More Amazing AirPods Tips (The First One Is A GAME CHANGER)

Tips and Tricks for Using AirPods

One of the best things about AirPods is how compact they are. They will fit in your charging case, which is very cool. One of the best things about this is just how cheap it is, right for like 10 bucks or less or maybe a little bit more, I'll have to check the price you can get a better fit and I know so many people are gonna want to do this, so I'm gonna make it really easy. I'm gonna leave the link down in the description for now.

This last tip today is an old one and I have to say I got this from John Gruber from Daring Fireball a long time ago. I think I probably saw it on Twitter. John pointed out the best way to get AirPods out of their case, and I have to say there is no better way. Right before I knew this, I would sit there trying to pull the AirPods out of the case but that's not how you do it. What you actually do is put your finger in the center and sort of pull out, and they'll just pop right out. It's like magic. Way better than trying to pull them and can't because it's all slippery or whatever. It's kind of hard to describe what I actually need to do is find that old tweet I'm gonna see if I can find it. If I can it's gonna go here. If I can't you're just gonna see me doing something weird with my fingers.

Q&A Session

I asked you guys for some questions about AirPods because I said I was gonna be making another earbuds video so I'm gonna run through those real quick. See if there was anything that I actually have something to say about any value to add. Okay, somebody says how about a real-world range test? I'll do that for you right now. First one comes from Andy Mineo.

AirPods Range Test

I'm gonna wave my hands wildly when I run out of range alright here we go all right so that was about 28-29 feet of like good solid big steps away that's when I lost connection. Alright, Ritchie who is a daily tech member I'm seeing I didn't even know we were doing memberships anymore maybe I need to get back into it thank you for joining. Ritchie says maybe you should mention that they sell Qi wireless charging case covers you can add to the gen Wan AirPods in case anybody isn't aware. In case you're not aware, Ritchie wants you to know that you can buy a wireless case that you can just slip on your old AirPods to give them wireless charging. It doesn't look as clean as as nice as the new AirPods but it does work alright.

