---

### Introduction

In this video, Yuri and Jakob embark on a journey to explore the features and performance of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport. The hosts provide an in-depth discussion about their experience with the car, covering its design, interior, technology, and driving dynamics. Their conversation offers valuable insights for potential buyers or enthusiasts looking to understand this vehicle better.

### Exterior Design: A Blend of Style and Functionality

Yuri and Jakob kick off their review by discussing the exterior design of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport. They appreciate the car's sleek and modern aesthetic, noting that it has a German-like appearance. The rear trunk is highlighted as one of the standout features, with its well-crafted wing moldings adding a touch of sophistication. Jakob specifically praises the taillights for their striking design, comparing them favorably to those on a Honda Civic but ultimately finding the Elantra's lights more appealing.

The hosts also mention the rear diffuser, a functional element that enhances the car's sporty look. While they acknowledge its effectiveness in aerodynamics, Jakob humorously remarks that it adds a "wicked" appearance to the vehicle. Overall, their discussion underscores the Elantra Sport's ability to blend style with practicality.

### Interior: Comfort and Style at an Impressive Price Point

The interior of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport receives high praise from both Yuri and Jakob. They express surprise at how luxurious the cabin feels, given the car's price point. The use of fake carbon-fiber accents is noted for adding a sporty touch without being overwhelming. The red stitching on the seats and dashboard further enhances the premium feel, with Yuri even comparing the interior to that of a high-end German or luxury vehicle.

The hosts also appreciate the functionality of the cupholders, which are positioned conveniently without obstructing the shifter. They highlight the car's touchscreen as one of the best they've seen, describing it as smooth and user-friendly. The integration of modern features from the past 20 years is commended for creating a seamless and intuitive driving experience.

---

### Technology: Cutting-Edge Features with Flaws

While Yuri and Jakob laud the Elantra Sport's advanced technology, they also point out some areas for improvement. The car's infotainment system boasts 40 radio presets, which they find excessive. Although this feature offers flexibility, they suggest that only a few key stations would be necessary for most drivers. They humorously recommend prioritizing frequently used stations to avoid scrolling through the entire list.

Another interesting feature is the ability to customize settings such as blinker flicker speed and light response. While they acknowledge its cool factor, they also question its practicality, calling it "completely unnecessary." Despite this, they appreciate the attention to detail in allowing drivers to fine-tune the car's behavior to their preferences.

---

### Climate Control: Simple Yet Effective

The Elantra Sport's climate control system is described as basic but effective. The hosts mention that the car comes with manual controls for red and blue settings, which they find sufficient. However, they note that upgrading to automatic climate control would add heated seats and a heated steering wheel, which are desirable features for colder climates.

---

### Exterior Features: Functionality Meets Aesthetics

Yuri and Jakob highlight several exterior features that contribute to the Elantra Sport's appeal. The trunk's automated opening feature is a fun and convenient addition, activating when the driver stands near it for three seconds. They also appreciate the car's sporty design elements, such as the d-shaped steering wheel and subtle racing lines, though Jakob points out that the latter could be placed higher on the wheel for better visibility.

---

### Driving Dynamics: A Balance of Power and Refinement

The hosts discuss the driving experience of the Elantra Sport, noting its smooth and refined performance. The six-speed manual transmission is praised for its responsiveness, with Yuri comparing it to a naturally aspirated car despite the presence of a turbocharger. They appreciate the absence of turbo lag, which makes the car feel more mature and adult-oriented.

The suspension system is commended for its ability to handle well on the road, particularly on routes like the Nurburgring. Jakob admits his lack of expertise in handling but acknowledges the car's impressive performance. The steering is described as nicely weighted, with a d-shaped wheel that enhances the driving experience.

---

### Sound and Turbocharger: A Love-Hate Relationship

Yuri and Jakob have mixed feelings about the Elantra Sport's sound system and turbocharger. While they love the engine's backfires, burbles, and pops, which give it a sporty edge reminiscent of a Ford Focus RS, they are disappointed that these sounds are not audible inside the cabin. They suggest that adding more turbo badges could enhance the car's identity as a performance-oriented vehicle.

---

### Preset Radio Functionality: A Quirky Feature

The hosts find the radio preset functionality to be both intriguing and confusing. While scrolling through 40 presets can be entertaining, they argue that it is unnecessary for most drivers. They suggest simplifying the system by prioritizing frequently used stations and making the controls more intuitive.

