Planning a Surprise Concept Car for the London Motor Show
We're planning a surprise concept car for the London Motor Show and it's got some incredible features that are sure to get attention. First off, this car has 200 horsepower under the hood, which is turbocharged for added power. Weighing in at less than a ton, this car is not only fast but also incredibly light. And with a 0-60 time of under 6 seconds, it's definitely a driver's car that lives up to its promise.
But what really sets this car apart from other IO models on the market is its unique design. Instead of a traditional engine, this car has a fuel tank - yes, you read that right! It's about 30 liters big and hand-fabricated, giving it a very nice look. And if you're wondering where the engine is, we took a trip to the Toyota stand in the United States to check out the inspiration behind this concept car. We found a Toyota MR2 unit straight off carbon fiber, which is expensive but has been modified to produce 200 horsepower - that's quite an increase from its usual 140 horsepower.
The engine is installed in a clever way, and we got to see firsthand how it all works together. The turbocharger is placed on the car, giving it an extra boost of power. And with a MR2 gearbox and suspension, this car is definitely built for performance. But that's not all - we also found some other interesting modifications, like new steering wheels, seats, and pedals. The car even has big brakes all around, which gives it plenty of stopping power.
One thing to note is that this car doesn't have any advanced safety features like ABS, stability control, or traction control. Instead, it's got a full roll cage for added protection and a limited slip differential at the back, which should make it a real joy to drive. And with no servo on the brakes, they're nice and heavy, giving the car plenty of grip.
We took this car out for a spin and were blown away by its performance. The steering is really heavy at low speeds but gets better and better as you pick up speed. It's unassisted steering, which means there's no electronic assistance - just pure driver feedback. And with 200 horsepower under the hood, it's quick enough without being scary. There is a bit of understeer when you first start to accelerate, but once you get past that point, the car becomes very neutral and easy to handle.
One thing we did notice was that there can be a point where the front wheels stick on the road, but this is easily fixed by taking your foot off the gas. And with brakes that lock up quickly, it's definitely not something you want to do for too long! But overall, this car is a real riot to drive and we can't wait to show it off at the British Motor Show.
The 0-60 time of this car is an impressive 5.9 seconds, which puts it right up there with some of the fastest cars on the market. And when you consider that it's about as fast around our dry handling circuit as a Lotus El, but slightly faster than a Jaguar XKR - and only about 10 times more difficult to drive than a Porsche 911 GT2 - this car is truly something special.
If you want to see this incredible concept car in person, don't miss out on the opportunity to check it out at the British Motor Show. It'll be on display from July 23rd, so mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable experience!

than 6 seconds sounds like a proper driver's car one thing it's an IO don't let that put you off right normal IO front engined come have a look at this no engine instead fuel tank it's about 30 L big hand fabricated very nice so where is the engine come with me this is from a Toyota champ car in the United States straight off carbon fiber which means it's expensive and the engine is in here 2 mrr2 unit usually makes 140 horsepower but here it's turbocharged for 200 they haven't gone for the high reving uh 190,000 RPM thing they've just gone for the standard one put a turo charger on it MR2 gearbox and MR2 suspension as well right inside couple of changes as well right there's a new steering wheel Sparco suede extremely lovely new seats bit bigger better still four point harnesses only on the driver's side strangely uh and new pedals down here that's cuz it's got big brakes all around these have got no ABS um and there's no stability and there's no traction control there's a full roll cage and I'm told there's a limited slip differential at the back which means it should be an absolute riot don't about you I'm ready to go for a drive okay we're in the io in the drive gearbox is great steering is really heavy at low speeds but as it gets faster the steering gets better and better it's just it's unassisted the steering wheel is brilliant is quite slow at about sort of three turns lock to lock but it's just it's just so responsive there's loads of feel of what it's doing got 200 horsepower and it weighs just under a ton so it's quick enough without being really scary a little bit of under steer which you could just push through the chassis it's nice and neutral really quite nicely balanced I don't know who set it up but they've got it pretty much right first time no Servo on the brakes either so they're really heavy nice and Progressive and it's a real riot I can tell you it's really good fun really really good fun okay I don't know if you can hear me cuz I barely can there's a wet laugh in the eye go crazy bit of under steer it will neutralize on the brakes over the very I going to let go of the power has to be a bit of a fine to get the front stuck sometimes once it does it's fine and then then it's quite adjustable on the throttle but there is a point where it where it won't come back it's just a bit further than that and it breaks very well until the point where the brakes lock and then it's just not interested at all unsurprisingly so what have we learned naus 60 this will do 5.9 seconds which is pretty fast around this dry handling circuit it's about as fast as a Lotus El around our wet handling circuit it's a little bit faster than a Jaguar XKR although it is about 10 times as difficult to drive probably as e to spin as a 911
