**Control Center Improvements**
The Control Center in iOS 13 has seen significant improvements. Long press on the middle of the Wi-Fi Bluetooth widget, and then force touch the Bluetooth icon to see your list of Bluetooth devices or to jump right into more Bluetooth settings in the settings menu. This feature allows for easier management of Bluetooth connections.
**Silencing Unknown Callers**
If you're getting a ton of unwanted calls or you just don't want your phone to ring when a number that's not in your contacts calls you, you can actually silence unknown callers. To do this, go into the Phone section of the Settings app and select the toggle "Silence Unknown Callers." This will block all unknown callers, cutting down on spam calls.
**Low Data Mode**
Under Cellular in the settings menu, there's an option to enable low data mode. When activated, it helps apps on your iPhone reduce their network data use. Additionally, there's a low data mode option that can be enabled for specific Wi-Fi networks in the Safari section of the Settings app.
**Auto-Closing Tabs**
In Safari, under the Settings menu, there's a new option to automatically close all of the tabs that you have open. You can set it to "Day," "Week," "Month," or leave it on manual, which is how it currently works. This feature helps declutter your browser and reduce distractions.
**App Updates**
To update applications in iOS 13, open up the App Store, tap on your profile picture in the top right corner, and choose "Apps" from the pending updates section. In iOS 12, there was an update tab, but it's been replaced by an Apple Arcade tab. If you decide not to update an app because you actually want to delete it, you can do so directly from the update screen by swiping left on the specific application.
**Volume HUD**
In iOS 13, the Volume HUD is a lot better than in previous years. If you really need to reduce volume quickly, you can even control the Volume HUD as a slider by simply pressing and sliding your finger up and down on the screen.
**Share Sheet Improvements**
iOS 13 brings a new Share Sheet that looks and functions much better than previous years. My favorite feature is the suggestion of whom or how to share based on some of the more frequent methods, such as Air Dropping to an iMac or sharing links or images with contacts in Messages.
**Controller Support**
Apple has announced support for PS4 and Xbox One S controller support on Apple TV. These controllers will also be supported on iPhone and iPad. Simply activate Bluetooth pairing on your controller and head into the Bluetooth settings menu of your iOS device to pair it.
**New Gestures**
There are new copy and paste gestures in iOS 13 that work better on larger screens. To copy text, perform a pinch in with three fingers. To paste, perform a pinch out with three fingers. If you made a mistake, swipe left with three fingers or right with three fingers to undo.
**Cursor Navigation**
Navigating with the cursor is also easier than ever in iOS 13. Simply tap and drag the cursor anywhere on the screen; no more worrying about accidental highlighting or bringing up unwanted menus.
**Mute Threads**
If you swipe on a message in the Mail app and then choose "More," there's now a new option to mute a thread so that you won't get notifications when a new email is received in that thread. This feature was mentioned previously, but it's still pretty awesome and worth another mention.
**Swipe to Type**
Swiftly 3 has officially become available in the stock iPhone keyboard. To enable swipe-to-type, slide your fingers throughout the keyboard, and let the predictive text do the rest of the work for faster and more efficient typing.
**Full-Page Screenshots**
You can now take full-page screenshots inside of Safari. Simply take a screenshot and then click on the "Full Page" option, which exports the entire webpage as a PDF that you can save or share.
**Requesting Desktop Websites**
Inside of iOS 13, requesting the desktop version of a website is easier than ever. Tap on the text icon in the top left corner and select "Request Desktop Version." If you want this specific website to always default to its desktop version, select Website Settings and toggle on "Request Desktop Site."
**Reading Goals**
In the Books app, there's now a new feature called Reading Goals that keeps track of how long you've read each day. The app also encourages you to read every day, and you can keep track of your stats and finish more books if you're using iOS 13 and have set your goal to read more.
