Cooler Master NR200 ITX Case Review - The Best ITX Case For The Money

The Cooler Master NR200 Case Review: A Comprehensive Look at its Features and Performance

One of the key features of the Cooler Master NR200 case is its tempered glass side panel, which provides an attractive aesthetic to the overall design. However, it's worth noting that this feature can also be a limitation. The tempered glass side panel doesn't really complement the vertical GPU mount, as it can choke the GPU and remove any potential for additional airflow. This means that the most ideal configuration would be to use the NR200 without the P, which is a separate case designed specifically for GPUs.

The top panel of the NR200 is one of its standout features, with an included fan or fans depending on which case you get. One of the really cool things about this feature is that not only does it have a guard, so no cables will be eaten by those blades, but the actual mount is also toolless, allowing you to simply push them into the rubber pegs and they stay securely in place. This means that the full airflow potential here is actually pretty decent, with two fans on top, two on the side, two at the bottom, and one for the rear.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind if you're considering using this case for an ITX system. One of these is that the SFX L position for the power supply will block the top front fan from having clearance because it does interfere with that power cable. While I appreciate the inclusion of these velcro straps around the power supply cage, you do have to spend some time making sure they don't exit and bump into your graphics card. This is why I had to raise my SFX power supply into the SFX L position.

The bundled front IO cables are a nice touch, as they stay in their housing and need to be plugged individually for power reset and other functions. The USB 3 cable is also purple, which is a nice design choice. Finally, when the system was assembled, I wasn't frustrated dealing with all the cables because the case is fairly large you can get to all of them easily. Because the radiator is on the bracket, you can simply remove it and do all your cables and put it back in place just make sure that no cables are touching the fan blades.

I was excited to use this case for my future small downsized desktop PC that isn't for gaming but for work only. I was going to use the NZXT H1 because of its towering form factor and really good CPU temperature, but the cooling on this thing is incredible at stock configuration. You can see both CPU and GPU are completely under control. Removing all the side panels you can see the barrier for airflow isn't that significant which is great.

I was only using the one top exhaust fan like you would find on the NR200, but removing it does increase the GPU temperature quite significantly. I then added the fan at the bottom as intake to help with GPU cooling, but that actually didn't do anything and putting that to exhaust was a big mistake as you can see the GPU temperature really just maxed out there for me.

The last thing I did was remove the side dust filter where the radiator is exhausting air, and you can see our CPU temperature improved by two degrees. We dropped one degree on the GPU this means we have a lot of cooling potential inside this enclosure which is fantastic. A 240 or even a 280ml rad for the CPU should be plenty, and the GPU has a lot of breathing room.

When I compare this torch test with the NZXT H1 which has a 140mm all-in-one cooler it does run hotter on the CPU that's understandable but look at that GPU temperature. The side ventilation is just not enough while the Erytx from Practice Design is an embarrassment, it's just a hot box here.

So performance wise the NR200 with the included 120mm fan for the top is absolutely enough and you don't need additional fans in there. So out-of-the-box cooling is phenomenal I would say this case is large enough and comfortable enough to do custom loops and really the only thing that I would say is kind of a concern for me of having this case on my desk is the airflow because it's exhausting everything from the side which means that if it's on my right side I can feel all that air coming in.

This case deserves a hardwarecanucks good and them good value awards if you're into the ITX direction and you find this pick one up. Alright guys I'm deleting check out this other relevant content subscribe for more I'll talk to you in the next video

