The Fast IPSas: A Review of Gaming Monitors with Advanced Features

In recent years, gaming monitors have become increasingly popular among gamers and graphics enthusiasts alike. These monitors offer a range of advanced features that enhance the overall gaming experience, including fast pixel response times, high refresh rates, and high dynamic contrast ratios. In this article, we will be reviewing three gaming monitors from different manufacturers, each with its unique set of features and specifications.

The first monitor to review is an ultra-wide gaming monitor with a 3440x1440 resolution and a 1 millisecond pixel response time. This monitor has a one millisecond pixel response time, which is faster than the rest of the monitors on the market, making it ideal for fast-paced games that require quick reflexes. The monitor also features a light at the top that gets diffused downward, resulting in a higher contrast ratio and deeper blacks. However, this feature does not contribute to its HDR rating, as the monitor is only VESA DisplayHDR 400 Certified.

The second monitor to review is another gaming monitor with an IPS panel, which offers excellent color accuracy and a wide viewing angle. This monitor has a two millisecond pixel response time, which may be slower than the ultra-wide monitor but still suitable for most games. The monitor also features a high refresh rate of 240 Hz, making it ideal for fast-paced games that require smooth motion. However, this monitor does not have HDR capabilities, as its VESA DisplayHDR rating is only 400.

The third and final monitor to review is a gaming monitor with a VA panel, which offers excellent contrast ratio and deep blacks. This monitor has a two millisecond pixel response time and a high refresh rate of 240 Hz, making it suitable for fast-paced games that require smooth motion. The monitor also features a VESA DisplayHDR rating of 400, although this does not contribute to its HDR capabilities.

In terms of pricing, these monitors are relatively affordable, with prices ranging from $400 to $500. However, the ultra-wide monitor is priced at $409, which may be a bit higher than expected. The other two monitors are priced at $400 and $720, respectively.

Gaming Monitors: A Comparison of Features and Specifications

When it comes to gaming monitors, there are several features and specifications that gamers look for when selecting a new monitor. These include pixel response time, refresh rate, dynamic contrast ratio, HDR capabilities, and speaker system. In this article, we have reviewed three gaming monitors that offer advanced features and specifications.

Gaming Monitors with Higher Contrast Ratio

One of the key features of these gaming monitors is their high contrast ratio, which offers deeper blacks and more vivid colors. The ultra-wide monitor has a higher contrast ratio than the other two monitors, thanks to its light at the top that gets diffused downward. However, this feature does not contribute to its HDR rating.

The VA panel in the third monitor offers excellent contrast ratio and deep blacks, making it an ideal choice for gamers who want a high-quality gaming experience. The dynamic contrast ratio of this monitor is higher than the other two monitors, offering more vivid colors and deeper blacks.

Gaming Monitors with Higher Refresh Rate

Another key feature of these gaming monitors is their refresh rate, which offers smooth motion and fast response times. The ultra-wide monitor has a high refresh rate of 240 Hz, making it ideal for fast-paced games that require quick reflexes. However, the other two monitors do not have such high refresh rates.

The third monitor has a refresh rate of 240 Hz as well, making it suitable for fast-paced games that require smooth motion. The displayport version of this monitor also supports higher refresh rates, making it an ideal choice for gamers who want the best possible gaming experience.

Gaming Monitors: Conclusion

In conclusion, these three gaming monitors offer advanced features and specifications that enhance the overall gaming experience. While they have different strengths and weaknesses, each monitor has its unique set of features that make it suitable for specific types of games. The ultra-wide monitor is ideal for fast-paced games that require quick reflexes, while the VA panel in the third monitor offers excellent contrast ratio and deep blacks. Ultimately, the best gaming monitor for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences.

Monitoring Options: HDMI 2.0 vs. Displayport 1.4

When it comes to monitoring options, there are two main ports that gamers look for when selecting a new monitor: HDMI 2.0 and Displayport 1.4. Both of these ports offer high-bandwidth connectivity and fast data transfer rates.

HDMI 2.0 is the latest version of the HDMI standard, offering bandwidths up to 18 Gbps. This makes it ideal for 4K resolutions at high frame rates, as well as for connecting multiple devices such as a graphics card, CPU, and GPU.

Displayport 1.4 is also a high-bandwidth port, offering bandwidths up to 32.4 Gbps. This makes it ideal for high-resolution gaming monitors with fast refresh rates, as well as for connecting multiple devices such as a graphics card, CPU, and GPU.

Gaming Monitors with Speaker Systems

Another feature that gamers look for when selecting a new monitor is a speaker system. A good speaker system can enhance the overall gaming experience by providing clear and accurate sound.

The third monitor reviewed in this article has a built-in speaker system that offers clear and accurate sound. However, it's worth noting that the speaker system may not be suitable for all types of games, as some games require more immersive audio experiences.

