iPad OS 18: A Welcome Upgrade with Some Surprises
Pretty much all of your I guess normal setting stuff it matches more so what you see on Mac OS especially nowadays but you can see that this whole General thing is brand new. The about the software the way that everything is just organized is just a little bit better. It makes a little bit more sense, everything is Consolidated the way that it should be. But then you might be thinking like whoa whoa whoa where are all the application that are on here and now all you have to do to access that is press the apps button and then search based on app. And this includes even the native apps cuz I'm surprised normally the way that this was structured before is that you have all your settings then you have all the Apple native apps and then you have all your third party apps but this is all of them combined into one so you can see you have your health app here you have your messages app and then you also have things like Photo to Affinity photo and ppif fire and red finin. So just a different way to reorganize everything.
The search functionality is still here it's still there and it justs everything that you would want out of a settings menu. And one of the final things that I did notice that's going to be a systemwide thing that's going to happen is right now the best example I find is in the homekit application so you can see that there's a brand new menu right here on the top and then if you press on here you get that new animation to kind of expand that and then you can just press back to go back there. And eventually, you'll be able to reorganize everything. So it kind of fits exactly what you would want to see now not every application has it right now for instance Apple showed it off in the TV application big time in their keino but I have not been able to find it. It does have that side menu but it doesn't have that like top menu that they were showing off so again it's going to come as time goes on.
And you can also see it here on the actual photos application and this is a brand new view as well again this is coming in iOS 18 but this is a brand new category tab called trips. So I can press on here and it's going to move everything to the side menu but we have featured photos memories trips wallpaper suggestions so I click on that it's going to give me all these wallpaper suggestions from my own photo library. So I just really like how everything's now organized.
The New Reorganization of the Photos Application is a Nice Little Addition
I'm just kind of annoyed that there's zero stage manager improvements and zero secondary monitor support improvements and things like that. But let's finish up this video and that was just about do it for this video. Everybody like as you saw there are some bugs here and there it's not 100% perfect obviously we're still probably 3 or 4 months from it being publicly available to everybody probably mid to late September so again install it at your own risk I personally installed it on my 15 Pro Max iOS 18 beta 1 as well as iPad OS 18 beta 1. I have not installed Mac OS seoa and I have not installed watch OS 11 it remains yet to be seen if I'm going to do that but I did want to share these top features on the iPad side because again overall it's a decent Improvement to what we had on iPad OS 17.
My Biggest Gripe is That We Got Nothing on the Multitasking Side
But my biggest gripe is that we got nothing on the multitasking side. We didn't really get anything when it comes to Stage manager and secondary monitor support and clamshell mode and again some of those like PR level laptopy features that I was hoping to get but for now, we got to stay happy with our customizable home screens and our brand new calculator app.
If you made it to the end leave a little dolphin in the comments down below if you made it to the end and leave a comment down below as well of what you enjoyed the most out of iPad OS 18 if you have installed did you install are you planning on installing it and what's something else that's missing for you so far on the iPad side. But if you guys want to watch more videos like this one click on one of these right here and until next time I'm Fernando and I'm out everybody peace\\n
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enso everybody I did it I installed iPad OS 18 beta 1 onto my M4 13in iPad Pro and the quick synopsis is that it's relatively stable for a beta 1 but please install it at your own risk there have been reports of people saying it's that it's a little bit more buggy on every other average year and there's still a decent amount of stuff missing from what Apple presented during their keynote but after all that being said I do want to talk about my top features that are currently working on iPad OS 18 beta 1 let's talk about them well all right everyone we are on iPad OS 18 beta 1 let you guys know as you can see iPad OS version 18 and again this is the beta 1 so I will say install it at your own risk it was about 7 GB in size I'm using the M4 13in iPad Pro and I did install it at my own risk but in the couple of hours that I have been using it it is relatively stable it is a little bit glitchy every now and then but nothing to the point where I can't do something productive or I can't do some of my more important work but I did want to show off some of my top features to know about and to try out if you do end up installing iPad OS 18 and the first one is going to be as you can see here with all these blue icons is customizing the home screen and that is a big theme across IOS as well as iPad OS 18 so in order to get this look you're going to long press like you're going to go into jiggle mode we're going to press edit and instead of pressing adding widget you're going to press customize down here and this is where you get that awesome slider that lets you change the Hues of all these different colors so first and foremost it will be by default in this light mode which is the normal colors that you would see whenever you are installing an application or a widget then you have your dark mode which does black out or darken the first party apps at least as you can see it is a little bit broken here and this is where you're going to start to see some of that beta 1 stuff where you can see like Safari is darked out and but slack isn't same with Gmail same with affinity photo you can see the files app is good but then you have something like the app store app which for some reason isn't going blacked out so again some of the things you're dealing with but then if you go into tinted it will tint it based on the kind of majority Hue or color that it is on your wallpaper so if I have a different wallpaper it's going to give me a different Hue and then you can kind of use the slider over here to make it a little less colorful make it all the way white then you can also of course customize it to whatever color you actually want if I want it to be all red really dark red I can do that and then also if I want to grab maybe a different color from my wallpaper maybe this like orange-ish Hue it'll kind of go to that color and then I can decide how