Mac Studio M1 Ultra And Studio Display Unboxing

The M1 Mac Mini and Its Design

One of the notable features of the M1 Mac Mini is its design, which has remained largely unchanged since its release. As you can see from the image, this device has ports on the front, making it a unique feature among its peers. The size, width, and length are similar, but the thickness is noticeably larger than other devices, giving it a chunky appearance that's almost as if two Mac Minis were stacked together.

The weight of this device is also notable due to the presence of the copper heatsink, which contributes to its overall bulkiness. However, those who opt for the M1 Max variant with an aluminum heat sink can expect a slightly lighter device. This design choice makes the Mac Mini an attractive option for users looking to create a compact workstation.

New Peripherals and Accessories

The article also highlights some new peripherals that come bundled with this device. The keyboard, for example, features Touch ID, a feature that's exclusive to Apple devices. The trackpad is also rounded off, providing a sleeker appearance compared to older models. Another notable accessory is the Space Gray version of the keyboard, which has a similar base color as the original but with some subtle differences.

Another observation made by the author is that only Apple can design and manufacture devices in this way, ensuring seamless integration between all Apple products. This is particularly evident in the Mac Studio's tilt-adjustable and height-adjustable stand, which allows users to customize their workspace without worrying about compatibility issues. The device also features a satisfying "slam" when moved into place, thanks to its frictionless design.

The Importance of Front Connectors

A crucial aspect of this device is its front connectors, which provide easy access for charging and connecting peripherals. This feature was particularly missed by the author in other devices, making it a welcome addition to the Mac Mini's design. With just one cable connection, users can effortlessly charge their devices or connect them to the Mac Studio.

The M1 Ultra and Its Capabilities

Moving on to the top-of-the-line M1 Ultra model, this device boasts an impressive 64-core GPU, 20-core CPU, and 32-core Neural Engine. This powerhouse of a processor is paired with 128 GB of RAM and comes in at a staggering price tag of $6,699.99. The display on this device features a Nano Textured Glass (NTG) finish, which reduces glare and provides an excellent viewing experience.

The NTG finish also allows for a wider range of brightness settings, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. In contrast to the standard 5K display, this model offers even more resolution at 5120x2880, providing an immersive viewing experience for content creators and gamers alike. With its impressive specs and sleek design, the M1 Ultra is undoubtedly one of the most powerful devices in Apple's current lineup.

Testing the Audio Quality

Another aspect that deserves attention is the audio quality on this device. The speakers have been praised as being remarkably good, rivaling those found on HomePods. While it may not be possible to hear these differences firsthand, rest assured that our review will delve into the finer details of this audio setup.

Customizing Your Mac Studio

For those looking to customize their Mac Studio, Apple provides a range of options and accessories. From adjusting the display's orientation to using different keyboards and peripherals, users can tailor their workspace to suit their specific needs. The M1 Ultra model comes with more storage options than its predecessors, providing ample space for files, projects, and applications.

