A Glimpse into the Future of Gaming: The Zotac Magnus Mini Gaming PC at CES 2018
As I walked out of the Zotac suite at CES 2018, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and awe at what I had just witnessed. The company's new mini box, dubbed the Magnus, is an absolute powerhouse of a gaming PC that has left me eager to learn more about it.
The Magnus boasts an 8th gen Intel processor with six cores and a clock speed of 4.6 gigahertz. This may not seem like a lot at first glance, but trust me when I say that this CPU is the real deal. It's a full-fledged desktop CPU, paired with a full-fledged desktop GPU - in this case, the GTX 1080. What this means is that you're getting an extremely powerful system that's capable of handling even the most demanding games and applications.
One of the standout features of the Magnus is its portability. Despite being packed with power, it's incredibly small. I've seen tech magazines and websites claim that this thing is the "most powerful mini gaming PC in the world," but I'm reserving judgment until I can fact-check it further. Nevertheless, it's certainly an impressive feat of engineering.
The Magnus also features two DIMM slots, allowing you to upgrade your RAM to 32 gigs of DDR4 if you want to go all out. You don't have to do that, though - you can buy the unit bare-bones and upgrade as needed, which is a very serviceable approach. Additionally, there's a single M2 slot with a 2.5 inch drive bay, giving you some flexibility when it comes to storage.
The front panel of the Magnus is where things start to get really interesting. It boasts a large illuminated power button, an SD card reader, USB 3.1 type A and C ports, and your audio jacks on the back. You also get a couple of Wi-Fi antennas, DC power, four USB 3.2 ports, Ethernet ports, a Kensington lock, and two expansion slots - although be aware that you may still be limited by the thermal and power limitations of the rest of the system.
As I walked away from the Zotac suite, I couldn't help but feel excited about what this mini PC could do. With its powerful CPU and GPU combination, it's perfect for gaming and even video editing - plus, its portability makes it an excellent choice for those who want a high-performance system without sacrificing mobility.
If you're curious to learn more about the Magnus or want to get your hands on one, I'll be happy to share any updates on pricing and availability in the coming months. For now, I'd love to hear from you - what do you think about this incredible mini PC? Do you have any questions or thoughts to share? Be sure to let me know in the comments below!
