Nikon D5200, S1 & J3 Hands On!

Reporting Live from CES 2013: Nikon's Latest Camera Announcements

Hey guys, this is Austin and today I'm here reporting live from CES 2013 at the Nikon Booth to take a look at some of their new cameras. They announced the new DSLR as well as a couple of new one series compacts, so let's take a look to start with.

First up, we have the Nikon S1, which is the new lower end of the one series and starts only $499. For starters, it does look as if it has a couple of features from the others, but it still has a 10 megapixel camera, as well as all the other features including 1080p video and all that kind of stuff. As you can see here, the kit lens and everything is all the same color - for example, there's green, and there are other different colors that you can choose from. Both of these cameras will be on sale in early February, with the S1 going for $4.99 and the j3 going for $599, both with kit lenses.

Now, let's take a look at the Nikon j3, which adds a couple of extra features to the lower end one series. For example, it does have a higher resolution 921,000 LCD, which is definitely good - looks much better for framing and all that kind of fun stuff. You also do have a mode dial up top, which again has more F manual controls - great! But the big deal here is the fact that it does have a 14 megapixel sensor, so 10 megapixels is definitely usable, and a lot of people think that you need more when you really don't. Having those extra 4 megapixels is definitely going to be a nice thing to have.

The other major camera announcement at the show is the Nikon D5200, now - of course, the D5100 was their kind of middle range DSLR, and this is the newer version of that. It does have several key features from the v5100, so for example, you have this tilty, uh, flippy screen - so for example, I could shoot low or high or whatever I want to do and on top of that it also does have a brand new 24 megapixel sensor off sensor. So, still crop sensor but still 24 megapixels - I believe it's probably the same as the D3200, not 100% sure, but regardless if it is like the D3200, you can expect some very nice performance.

This will be on sale a little bit later on this year for about $88.99. Anyway, guys, it's going to be about it - if you enjoyed it, definitely be sure to leave this video a thumbs up and subscribe for more CS 2013 content - anyway, guys, I'll catch you next time.