In conclusion, the M1 Mac Mini and its variants offer a range of features that make them attractive options for users looking to create a compact workstation. From the new peripherals and accessories to the impressive specs and sleek design, each aspect has been carefully designed to provide an optimal user experience.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enyou've read it in the title already this is the new mac studio so we did have to wait a little bit but it is finally here we also have the new accessories so the black keyboard with touch id we also have the new magic trackpad and we also have the new magic mouse but with this we also have something interesting it's heavy so this is uh the new apple studio display this one does have the extra hinge that allows you to go up and down as well so a tilt hinge and this also has the nano textured glass this thing actually weighs in at 16 kilograms which is much more than a full-size imac pro which i've had for a while which weighs in at 10 kilograms so that has a full mac inside of it this only has the display and this is built with a thicker metal frame and chassis so i'm really interested in checking it out this also almost costs as much as a imac standalone as well you only need one chance one opportunity these handles are really solid for the fact that they're not made out of any kind of plastic did it rise isn't it supposed to sort of rise now so that's the display so we have a thunderbolt 4 pro cable studio display quick start guide we also have instructions on cleaning the display with the apple polishing cloth then we have two apple stickers in black the most expensive piece of fabric so we've all heard that the power cable is not easily removable it is serviceable and apple does have a tool to remove the power cable but look at this packaging van seriously insane and then before we open this up you can see the hinge in action it's actually quite effortless look at that so that's what you're paying extra for in case you decide to do that and now we can take a look did i lie i did lie no i ripped it oh no i ripped it again so this is it this has the nano texture display and you can see it completely cuts out the glare and reflections you can see the front facing camera is over here and we do have grills on both the top as well as the bottom of this thing and so i'm assuming that the speakers are there you do have a thunderbolt port and a usb hub over here and this cable is not particularly removable but it's like the home part so you can tug on it really hard and it does come out i'm not planning on doing that anytime soon so it's fine so this is the mac studio and this one is uh basically the fully specced out version minus one thing so uh let's quickly unbox it and then i'll run you through the specs and the prices for all of these and i have to say the new packaging for apple in itself is a pretty cool design they probably spent a lot of time engineering this packaging so half of the weight of the entire package was the packaging itself so this was 16 kilograms the entire package and the box is eight kilograms we actually weighed it so it's kind of ridiculous uh the quality of this packaging so this is how it opens up in the same basic manner and this thing is also pretty heavy and you get the same 15 amp power cord for this one and nothing else here and your accessories are here so really really nice packaging i have to say that for both these devices the use of this the use of this cloth handle and uh just the quality of the paper the printing everything is kind of ridiculously good so what i will need is two 15 amp wall outlets as well which i don't think i have where i'm planning on placing this let's see how this opens up so you do a little lift it sort of comes away and here it is this is the big money this is uh the mac studio you can see the grill at the back we've got four thunderbolt 4 ports here and we've got an ethernet port along with the cable hole so this will go in here like that you also have standard usb ports in hdmi out a combi jack the power button is here and then on at the front as well you do have two thunderbolt 4 ports here as well and then you have an sd card reader which is quite essential for a lot of people because we do use uh usbc to transfer all our data from our cameras into the ingest machines and having one here means that you don't have to have a cable dangling all the time you can just plug it in when you need it and the same goes for people who use sd cards a lot of people still use sd cards to transfer their footage onto their editing machines so this makes it really easy to have that access over here and because this one is the m1 ultra this has thunderbolt uh four ports on the front if you get the m1 max variant you get a usbc ports on the front so that's cool so this is the m1 mac mini and you can see that as far as uh the size goes as far as the width and the length goes this is basically the same as far as thickness goes this is probably like two mac minis maybe actually more than two mac minis uh stacked up together so this is a big chunky boy and this one is heavier because this does have the copper heatsink and if you get the m1 max variant that has an aluminium heat sink so it is slightly lighter so this is what your setup is going to basically look like i just wanted to show you the older peripherals so this came with my macro so you can see that with the space gray one the base of the keyboard was also grey this one of course has the touch id for the newer max and also with the trackpad you can see this one was a space gray color whereas this is a black color and this new trackpad is also rounded off the difference between the silver and the gray is there but these ones will work either way so while this is booting another thing that i noticed was that only apple can take care of things in this way so some people are going to keep their mac studios this close to the monitor and the studio display and if you do have the tilt adjustment or the height adjustment hinge then you can't slam your mac studio which is quite incredible that they thought of this because i was thinking that why does it stop at this height why doesn't it go lower and that's because some people will keep it like this and it will not touch a mac studio from the top and another thing some people actually have seen that some people keep their mac minis here like this if they want to save some more table space and even then it does not slam on the mac studio so they've actually thought of all of that and you can see how seamless this movement is it's actually really satisfying it does have friction in it it's not completely loose so there is some friction in it and then you can see this tilt adjustment and then height adjustment and you get quite a good range although it is expensive to get that range so here's another useful aspect of having front connectors which i really missed in other devices is that if you're charging any of these or if you're connecting to any of these you can easily simply connect your cable and then it's basically ready to go so you can see this is the m1 ultra with the 64 core so this is basically the top of the line when it comes to that we've got 128 gigs of ram and then the display is a 5120x2880 retina display so this is the 5k display that we've seen but like i said this one has the nano texture glass which according to me this is the first time i'm actually looking at it you can see that you can barely notice any kind of texture on this if you're looking at video content which is actually really good i'm just going to bump this up to 4k and i can't really notice any kind of matty finish on the actual display which looks really really nice by the way and we just want to take a look at how the speakers sound as well these speakers are ridiculously good they're as good as home pods and home pods have really good speakers at least as far as bass is concerned and i can't really show you or make you hear what it sounds like but in our review we'll do a comparison with some of the other speakers and devices and even an imac as far as the audio is concerned so that you can see how good these speakers are they're actually really really impressive if you want to customize your mac studio and you want to know what we did here so you can see that this one is uh the 64 core uh mac m1 ultra apple m1 ultra and so this is a 64 core gpu with a 20 core cpu and a 32 core neural engine we've got 128 gigabyte of ram and the one thing that is less is instead of eight terabyte of storage this one has four terabyte storage so that comes down to about six six nine nine zero zero so that's a six lakh sixty nine thousand nine hundred noise as far as the display is concerned so you pick the nano texture glass it goes up to one eighty nine nine hundred and then you get the tilt and height adjustable strand it goes up to 229 900. so that's your display these machines of course we're excited to have them we're going to test them out soon and like i said you'll have lots of content for it if you enjoyed this video don't forget to smash the like button hit the subscribe button and don't forget to hit the bell
