Epiphan Pearl (for Game Streaming) Tutorials _ Part 1 - Initial Setup & Touch Screen
**Introduction to EPPA Fam Pearl Tutorial Series**
Hello everyone, my name is Adam Ripples Box and welcome to my EPPA Fam Pearl tutorial series. This series will consist of six videos, as far as I'm aware. The first video will cover the initial setup and configuration of the Pearl. In the second episode, we'll be covering the backend administrative setup. The third episode will focus on input management, configuring your inputs, and setting up profiles. The fourth episode will cover video file management. The fifth episode is a bit different and will primarily be focused on streaming two different streaming locations mainly adapted for YouTubers and gamers. In the sixth episode, we'll dive into some more advanced streaming configuration.
For those who are new to the EPPA Fam Pearl, setting it up for the first time is quite simple. To start, you need to hook up all of your audio and video inputs, as well as connect your Ethernet cable to your network connection. Once you've done that, simply turn on the power by pressing the power button in the back. Wait for it to fully boot up, which should give you an empty video input menu. At this point, you're ready to start using the touchscreen or mixing your video. If you wish to control the Pearl from a computer instead of the touch screen, you can access the web UI by navigating to the IP address of the EPPA Fam Pearl.
**Accessing the Web UI and Initial Configuration**
If you don't know what the IP address assigned to it is on the touch screen, click the gear icon in the bottom right-hand corner. Go to System Status, and it will tell you the IP address that it's currently assigned. For now, just go to that IP address in your web browser, and the default login is admin with no password. With this information, you're able to set up some configuration settings and do all of that from your computer using the touchscreen on the Pearl.
When you access the settings for the Pearl through the touch screen, there are a few important icons to note. The four squares together icon next to the gear icon allows you to pull up all four video sources at once in a multicam viewing fashion. If you're on a single video source, touching it will allow you to view it in full screen. You can also use the arrows or simply tap to the right or left of that preview to swap between video sources.
Additionally, there is an audio levels indicator in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. The text at the top indicates what the source title is by default, which is just HDMI A or B. However, you can name them within the web UI if needed. To start recording, simply tap the little recording icon in the top right-hand corner with the timecode next to it. Same thing to stop recording.
**Live Mixing Video and Advanced Features**
The process of live mixing video on the Pearl is fairly straightforward. You simply touch the bottom right-hand gear icon to access your settings for the Pearl. Once there, you can use the four squares together icon to pull up all four video sources at once in a multicam viewing fashion.
When you're in full screen view, you can also use the arrows or simply tap to the right or left of that preview to swap between video sources. There is also an audio levels indicator in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. To start recording, simply tap the little recording icon in the top right-hand corner with the timecode next to it.
While the basics of live mixing video on the Pearl are simple, there is a lot more to explore and learn about its capabilities. As we move forward through this tutorial series, you'll discover even more advanced features and settings that will help take your content to the next level.