Gaming Monitors: Final Verdict

In conclusion, these three gaming monitors offer advanced features and specifications that enhance the overall gaming experience. While they have different strengths and weaknesses, each monitor has its unique set of features that make it suitable for specific types of games. The ultra-wide monitor is ideal for fast-paced games that require quick reflexes, while the VA panel in the third monitor offers excellent contrast ratio and deep blacks.

Ultimately, the best gaming monitor for you will depend on your individual needs and preferences. It's worth noting that gaming monitors can be quite expensive, so it's essential to choose a monitor that meets your specific requirements and budget.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: en- So you like unboxings? You like monitors?Well, how about I unbox, four monitors.Hold on, I gotta catch up to the dialogue. They told me it was gonna be three.- Four monitors!- All the Dell monitorsthat were launching thismonth, here they are.A 24-inch, a 27-inch, a 32- inch, and a bigger one, 34 wide. We're gonna get these open. We're gonna compare them. And you're gonna figure outwhich one you wanna buy.Come along.Do you like max? This one stepping right out of the box.Okay.Some instructions, plastic bag that doesn't need to exist, but now it's on thisearth for 5,000 years.Displayport cable,USB cable, power cable.HDMI cable.Base.(bass drum beat)Ah, hmm.I swear there's a robotthat looks like that.Ooh, oh, this is cool.Do I have to,yeah, I do.I've gotta screw some stuff.I'm the only tool here required for this.Look at these fins.Hold on, I'll show you.Cool, I like the stylings. This is the baby one. This is a gaming monitor. This is a 240 Hertz, fast IPS gaming monitor. But it could totally beat your desk at an office. But it's not boring either.Like this is like, striding the line betweenexecutive and gamer. And I think that's perfect fora category or product whereincreasingly, there's notreally a much differencebetween gamer and workstation stuff. All right, so let's see the other one's.24 and a half inches is for,near-sighted people though.I want a 27.I'm pretty sure that's different.Yeah, that's different already. There's no fins on the back of itand this nub is even different. It's actually smaller, somehow. What is going on?Spoiler alert of what the back looks like.Clicks in, no tools required.Oh no, I should've done this first.Any new monitor these daysthat requires any more workthan I what I just did,is doing it wrong'cause that is so easyand still so secure.27-inch version.I like this stand more.It actually has a different finish too. This one's more.I guess this is also plastic, but it's just higherquality feeling than this. All right, and then this one.Okay.The first one was IPS.The next one is VA.This third one, also VA.It's almost identical except it's bigger. The first one, full HD.The next two, 1440p.But there actually aresome differences betweeneven number two and number three here.Oh, big boy.Main differences between these two, which are almost identical, other than the size, is the curve.Number one, no curve at all.But on the VA onesthat are larger, they are curved. So the 27-inch has the 1500R curve, which means if you made awhole circle out of them, the radius of that circlewould be 1.5 meters. This one has an 1800R curve. So it is less curvy, but itactually kinda looks more curvyfrom the top, just byvirtue of it being bigger.IMO.Now let's get the ultrawide out of the box.(grunting)(indistinct) David,I think we're gonna do this on the floor.I wonder if they're goingto have a different, oh wow.Surprise, it's actually the same.I should just mix and match these stands. There will be none the wiser. All these cables.(groaning)You need a tall personfor the family photo. That is the fact, this isthe 34-inch WQHD, chungus.Like the other VA, this onealso has an 1800R curve.Like this.Oh my muscles.(groaning)- Shoulder press, please.- Nope, I'm done.Okay, lots of choices. They're all sexy.I'm sure they're all great. But which one's for you?Let's start with refresh rate.240 Hertz,165 Hertz,165 Hertz,144 Hertz. So they're all high refresh rate.144 Hertz is a luxury for a lot of people.165 is a nice bonus. And if you're reallycompetitive, there's 240.So this one's kind of on its own.I would say these threeare probably more compcomparable to each other.Whereas this one is theonly one that's a fast IPS.Not a TN.Man, IPSs are just taking over the world.I don't even know if they'regonna make TN panels soon. This is the motion gamery one. It's also the only one thathas Nvidia G-Sync compatible. All of them are Free-Sync Premium. And you know, they're gonnahave adaptive sync through HDMI.Now it does not have theG-Sync hardware module in it.That is the next tier up.All right, gamers, how about the GREY toGREY pixel response time?Obviously, there's a lot of marketinghoopla that goes into this number. But relatively speaking,Dell advertises the fast IPSas having a one millisecondpixel response time, where the rest of theseare advertised as havingtwo millisecond GREY toGREY pixel response time.No real rhyme or reason to the brightness. This one's 400 nits. The VAs are 350 nits. But keep in mind, they'll still have higher contrast'cause VAs have deeper blacks. And then this one, which is