The Car's Performance and Issues: A Journey Through Drag Racing and Drifting

As I stood on the grid, waiting for my turn to hit the track, I couldn't help but think about the car's performance. The drag racing community has always been one of my passions, and I've spent countless hours fine-tuning my ride to achieve optimal speed and efficiency. But, as it turns out, there's more to drag racing than just raw power.

One year into our drag racing adventure, we noticed that I wasn't making full power. We attributed this to the boost sitting in everything, which is a common issue in drag racing. As the car's performance decreased, our team decided to investigate further. After consulting with some of my drag racing friends, specifically Auto from Titan and Derek from Connecticut, we realized that spinning the tire pressure was too high and the boost was turned up. To address this, we made the decision to lower the wastegate duty cycle a little bit to reduce power output and drop the tire pressure down to 16 pounds.

I must admit, I was impressed by how well our car handled despite the reduced power. The drivetrain held up remarkably well, and the motor didn't blow up or overheat. It's clear that fine-tuning the boost and tire pressure can make a significant difference in our performance. Our goal is to continue optimizing our setup while minimizing the risk of overheating or damage.

Just as we were making progress, I received an unexpected call from Cletus, asking for my opinion on how to improve their drag racing strategy. They asked if they should adopt a similar approach to ours, using lower tire pressure and reduced boost output. My advice was to try lowering the wastegate duty cycle and dropping the tire pressure down to 14 pounds, with the hope of avoiding overheating issues.

My car's performance has been a focus area for our team, especially in regards to the boost and tire pressure. I've gathered information from other global drag racers, who have all reported issues with track conditions being super wavy after the 8th turn, making it challenging to maintain traction. To mitigate this, we decided to drop the tire pressure down to 14 pounds, hoping that it would improve our car's handling and stability.

A recent issue arose during a practice session, where the temperature gauge was pinning, indicating high engine temperatures. I suspected that there might be an air pocket or leak in the cooling system, which could have caused the problem. To confirm my suspicions, we installed a manual gauge on top of the factory gauge, which revealed that the temperature reading was inaccurate. This led me to believe that there might indeed be a coolant leak somewhere in the system.

The heater issue in our car also came up during the practice session. It seemed like the heater was not functioning properly when it was first installed, and despite bleeding the system, it never fully resolved the problem. I'm not sure if this is related to the coolant leak or something entirely different, but we'll need to investigate further.

Despite the setbacks, our team remains committed to fine-tuning our car's performance and addressing any issues that arise. We're eager to get back on track and put our newfound knowledge to the test.