---

### Comparison with Competitors: Elantra vs. Civic

Toward the end of their discussion, Yuri and Jakob compare the Elantra Sport to its main competitor, the Honda Civic. While they acknowledge the Civic's fun-to-drive factor and unique taillights, they ultimately prefer the Elantra for its superior handling and interior quality. They conclude that the Elantra is the best Hyundai they've driven so far, though they admit they haven't tested other models.

---

### Final Thoughts

Yuri and Jakob wrap up their review by emphasizing the value the 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport offers for its price. Despite some minor criticisms, such as excessive preset options and limited turbo badges, they find the car to be a well-rounded choice for both comfort and performance.

---

### Conclusion

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport impresses with its sleek design, luxurious interior, advanced technology, and refined driving dynamics. While it may not appeal to those seeking raw horsepower or excessive customization options, it stands out as a practical and enjoyable choice for everyday driving. Yuri and Jakob's enthusiastic discussion highlights the car's strengths, making it a compelling option for anyone in the market for a modern compact sedan.

pretty pretty amazing touchscreen the best one I've ever seen everything's super smooth like I've never seen one that night yeah I honestly think they took everything from the last 20 years of cars put it in here made it modern so if you hop in nothing's confusing yeah that's a pretty good way to put it what I don't like is that there's 40 presets for the radio and you can't lessen that like I don't need 40 presets so just don't use them yeah but sometimes like to scroll through instead of like going up down right so make your first five your favorite don't scroll through the next 40 yeah but sometimes I like the you know those those obscure ones so in between your gauges you have that digital thing and you can go through there change your settings you can change like everything you can change how many times your blinker flicks every time you touch it how your lights respond when you get in the car all that cool stuff that's cool but completely unnecessary no I liked it it was like fine tune the car for your style it's useless though it's cool but it's useless cool we have basic climate control we only have red and blue which I love you have to get the upgrade to get auto climate which I like so it's got heated seats and heated steering wheel which is nice do you think this car looks nice I think it looks incredible what's your favorite part I think it has to be the rear trunk because they actually put effort into molding the little wing into the trunk yeah that is cool I like lights the nose the taillights look wicked I really like the Civic taillights but I think these look better these look better but the Civic ones are more unique so you know it's a civic right away yeah they've got that grill thing on the rear bumper what's that called that's called a rear diffuser rear diffuser it looks wicked yeah it's it's so you know effective for all that fun I think that down forcing I really like this button you can push if it's too loud hi can I get one coffee please medium let me find somewhere to park and then we'll switch yeah I need to drive this by the way the trunk opens up when you walk up to it what you said you walk up to it you stand there for like three seconds it goes ha cool yeah this is cool hey Yuri ok so let's see if this sports made out of I mean it's pretty good it's fast but it doesn't feel fast exactly that's my problem with it it's an adult car the car sounds really good it's got like these like backfires and little burbles and pops it does like it's kind of like a Focus RS sound super cool good job on that one Hyundai except you can't hear it inside no on the outside I hate that I would like to hear those little things inside there's also not enough turbo badges I think there's only one on the front of the car that's because it's a mature turbo yeah I guess steering's really nice d-shaped yeah D shape really cool good job on that one it says subtle race cars they could go yeah it's even got the line however the line is in the wrong spot it should be at the top of the wheel this is blind spot monitoring doesn't matter I have a head this car actually does handle really well that new suspension they put out back huge difference I don't know anything about handling no you don't but it does really well sure I've been on the Nurburgring twice Oh twice was it the same visit yes transmissions pretty nice I did prefer the transmission in the Civic but no complaints actually no complaints so I want to show you something weird about the presets okay so you're off preset one in the radio screen click down on your steering wheel and it'll go to number two yeah just even go back to one and we go back to home yeah now click down it takes me to 40 yeah okay but if I click up which one - that makes sense okay so up is up and then down is down but then down is up unless you're in radio mode yes okay which car do you prefer this or the comparable Civic honestly I don't really know it's a really difficult ah so I think if I had to live with it probably this but if I wanted to just drive around Civic like Civic seems a little more fun to drive the Civic has turbo lag which actually makes it fun but this handle is better than the Civic so I think I would actually take this over the Civic you know what after driving this car I think this is the best car Hyundai makes considering I haven't driven any other Hyundai cars I'm gonna have to to be honest I think the Genesis looks so much better but that's the Genesis that's a new company now all right this is the best Hyundai Hyundai makes
