Beats X Headphones Review: A Great Alternative to Apple AirPods?

That's the only pair of headphones that feature a lightning port for easy charging, these headphones also get 8 hours of battery life on a full charge. It's not as good as something like the Beats Solo 3 with 40 hours of battery life but this should easily allow you to power through your workouts with no issues and for those inconvenient times when you're just completely out of battery life there is a fast fuel feature that gives you a whopping 2 hours of playback for just a 5 minute charge. So, yes, you can just plug it in wait 5 minutes, 5 minutes later you got 2 hours of battery life ready to go.

In addition to the black and white BeatsX colorways, there's also a blue and gray color that are available for order on Apple's website. Those new colors are attractive but the price is also attractive with the Beats X $149.95. These are the cheapest W1 enabled headphones you can buy.

The Beats X aren't truly Wireless there is a wire there unlike the AirPods obviously, but it does have a flex form cable that allows it to bend like this and when you want to utilize the carrying case which is included by the way, the flexform cable comes in handy because it bends allowing it to easily tuck into the rubber carrying case. You can put it in your pocket and it's going to be tangle-free which is a big deal for those of us who have dealt with tangled ear pods in the past.

Here's a handy little feature magnetic earbuds that keep these things secure around your neck when you don't have the earphones in your ear. Pretty cool now, while some people might not like the fact that these aren't truly Wireless meaning they're not like the AirPods which are truly devoid of any wires whatsoever but having a wire can actually be advantageous when it comes to not losing or misplacing your earphones.

One big advantage of the Beats X is that they feature removable ear tips. You get four pairs in total you get these three pairs here and the ones that are pre-installed on the Beats X so you you can just easily replace the ear tips and find a size that works for your particular ears and this makes a big difference especially for those of us who are coming from AirPods that don't exactly fit perfectly. The Airpods fit but they don't fit me well whereas with these I can get a much better custom fit courtesy of the replaceable ear tips.

But, they've taken it a step further by including secure fit removable wing tips now these provide an even better fit an even more secure fit and Apple includes two pairs of wing tips at two different sizes to give you the best fit possible so you just slide them on after you take the ear tip off you put the ear tip back on and you see those wing tips provide a little friction inside the ear and I find that this helps me out immensely when engaging in any sort of vigorous movements like running or shaking my head violently whenever I tend to do that um yeah.

So, like a lot of Beats headphones you get that nice remote talk inline remote control to control volume to take phone calls and even to invoke Siri. This is something that you don't get with the AirPods which is frustrating if you want to do anything with the AirPods you have to invoke Siri when you purchase the Beats X Apple throws in 3 months of Apple Music for free but here's the cool part Apple doesn't force you to use this for Apple Music you can actually dump the funds into your iTunes account so you can basically have a $30 gift card on the house.

So, with this additional perk consider the Beats X are actually very attractive from a price perspective but they're also attractive soundwise. You're going to get better sound at a lower volume you're going to get deeper bass at a lower volume on the Beats X to me the Beats X sound better than the AirPods and especially will you notice this when listening at lower volumes to really hear that low-end frequency on the AirPods you have to crank up the sound considerably whereas with the Beats X you can have the sound around 50% and still enjoy the low-end range of your music.
