We're at the New York Auto Show with probably the oddest car of the show today, what's it like to fly? It's cool David, it's uh it's just a nice vehicle. The thing about it is it's real. This is certified to drive on the streets of Massachusetts we passed all the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standards. I know I expected this to fly nice cuz it's an airplane I'm a pilot and it but I was surprised how well it drove.

One of the reasons is the aerodynamic down force on the vehicle you can see that's up, that'll put weight on the rear wheels and if you notice the front is sloped aerodynamically to put the right weight on the front wheels so you it doesn't feel like a light vehicle at all. I was really surprised I drove this in fact the first time I was going to drive it being a test guy okay, I got a test plan and after about 20 seconds I go you know what this drives like a car my daughter could do this. It's designed to cruise at 65 M an hour on the road your normal Cruise speeds this is when will we see it on sale.

We have uh already met the motor vehicle standards we it's designed for the aircraft standards we've just started the test to prove that we meet those standards we we got a 75 flight flight test regime if we meet all the standards then deliveries could start within a year. We have 100 customers that have made deposits that are in line so uh as soon as we show compliance with the aircraft standards uh this particular vehicle was made out of production molds uh it's ready to go this is real.

One thing I don't you might not know by seeing it is that it's designed for the crack safety standards for an automobile no airplanes are so we have a crumple Zone we have a roll cage we have airbags retracting seat belts. It's a level of safe level of safety that airplanes don't have. We also have another interesting thing, a ballistic recovery system if in the air things go really bad right here there's a frangible cover and a rocket motor sits there and you pull a handle in the cockpit the rocket motor comes out and deploys a parachute and the whole thing can come down in a parachute oh wow so it's called a ballistic.

So, there are levels of safety in this vehicle that are above anything that a general aviation airplane have. And presumably, you need a driving license and a pilot's license. You do any driver can drive it any pilot can fly it. The pilot's license however is a sport pilot it's a new category that's half the requirements of a Private Pilot. You need a minimum of 20 hours of flight time Y and uh to become a sport pilot. So, there are several advantages to being a light sport aircraft.

Wow well this is going to be interesting at our test track we'd love to see you bring in. And this is one of the vehicles don't put me behind the wheel because I'm dangerous enough on four wheels let alone up at 20,000 ft oh David.
