on it.This is a pretty hard thing to make.- And it's a specificmount, specific belt, like how do you, maybe if you're likemodifying your lawn mower, but let's just see if youfeel any air blow out.I think that's the way it's gonna go.(engine revving)- I mean, it definitely puts the air.(engine revving)I'd say that's like 65, yeah.(engine revving)(both chuckles)- She's sucking and she's pushing.I mean, it's a supercharger, technically this could workbut how the heck do youinstall it on anything?- Yeah, so this isn't completeand there's really no way forus to install it on the car,not without a lot of likefabrication and stuff. But if you want to see avideo of us figuring outhow to put this thing on that thing, let us know in the comments, and if enough of you guys wanna do it,we legally have to do it.- That's the contract we signed.- Yeah.- Let's judge this thing withouthaving used it, as we do.And it's a supercharge- Technically.- It's made outta metal. It makes air go.- It's only 200 bucks.- Yeah, I mean, so it'slike, it's not terrible.I just, I don't know whatyou'd actually use it on.- Right, so this next productcomes to us all the way from Etsy.Problem with most air freshenersand we've tested a lot of 'em,is you don't get to pick what's on them. What if I don't like trees?- Yeah.- This is a custom air freshener. You can get any photo you likewhich I think is a dangerous claim.- One of the worst thingsabout being inside the caris not being able to seethe outside of the car.- Right, and apparentlythat's a very popular option, this guy got the same thing.- Better be a friggingCabrio A, from 1997.If not, you're getting talked.- It might be even better.- Whoa, it's a, oh, take a memory.- It is our old DillasJetta with Vin Diesel in it,from "Fast One."- The bustard brought me back.- So we're gonna pick oneof these to go on the car,the rest of them,we're gonna give away toDonut underground members, that is our membership programgets sweet BTS crap stuff.- That's super unlimitedsupply things like--- Like this and access to our discord.Click that joint buttonto find out more about it.- Clear heart.- Yeah, we're christening the new carwith a little piece of the old car.- Yep, wow, that's beautiful.- Yeah.- Man, now we can never forgetthose sweet fender vents. The carbon fiber cannons, wow.- Wow.- I mean, that's definitely staying. That's a great mod.- My car is officially back from the dead,so naturally we have brandnew Boost Creep shirtsto welcome it back.Boost Creeps can be scary, I know, but they're perfectly harmless, I promise. So go get your newBoost Creep shirts todayat donutmedia.com.(upbeat music)Thank you guys so muchfor watching this videoand everything else on Donut.Oh, if anyone has an experiencewith supercharges like