also VA,is back up to 400 nits. These aren't gonna be great HDR monitors. They don't have direct backlights. They're described as having, I think,a light at the top thatgets diffused downward. They are Vesa DisplayHDR 400 Certified, which is better than nothing, but it's actually notmuch better than nothing. It's basically means, don't use this for HDR.None of these have speakers. So, if for some reasonyou don't have a headsetor external speakers, thisisn't gonna work for you.But they're not TVs, they're monitors. You shouldn't expectthem to have speakers. They're all pretty similarwith their height adjustmentand their tilt. This ultra wide gets some amount of,you know, you get yourfour degrees of rotation,I guess they just call it slant adjust, just in case, you know, there's a piece of toastunder one of your table legs. These ones don't really have that. There's no swivel here. You can just turn the whole stand. But our friend over here, that, which is interestingly, the most gaming one, with a different stand, does have swivel.Actually, that's a bit of swivel. That is decent. And also rotates 90 degrees, both ways.Very nice. For I/O, these three models are the same. And the ultra wide is a little different.Let's start with the smaller ones. Two HDMI 2.0 ports, one Displayport 1.2.Remember, the newest one is 1.4.And an audio headphone port. And of course there'sthe upstream USB port. There's power, there's hubfor the other two USBs.And there's two more over here.Beside your headphone jack.Pretty good, is this a light?Ooh.Then on the ultra wide.- Nice.- Oh my God.We again have to HDMI 2.0ports, one Displayport port. But this time it's 1.4,which they needed to push all those pixelsfor the resolution. Then you got fourdownstream USB 3.0 ports, one of which it supports charging, and your upstream portand audio headphone port.I like this little, thiscurve that comes out. These are nice looking.Feel?I dunno. They don't feel super premium. They're plastic, is what it is.How about the price though? You know, there's no badproducts, just bad pricing.$400,$409,$500,$720.Kind of interesting thatthese are only $10 apart. One being smaller, but faster. The other being larger, and darker.I don't know, I'm kindathinking that this is the one. We're gonna see whatit's like to play gameson these two monitors, right after this message fromour sponsor, Morning Brew. It's not coffee, it'sa free daily like.'Cause there's nothing worsethan accidentally turning your monitor offwhen you're tryna go throughyour on-screen display.See, it's detecting 239,240 frames per second.I can't make out that eachone of these dots on the shiftis actually like three little dots, but I can see his shifter stick.I can see the dots in his eyes. There is some blur on thetrailing edge of the ship. But if I looked downcompared to these ones, yeah, these ones are way worse.240 Hertz is nice to have people. It's a very smooth.(David laughs)I like to use the pursuit camera oneto look at inverse ghosting ifthere's too much overdrive onbecause the backgroundis a different color.I don't see a lot of it at all, really no.Sometimes on the leading edge you'll havelike a white kinda halo.Well, no, that looks pretty good.Let's play \"Counter-Strike.\"Wow, this is very crisp.Very crisp. Now, I don't speak this language, but I pretty sure that ifI did, I could read this. Now, one thing that's gonna differbetween the IPS and the VA panels,is the GREY to GREYresponse time in shadows.Sometimes you can see on edgeslike that inverse ghosting. If you go like this really quickly, it'll,there'll be like a littlewhite shadow that comes off it.That looks pretty good. It's not immediately awful. All right, this is more my speedin terms of the aspect ratio.'Cause I use a 32 by nine in my desk.So I really, really, really recommend an ultra wide for, whoa (laughs)for productivity.Honestly, this feels like60 now that I've had 240.But, it's not. It's 144, which is supposedto be plenty fast for us.I do feel like this oneis a little more vibrant. This is the only one ofthe lineup that they, they advertise the gamut coveragein terms of the DCIP3 color space, whereas the other ones, they just,\"Oh, 99% coverage of sRGB.\"So, it does have a bigger color gamut. It looks a little more like drab, but probably more accurate. But I'm not assessing their color quality'cause I don't have my measurement toolsand this was just an unboxing.Yeah, it's not as clear asthe 240, that's for sure. This is of course, amore immersive experiencewith the larger screen and the curve, provided you have a gamethat really supports it.Ideally your HUD would be closer inlike they have it in \"Destiny.\"As someone who's not competitive,I actually probably would take thisOh, I want this gun.Yes, best gun in the game.Best gun in the game.- hold down.- Best gun in the--- Yeah.- Well, that's how you use it.- Yeah.- Dave's getting mad watching me.Look how much money I have now. With all that I couldbuy one of each of these. And maybe I should, becauseI can't decide what I want.So that's Dell's 2021 lineupthat we have for you today.Four different monitors, four different price points, four different use cases. If you like these monitor videos, check out some of our other videoswhere we focused on justone monitor in one video.Kind of less spread out.Maybe you like those.