orange or what kind of opacity I want so that is how you do that you then have another option of going automatic which will then again change based on the time of day but I'm going to keep it as tinted and then you have the option to go with large icons which again doesn't really do too much in this sense it's much more visual on iOS 18 but it is something to consider if you want to have a little bit of larger icons and when you do press on the large widgets what you do see is that the letters and the naming go away so if I go back to small you can see here that it says Chase on the underneath that app when I press large it goes away completely so something to take note of if that's a look that you want to go for but one thing that is nice about this kind of change is that it's not taking up more or less space so you can still have the same number of lotion in every row and every column it's just going to be a little bit of a larger size icon and then to continue on with the home screen customization you can again again long press to edit the home screen and now with applications as well as widgets you can put the applications anywhere you want on the actual screen itself so that's a nice little addition to take note of and then lastly let's say if I want to move this over here to give you a better idea you can now see that there's this little icon in this little like Grabber thing on the bottom right hand corner of every widget and that just means that I can make them bigger I can make them smaller so I no longer have to actually customize them inside of the widget application or the widget kind of edit mode I can just go in here and make this one bigger if I wanted to to then move that out of the way and I can again change the size of the widgets in real time so the next feature is going to be all about control center and control center got a big revamp so as you can see right here on the top right hand corner you still activate it the same way you would now you can see that it visually looks a little bit different everything is a little bit more rounded off you know have Circle icons instead of those like kind of rounded off squares and rectangles and it's just a little bit clean a little bit nicer and there's two big aspects about the new control center to take note of first and foremost is that you can actually slide down to get different control center views of so many more important tools and important kind of applications that you want access to so here is the music one and I can actually control all the different speakers in my house if I scroll down again you then have a better view of all the homekit accessories that you have as well as being able to go to your homekit right here and then if you swipe down again one more time it gives you all of your connectivity information right so you have airplane mode airdrop Wi-Fi Bluetooth and your VPN and then if I swipe all the way up again and then press on this little plus sign you now have the ability to move your widgets as much as you want and it's going to be very similar to adding widgets to your home screen so as you can see each one of these has a little kind of pulling monitor I don't know what Apple's calling this little section right here but again you can make them bigger you can make them smaller if you want you can resize them and then what's nice about it is that let's say if I want to delete you know the the Shazam one I can get rid of it it moves up and then if I want to add a new one press add control and then you have this huge menu of all these different options you can choose from when it comes to adding stuff to your control center so you can go from sound to Vision accessibility to different utilities to translate to again text size connectivity and then you have your normal ones right here which are kind of all right there and then of course you can search on them with a little word search there and just to give you an idea of how it works if I want to add the camera one I just tap on the camera and then there it shows up and I can make it bigger to make it a bigger one if I want to I can make the smaller if I want to have it side to side and you can literally remove all of these and completely customize it to how you see fit which is very very cool and the last thing you do have is this little power button right here which again just takes you to the actual turn off which I'm not going to do and now let's move on to the Beloved calculator applications so by default it will show up on your screen so if I press on here let's go to the actual basic calculator for now and as you can see this is what it looks like I'm going to have an entire video maybe walking through all of it I just want to give you guys an idea of what it looks like again at this size it's a normal calculator it just looks kind of big the only thing that you have here is a history of what you've done before if want to press on here again this is your shortcut menu to go to your scientifical calculator so have your sign your cosine your square roots you know all that good stuff again you also have your history tab here and then this is where it gets kind of cool with your math notes so as you can see I'm going to start one from scratch actually but I'm going to show you exactly how this works so if I want to add it from scratch it kind of looks like the Notes application right so if I grab my apple pencil do have something simple like a 2+ 2 equals and then it'll add up to four and then like you saw in the keynote in real time if I want to divide this by four it's going to change the answer in real time as well so now it's 2.5 because it's 2 plus a half which is 2.5 and then it also does graphing right so if you want to do a classic y = 2x -1 it's going to look at it it's going to realize what it's going on you can then press insert graph and then you can see that I have a graph that's inserted right here with that equation for that graph itself and same thing that you can do so I can actually divide this by like seven if I wanted to in real time then it's going to change the graph to match that equation so again very cool very self-explanatory like if I want to do 9 the square root of 9 will it work with that ugly handwriting we'll press equals and it equals three so it is aware it can kind of read pretty much anything if I wanted to do maybe y = x < TK 2 it should give me a parabola if I want to do insert graph and there it is so again it works very well like I wish this was out when I was in high school when I was in college because it would have been game over so whoever's taking algebra calculus right now you're going to really enjoy using something like this but this is just a cherry on top I'm going to make a complete video walking through all of this cuz it also correlates into the Notes application and things like that so the next thing that got to quiet revamp is going to be the settings application so when you open up the settings you might have noticed in the very beginning that it looks different right on the left hand side you have pretty much all of your I guess normal setting stuff it matches
