Crafting_DIY New Years Resolutions for 2015 - HGTV Handmade

As we welcome a new year, it's the perfect time to reflect on our habits and make some changes to improve our lives. For those who enjoy crafting, the start of a new year is an ideal opportunity to set some specific goals for the upcoming months. In this article, we'll explore eight crafting-related New Year's resolutions that one enthusiast has shared with us.

Firstly, it's time to get rid of old, broken scissors that no longer work properly. According to our crafty friend, they're tired of being disappointed every time they try to use them and find out they still don't work as expected. This resolution is not only practical but also helps declutter the craft room.

Another resolution is to throw away little bits of leftover craft supplies that are never going to be used again. Our crafty friend acknowledges that these items take up space in their craft room and decide it's time to get rid of them. By letting go of unnecessary materials, they'll free up more storage space for the things they actually need.

In addition to decluttering, our crafty friend has also made a resolution to always cover their X-Acto Knife when not in use. They don't want to accidentally knock it off the table and end up like a character from a horror movie. This simple yet effective habit will help prevent accidents and keep their workspace tidy.

Another area for improvement is waste reduction, specifically when it comes to buying washi tape. Our crafty friend has been working on years' worth of rolls but only buys new ones unless they're looking for a specific color or have a good deal. By being more mindful of their purchases, they'll reduce waste and save money in the long run.

Brushes can also become victims of our carelessness, especially when we forget about them after a project. Our crafty friend is determined to stop ruining brushes by not storing them properly after use. This means making sure glue or paint dries completely before putting away their tools, ensuring they don't dry out and become unusable.

In order to keep their original brushes in good condition, our crafty friend has also made a resolution to utilize their Giant scissor collection for their intended purpose. Instead of using one pair of scissors to cut everything until it gives out, they'll use the proper scissors for the job, whether that's cutting fabric, cardboard, or other materials.

Glitter can be a fun but overwhelming element in our craft rooms, especially if we tend to overuse it. Our crafty friend has resolved to only use glitter sparingly and when completely necessary. By being more mindful of their glitter usage, they'll avoid cluttering up their workspace with excess sparkle.

Finally, our crafty friend is committed to using coupons when shopping at the craft store. They often forget to take advantage of deals and discounts, which can quickly add up. By remembering to use coupons, they'll save money and make more informed purchasing decisions.

In conclusion, these eight crafting-related New Year's resolutions offer a great starting point for anyone looking to improve their creative habits and workspace organization. By implementing these simple yet effective changes, our crafty friend will be able to enjoy their hobbies with greater efficiency and less clutter. We hope these resolutions inspire you to make some positive changes in your own life and crafting space.
