suggests the motorola g9 is the ninth iteration in a motorola's popular g series of phones and uh this time around they've got some interesting specifications to say the least uh let's quickly unbox the phone and see what all is inside the box and then we'll take a look at the device itself so just looking at the packaging it's very reminiscent of motorola phones and especially g series of phones so it's fairly simplistic packaging you've got all your specs and details on the back but let's quickly cut through and the first thing inside the box is the phone itself i'll place it to the side we get some documentation as well as a sim ejector tool inside the box also inside the box is a usb to usb type-c cable and a 20 watt charger that is now included so versus the turbo power charger which is an 18 watt charger this time around you get a 20 watt charger so a slight improvement over there now it's time to take a look at the device itself the back already has a case pre applied to the phone so that means that you do get a case inside the box and that's a good thing because you may easily end up scratching or smudging up the back panel i'll remove the plastic cover from the front also a screen protector is pre-applied on the phone as well now let's talk about the device itself on the front you can see it's primarily all display then you also have a teardrop front facing camera and this is an 8 megapixel camera with an f 2.2 aperture this will also do full hd video and 30 frames per second now just under that is a 6.5 inch display motorola is calling it the max vision hd plus display the resolution on this however is 1600 by 720p and i feel that this is something that motorola could have completely avoided and chosen a 1080p display it's just something that i feel is in 2020 not acceptable a 720 display is not acceptable upwards of 10 000 rupees with respect to price so it should have been a full hd plus with the 1080 resolution at least but this display gets a 269 pixels per inch it is an ips lcd display and it has 87 screen to body ratio and if you look at the bottom of the device you will see the usbc charging port as well as the microphone and the single speaker on the right of the phone you will find the power button the volume buttons and a google assistant button so you can directly call on to your google assistant from here and on the top of the device you will see a 3.5 mm headphone jack a secondary noise cancellation microphone as well on the left of the phone is the sim tray and on the back is where most of the action is so you do get a 48 megapixel camera now this one is a f 1.7 camera it has a 1.6 micron pixel size and a quad pixel technology so it's stacking the pixels from a 12 megapixel to convert it into a 48 megapixel and uh you also get a macro lens which is a 2 megapixel sensor with an f 2.4 aperture and then you get a depth sensor which is a 2 megapixel sensor with an f 2.4 aperture both of these i feel are not very useful the depth sensor of course will allow you to get better portraits and also measure out depth to get you better depth of field in your photographs but the macro camera at 2 megapixel is not extremely useful but motorola says that a lot of people use it on their phones so i'm assuming that's fine there's also an led light that is placed in this quad camera setup sort of format so it fits shown off with the moto edge is now available on the moto g9 as well so if you want to customize the user interface change the icons or the wallpapers etc those you can do from the moto app as well and then you can also set up your gesture so if you want to do double shot to turn on the flashlight or twist to turn on the camera you can set that up from the moto app as well now speaking of the camera the camera ui is again very motorola so you have lots of options including the spot color you also have the cinemagraph and then you have your standard photo modes and video ones there is no pro mode so that is something that is missing from this camera the macro shots of course very pixelated because of it being a 2 megapixel camera so i would avoid using the macro sensor as much as i can and uh the 48 megapixel sensor seems good portrait shots seem good video recording is capped at 1080p at 60 frames per second and if you want uh active image stabilization for uh video you need to keep it at 30 frames per second so full hd 60 doesn't give you stabilization as well so that i feel also is a little bit of a letdown for uh video recording capabilities the sim tray is a hybrid sim tray so you can pop in either one sim card or a micro sd card the micro sd card can be up to 512 gigabyte the phone does have nfc so you can use it for payments if that's something that you do and it does have bluetooth 5.0 so if you have a good pair of wireless earphones you can enjoy that lag free experience but the fact that it also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack means that you can also connect wired headphones overall it's a mixed bag because i don't really like the 720p display in 2020 and i also don't like the use of 2 megapixel cameras for anything even if it's for depth so i feel that on those aspects it surely misses but typically g series prices have been on the high side and motorola has done a lot to bring the price down this time around at this price bracket they will