Comparison of True Wireless Earphones with Other Brands

Somebody says they would love to see comparison of how true wireless earphones of other brands that I've tested work with more than one Apple product at the same time especially the MacBook Air. Do the AirPods really have a better and more convenient connection? Good question over the years, I have tested several things, and you know what nothing in my opinion is actually as convenient as the AirPods when it comes to switching between Apple devices. It's ridiculous. You pair it once to like your iPhone and it's already there on your Mac on your iPad on the Apple TV. So, there's if it's convenience that you're wondering about, there's nothing else that's as convenient in the Mac ecosystem. I mean, PowerBeats but Christian says is there a way to change the EQ settings so that it can make them more bass heavy or bring out the highs aside from doing it natively in the music settings just on the AirPods themselves and have them remember it? I don't think so really. There's not a way that I know of if you guys, the technicians know of any way to do this or an alternative way to mess with the EQ then drop a comment down below.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthis video is sponsored by Moshe haze Chris and today we're gonna be talking about air pods some more tips and tricks why because the last video was very popular yes getting out of the studio it's summer it's nice out so let me know what you guys think about this change of pace maybe it's too loud maybe it's nice air pods are super popular I keep saying article after article after article talking about how many have been sold so even though we already did one video talking about some tips and tricks we didn't cover everything and I figure we might as well make sure you guys know how to get every last bit of value out of your favorite wireless earbuds Apple TV and air pods these are two of my favorite Apple devices so we're gonna start with a tip that some of you might have heard of but this was brand new to me very recently and actually shout out to canoopsy for putting me on to this on Twitter and here's when I use this when I can't sleep I head downstairs and I rent a movie this is my time to watch a movie that I know my wife is never gonna watch so this is usually when I fit in all the Marvel movies for instance but I don't want to wake up everybody in the whole house right so I connect up either my air pods or some sort of headphones air pods are the most convenient but what I was doing was going into the settings and it took a long time I had to go into the menu and the audio on Bluetooth connections and then find air pods and then turn it on but I can't believe I didn't know about this if you just take the remote and hold down the play/pause button hold it down you're gonna see a menu of your audio connections you can select air pods right there it takes like two seconds it's way faster way faster then going through the menu how much more convenient is this gonna be for you now now a couple videos back I don't remember which one exactly maybe a Mac one maybe an air pause video but I told you about an app called tooth fairy that you can install on your Mac and what it does is it puts a little icon up in your Mac's menu bar and you tap on you click it once and it connects your air pods you don't have to go through any other menus and it's really fast it's super convenient but it costs three dollars so I know there's some people out there who just don't want to spend that and they're looking for something free well the good news is Apple has a free feature that basically does the same thing so what it is is it's just using the volume icon up in your Mac's menu bar so if you don't have that enabled you got to enable that first here's how to do it you want to go to System Preferences then click on sound and then there's a little checkbox that says show volume in menu bar so now all you have to do is go up and click on the volume icon that's living up there now and you get a drop-down menu and then from there you can select air pods it's super simple it does take you two clicks instead of one like what you get on tooth fairy but still if you don't want to pay it's totally worth it now one thing with air pods is you want to watch your battery levels right you don't want to run out when you still want to use them and there's several different ways you can check on your battery status you can flip open the case and see the animation that appears on one of your devices or you can check out that LED on the front of your air pods if you have the second version or you can use the widgets right we know about all these things but I think the easiest way yes there's an easier way is to just ask Siri just ask Siri how's the battery life on my air pods and she'll tell you if you'll give you a percentage this obviously works best when you don't care if anybody's around to hear what you're saying because sometimes you don't want to be having a conversation with Syria if you're on the train on the subway or you like it in a meeting or something at that point you might want to check your widget or the LED or something but you're just taking a walk or something yeah that's Siri in fact you can ask Siri all kinds of thing hey Siri play some Andy Mineo and hopefully that did actually activate your device and now your ears are delighted with some Andy Mineo now if you have air pods there's no reason that you have to keep them glued to your iPhone or your iPad or your Mac I feel like this is an obvious thing but I'm gonna point out anyways you can just use your ear pods very easily I'm going to show you how with nothing but your Apple watch so whatever you want to do that has to do with audio and your Apple watch whether it's make a phone call or listen to music or an audio book or a podcast whatever whatever you do pop your air pods in and then swipe up get that control center going and do the airplay but once you click on that or tap I guess tap is the appropriate way to say that once you tap on it then you can select the output just select your air pods I like doing that better honestly then doing it through each individual app like I like to do this first connect my ear pods and then play something rather than start playing something and then mess with what should I play it on alright did you know that you can rename what your air pods are called you can and this is really handy really useful if you have like multiple sets of air pods maybe you bought the first batch of air pods and now you got your second the air paws v2 but you don't want to get them all messed up right this has happened to me before like one time after I got my new ones I was sitting there like why isn't this connecting well is because I was tapping on the old air paws and I didn't think about it and didn't see a little - there so yeah you can rename these you can call them something like laser ears or I don't know tell me what your ideas are down below but yeah you can rename these and it's really easy in order to get these renamed you got to look in a place where you maybe wouldn't have thought to look you got to go into your Bluetooth settings on your iOS device and tap on that little eye icon like it's an eye in a circle tap on that and that's where you're gonna see next to your ear buds that's where you're gonna see some different options including the ability to rename your air pods you probably know you can tap or double tap on your air pods to do different functions play Skip but you can actually customize those to whatever you want them to do so in order to make this happen you go to the same place that you did when you wanted to change what your ear pods were named you go to Bluetooth settings and click on that little eye with the circle once you're there you can see the different tap actions and you can customize them and this is one of the great things that I do love about air pots because you can't customize everything but you can't customize what these tabs do so you know it would be pretty cool down in the comments you guys should let me know how you guys have your air pods set up and let me know if you're still rocking the ones or if you purchase the new tools or if you want a different direction and you grab the new bee something else is really cool that you can do that I didn't realize until very recently is that you can have your ear pods announce who's calling the reason this is cool is because instead of just getting a generic phone call alert and you're like who is this usually a spam call probably a spam call you can actually know who it is oh that's the haircut place and I got a reschedule or that's the dentist and it's not gonna happen on this Friday knowing is so much better than not knowing right now I've got to set up so that it's just when I'm wearing my air pods to get this feature turned on just head into settings phone and announce calls and then make your selections from there now this one is maybe more for you students out there this is not something that I'm gonna be doing anytime soon just to let you know it seems a little gross but if you want to share your air pods with somebody else and make sure that you're listening to the same thing whether you want to check out a movie or some music and you don't want things get all messed up because of stereo or whatever you want to hear the same thing this is how you do it head over to Settings General accessibility hearing and then turn on mono audio once that's turned on just hand your air pot over to your friend but you might want to keep like a disinfectant or something around because seriously that's kind of gross so here's something I'm really excited about ear pods - are a little bit quicker with certain things than the original air pods were one of those things is switching calls so if somebody calls you and you see that a new answer it let's say on your iPhone but you want to listen to it and take the call with your air pods well you can just stick your err positive and it should auto switch but if you're using original air pods that's gonna happen a little bit slower and sometimes for me I used to like miss some things and I just knew if I put the air pods in to switch that call I'm gonna have to ask somebody like Oh what did you say but with this either you're not gonna miss anything which is great or you're gonna miss less and you can still kind of figure out what's happening what's going on I use this all the time I love it it's one of my favorite things about the new air pods so yeah just a heads up a little bit quicker something could definitely try now I think in the previous air pods tips video I shared with you guys some tips that you could buy they're really cheap that would help you get a better fit if earpods didn't really fit very well in your ears and a lot of people like that or if you're just looking for like better noise isolation the thing that was like a deal killer for a lot of people I saw in the comments and the feedback was that they didn't fit in the case and that is really not cool like you're gonna put them on and off every time they're gonna use them honestly I don't know who ended up using those but a company did recently just come out with some tips that will fit in your charging case and that's very cool one of the best things about this is just how cheap it is right for like 10 bucks or less or maybe a little bit more gonna have to check the price you can get a better fit and I know so many people are gonna want to do this so I'm gonna make it really easy I'm gonna leave the link down in the description for now this last tip