for you becausethe price point isabsolutely a banger you're looking at 79for the nr 200 and 999 for the nr200pi will outline the differences later butshould this be your nextitx compact enclosure technologythat is 25faster than the competition all packedinto lightweight body with optical mouseswitches check it out belowso first let's dive into the buildquality and i'm happy that for 79cooler master did not cut any corners sowe do have an entirely steel bodyno aluminum here but that wouldskyrocket the price anyway i have thewhite model here and the only coloraccent are the feetwhich are gray they are removable andcooler master provides3d printing templates so you can 3dprint your own and replace the stockfeed i find it really cooland we also have a plastic top panelwhich is also graytrying to mix things up so it's not thatboring white enclosure the io is up tophere with the cooler master power resetswitchesuh two usb 3 ports and your combo audiojackall of the panels are toolless and wehave this dual peg systemwhere one of the sides on the side panelkind of sits inside the frameand the side panels can actually justhang off the little ledge therewhile the opposite side has dual pegsmaking installation super easythe only thing they cheaped out on areall the dust filters which are magneticand theybasically cover the entire case the topboth sides and the bottom twobut they're generic and not the highdensity high performance mesh typenow the interior is super interestingbecause we have a variety ofconfigurations available this casesupports really long graphics cardscpus up to 155 millimeters a 280 mmradiator on the sideor a 240 at the bottom as for exactstorage locations we have two ssd mountsbehind the front panel then you canmount either an ssd or a hard drive ontop of thepower supply cage and also mount thehard drive on this side radiator bracketwhich by the way can support dual 120sor 140mm fanswith their respective radiators andfinally sfx or sfx l power supplies aresupported the one odd thing that poppedinto my mind was that 155 millimeter cputower clearance because on their websiteyou can clearly see they're using thehyper 212 evo which is around 158millimeters so i decided to try my ownmounted that on my motherboard and putthat inside the enclosureand yes it does fit no problems with theside panelclosing the tempered glass panel closesjust fine as welland the only thing here is that youcannot install the sidefan radiator bracket if your cpu towerclearanceis higher than 155 millimeters so theyshould put a massive asterisk thereto clarify what this 155 millimeters isreally aboutand that in fact you can mount up to 158159 millimeter cpu towers in here forgpus we have triple horizontalpci slots which is fantastic for massiveoversized graphics cards that will justfit into that bottom chamberbut we also have the dual vertical pcislots whichexpands your configuration potentialthat's really the only advantage ofgetting the nr200pbecause not only do you get the temperedglass side panel and thesecond 120 mm top exhaust fan becausethe irregular nr200just comes with a single top exhaust andby the way they both come with a 92millimeter fan that you can mount at thebackin case you're not using the verticalpci slots but that's really where then200p shines because we havea very short riser cable included thatyou can usewhen you go with a vertical gpu reallythe advantage here with the vertical gpumountis the opening up of all that space atthe bottom for a really thick radiatorwith fans this also gives you anopportunity to hide all your cable masksbecause the graphics card depending onits lengthwill cover both the motherboard and thepower supply and the exiting cables fromthe power supply will not interfere orbump into gpuas you would with if your graphics cardis just mounted directly into themotherboard and that brings us to thepower supply mount and there are plentyso not only do we have little heightadjustment foreither sfx or sfxl mount but you canalso repositionthe entire power supply bracket to thefront of the enclosure and this opens upa little bit more area beside themotherboardif you wish but it does block the frontof that side radiator mount the oneconflicting part about the n200p howeveris that the tempered glass side paneldoesn't really complementthe vertical gpu mount not only will youchoke the gpubut also you're removing any potentialfor additional airflow because the sideradiator bracket i mean there's no pointof installing it if you have a temperedglass side panel so the most idealconfiguration would bethe nr200 without the p the one reallycool thing about the top panel and theincluded fan or fans depending on whichcase you getis that not only do we have a guardthere so no cables willbe eaten by those blades but the actualmount is also toollessso you can simply push them into therubber pegs and they stay securely inplaceso the full airflow potential here isactually pretty decent two fans up toptwo on the side two the bottom and onefor the rearjust keep in mind that this is an itxsystem after all so if you are trying tomax outall the fan slots get a fan controlleror many many splittersnow a few things to keep in mind ifyou're in the sfx l position for thepower supplyit will block the top front fan fromhaving clearance because it doesinterfere with thatpower cable and while i appreciate theinclusion of these velcro straps allaround the power supply cageyou do have to spend some time makingsure to clean them up and so they don'texitand bump into your graphics card whichis why i had to raise my sfx powersupplyinto the sfx l position granted i amusing thicker braided cables so whenthey do exitthey cover quite a bit of area butrouting everything else was super simplei appreciate the bundled front i ocables so they stay in their housing soyou have to plug them individually forpower reset and all that stuffand also the usb 3 cable is purple allrightfinally when the system was assembledfortunately i wasn't frustrateddealing with all the cables because thecase is fairly large you can getto the places and because
