The Everyday Dad's Experiment with DJI Spark Props and Mavic Air
As one of the most portable drones ever made, the DJI Mavic Air is a popular choice among drone enthusiasts. However, we wondered if it could be even more portable by utilizing the DJI Spark props. In this article, we'll explore the results of an experiment where the Everyday Dad attempted to use the DJI Spark props on the Mavic Air.
The Experiment Begins
The Everyday Dad started by turning to frequent commenter and longtime subscriber Bill Utah for information on how to potentially put the DJI Spark props on the DJI Mavic Air. After some research, they discovered that it was possible to attach the spark props to the drone, so they decided to give it a try. To their surprise, the spark props fit perfectly on the Mavic Air. The Everyday Dad then wondered if these modified props would affect the flight characteristics of the drone.
Noise Test
To test the noise level of both regular props and spark props, the Everyday Dad conducted a quick noise test. This involved flying the drone with both sets of propellers and comparing their sound levels. Unfortunately, the results were inconclusive, as the difference between the two was not significantly noticeable.
Flight Tests
Next, the Everyday Dad performed flight tests on both regular mode and sport mode with both regular props and spark props. They aimed to see how fast the drone could accelerate and how far it could go in each mode. After flying for a while, they had to take a break due to rain and headed back to their house for further testing.
Battery Test
Before returning to the test flight, the Everyday Dad conducted a battery test at their house. They started both drones with fresh batteries and observed how long they could hover. Although this was not an official battery test, it helped them understand the difference in flight lengths between the regular props and spark props.
The Results
After conducting various tests, the Everyday Dad concluded that using DJI Spark props on a Mavic Air is not recommended. While both drones fly at similar speeds, the results show no significant benefits from using spark props. In fact, the battery life was worse with the spark props due to altered flight characteristics. The Everyday Dad also mentioned that modifying the drone's propellers could be dangerous and alter its safety features.
Compatibility
One interesting aspect of this experiment is that the Mavic Air and DJI Spark props are dual compatible, meaning they can work together seamlessly. However, it's essential to note that the Mavic Air props won't fit on a DJI Spark due to their size. The Everyday Dad tried this out but was unable to make it work.
The Verdict
In conclusion, the Everyday Dad's experiment with using DJI Spark props on a Mavic Air shows that while they can be used, there are no significant benefits. In fact, the results suggest that altering the drone's propellers could compromise its safety features and battery life. The Everyday Dad advises against using spark props on a Mavic Air unless you're willing to accept potential risks.
A Word of Caution
Before attempting any modifications or experiments with your drone, it's crucial to remember that they can affect the safety and performance of the device. Always follow manufacturer guidelines and ensure you have proper knowledge before making any changes.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthe DJ I'm AdvoCare is one of the most portable drones ever made can we make it more portable what's up everybody I'm the everyday dad if I can figure it out you can figure it out so big thanks to frequent commenter and longtime subscriber bill Utah for turning me on to the fact that you can potentially put the DJ our spark props on the DJ I'm advocare let's see if they fit holy cow they fit let's see if it flies holy cow it flies so what we're gonna check today's we're gonna check loudness we're gonna check battery life we're gonna check top speed we're gonna check acceleration we're gonna see how these propellers affect the use of the Mavic air now as a word of warning these are not the props that are designed for the Mavic air so you are changing the flight characteristics of this drone up so I would advise you do not do this so first up let's do a quick noise test of the regular props versus the spark props next up we're going to do both regular mode and sport mode flying forward and see how fast it accelerates and how fast you can actually go okay so we were out there flying started a rain came back so we had to wit break and do the battery test at the everyday house so if you're wondering why it looks difference cuz we had to come back to the house to do the test okay now we're gonna start both with fresh batteries and see how long they can both hover with both sets now this is not necessarily a battery test we're just trying to see the difference in the flight lengths between the different sets of propellers ooh and we're back so what are my thoughts on using the DJI spark props on the Mavic air now like I said earlier I don't think you should do this you're not gaining any major benefits it's all the same speed it's all the same sound it's all the same it's worse battery life you're altering the flight characteristics of the drone which not necessarily the safest thing to be doing so I think this is really awesome that they both work I think it's neat that DJI is using the same kind of motor esc combination on the spark and the Mavic air in enough that the props are dual compatible the Mavic air props won't work on the spark they're too big I I tried but it is a fun experiment to try out you know hopefully DJI we'll announce here soon some low noise propellers for the Mavic air that would be really awesome but don't use your spark propellers on the Mavic air that's the long story short of this whole video well if you like this video go ahead and share it on your favorite brand of social media also click that subscribe button down below we normally do reviewing the cheapest on Mondays but this is our last week covering totally the Maverick air so next week on Monday we'll be back to reviewing the cheapest with a 4k action camera well hey I'm the everyday dad and if I can figure out you should not use the Sparks propellers on the Mavic air you can figure it out thanks for