speed roll cuz we got a runner 10 and 0 here it's happening tonight alright what is show 1 listen in T that's what I want to know I thought more you dude I can't believe you're right they're a bunch of a bunch of gt3 is in a Corvette in front of us it's almost like to go to the track you're going to track like mad not any person in the right light whatever taken you three to a drag strip but you were right you were right and you know what they'll run the 10 and I won't pull enough to get all osw Pat said it's not too too crowded but um I don't know I'm excited Ivan gonna drive 0 the new engine on the drag strip and got rained out last time so sick alright so if you guys want to see what's new 0 I would suggest you go back and watch the last dyno video the only thing that has changed since that last time we have the Z on the dyno I actually did how the Alberto go and install a cool little tidbit that a lot of you guys have been recommending for me so ma performance sells this delay valve it's kind of like a poor man's slipper clutch in the sense that you can actually take this knob and you can adjust it to let it delay how fast that lets the clutch out so hopefully if I do accidentally let the clutch out a little bit too fast this could save my drivetrain so I will have to show you guys in another video how we wired it but Alberto did a pretty cool job and I had to wire it so in first gear it's armed when it switches on but then other than that on the street I can disarm it and then once it's out of first gear and won't do any more so just on the launch it but yeah I'm getting ready to go out I think we're the next class up hopefully well I think I'm just gonna roll off the line first and just try to get down the track and see what the new motor traps at and then the next time I'll try to launch it kind of like the usual plan I'm gonna purposely sleep at the light just cuz it's so hard to hear my own car with everyone else's it's gonna be really hard to find that proper engagement point make everything work how I wanted to holy crap if they make so much power now it's terrifying to drive it just drips all over the place I'm literally no Oh I've never been in a car that holds this hard I literally can't feel my hands they're so numb I think I definitely need skinnies for the front of this thing well that was terrifying and felt like it was pretty decent though even with letting up we still ran an 11-5 at 102 that's wild there's so many things it could be scariest against ever happen to you really I can't read these students in the front okay that I thought I flew to Walter it looked crazy it's gonna start it goes my hands are so numb right now yeah literally can't be my hands that's hair did it look insane do it like so I did a 1/7 60-foot which isn't terrible but it's not it's not bad but it's not great so the mantra was set kind of low which was good it's still not pretty hard but dude when Bruce hit I've never felt that much to using a streetcar really and the thing is like once it went in to boost the whole back end was good yeah the craziest thing is that bradenton it didn't do it at all I think it's making that much more to audience that when it squats and then releases so much more torque it's so quiet - all I know is that running skinnies in the front helps a lot with that sway I just like that was I've been scared drag racing like my skyline right like staying flat-footed like it kind of wobbles that felt like it was going another way I don't know if you guys will be able to tell that oh oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah I let off like half way down and still ran from before eleven seven months oh yeah he's not wrong yeah no one is you dude it looks like you about a sideways completely in seven seconds good eight time I don't know no no it's not like no I just didn't know because I feel like I was like pretty on it to the Apes maybe you know so we're like we could extrapolate nothing to the corner here at hook from where I was dude like in every gear oh my god through crazy spinning I think it's you can hear a little bit of splint that's a one-year act like lowering the pressure down maybe it's also mixing bias training you're not supposed to leave which is weird that it was so planted at Bradenton and didn't do it at all around here I'm gonna call Cletus and ask what do you think they like right now if it's gonna do that same thing in another poll definitely call them my dragon sink all I know is I'm impressed motor didn't blow up and the drivetrain held up the water all right so here's the plan I consulted a few of my drag racing friends specifically Auto from Titan and Derek from up in Connecticut and what it sounds like happened is first year in second year I'm not really making I'm not really making full power because of the you know where boost sits in everything so third year they think that I'm actually spinning the tire pressure is kind of high and the boost is turned up so what I'm gonna do I'm gonna lower the wastegate duty cycle a little bit so the car make it a little bit less power and I'm gonna drop the tire pressure down to pounds I think no matter what the car still going to run tens but there's no reason to run it on full boost right now and there's no reason to have the tires at 18 pounds I know before trying to save the driveline but I think it's so cold out that that's probably why it's slipping does that I feel like that makes sense yeah that's what I wanted to say but I know nothing about drag races drifting it would be like it would spin in first and second if it was going to spin and throw it like it did it's like oh yeah well hooking first the second but not third I was gonna say well it's because this is like oh you're gonna sound like a know-it-all you don't have any quadratics and so doesn't say it yeah but now that they said it what's happening and just fitting in third you're making full oh you know I was thinking so I've been gathering some information from other global drag racers are we focused yeah we're focused and I guess the track is super super wavy after the 8th and everyone's having a hard time attraction so we're gonna go down another 2 pounds so we're gonna move from 18 all the way down to 14 with the lower booths and that longer burnout hopefully it'll not spend this on track super super cold and lots of people have attraction issues so I'm gonna do my best to get a real warm the Sun your Watergate I work I noticed that em cage was pin so I started to pull off it was a good thing we did was leaking coolant and it smells like coolant really bad so there's a good chance there's a leak somewhere if my head gasket isn't already blown from something there's a good chance that I would have blown it if I just did that pass right there with the temp gauge already pin weird thing is we have a manual gauge on top of the factory gauge and it hasn't been working so usually I would just look at that to confirm or deny the fact again just pin it doesn't feed like it's as hot as it says it is so I'm thinking there's an air pocket similar maybe a leak or something so the temp sensors reading a scene but either way I maybe happen for reason maybe I want to go into the wall if I did that pass but we're gonna call it because I don't know where the coolant leak is and sucks I wanted to I want to make another pass that I probably could but it's not worth it nope theory I don't know this makes sense it was fine I turned the heat on in the car announcer and have an issue what if one of the heater lines or something has a leak or something yeah maybe of when it was bled the heater was never on and somehow there's an air pocket or something maybe I don't know hopefully that would be the simplest easiest fix but no no no we'll see so in one sense it kind of sucks cuz I might have been able to avoid that if I wasn't just sitting on grid running for so long but on the other sense it might have been a good thing because I might have pointed to an issue that could have gone wrong if I ran down the track again I don't know regardless kind of a bummer but also like a good test in tonight to kind of figure the car out I know I can shift it pretty well I know it's definitely got the power to run a low ten for sure I just got to get down the track so unfortunately tonight we're gonna add a little short but I hope you guys still enjoy the video tomorrow we were doing super things and nothing is about to get crazy when you say Thanks meoh boy did I miss the smell of ignite the whole place
