The Mighty Mini _ iPhone 12 Mini review

**The iPhone 12 Mini: A Game-Changing Device with a Twist**

I'm excited to share my experience with the iPhone 12 mini, a device that has been on my mind for quite some time now. The phone's design is sleek and compact, making it easy to carry around in one hand. As someone who's always on-the-go, I appreciate how this device can fit seamlessly into my bag or pocket without weighing me down.

**A New Era of iPhone Design**

The iPhone 12 mini is a significant departure from the traditional iPhone design we've seen for years. Gone are the days of big chins and foreheads, replaced by an all-screen experience that's both modern and desirable. The phone's compact size belies its impressive specs, making it a true contender in the world of smartphones. When I first picked up the iPhone 12 mini, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and wonder at how Apple had managed to pack such a powerful device into such a small package.

**A Smaller Screen with a Big Impact**

One of the standout features of the iPhone 12 mini is its screen size. Despite being smaller than some of its predecessors, it boasts almost the same screen real estate as an iPhone 6s Plus or 7 Plus. This means that users can enjoy a larger screen experience without sacrificing portability. The phone's display is clear and vibrant, making it perfect for watching videos, browsing the web, or simply enjoying your favorite apps.

**Trade-Offs: Battery Life and Camera Capabilities**

While the iPhone 12 mini is an impressive device, there are some trade-offs to consider. For one, its battery life is smaller than that of the other iPhone 12 devices, which means users may need to recharge more frequently throughout the day. In my experience, I've been able to get a full day out of the phone without issue, but if you're someone who tends to burn through batteries quickly, you may want to have a spare charger on hand.

Another trade-off is the absence of the telephoto camera found in some of the other iPhone 12 models. While this means that users won't have access to the same level of optical zoom and portrait mode capabilities as they would with an iPhone 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max, I've been pleasantly surprised by how often I find myself using the ultra-wide lens instead. In fact, I've come to realize that I'm not taking advantage of the telephoto camera as much as I thought I would be – and knowing that I can simply crop in to get a closer shot with the standard lens is often sufficient.

**The Verdict: Is the iPhone 12 Mini Right for You?**

So, when it comes to deciding which iPhone 12 model is right for you, there are a few key factors to consider. First and foremost, there's the price point. With the iPhone 12 mini starting at $729 without carrier incentives, it's the cheapest option in the lineup. Additionally, if you want a device that's truly pocket-friendly with a massive screen experience, the iPhone 12 mini is an excellent choice.

That being said, if you're someone who values having the biggest screen and battery life possible, the iPhone 12 Pro Max may be worth considering instead. Finally, for those who are still attached to the idea of having a telephoto camera on their iPhone – as I am – you'll need to weigh this against whether or not it's something you use regularly.

In my opinion, the iPhone 12 mini is an absolute must-have device for anyone looking for a compact, feature-packed smartphone without breaking the bank. Its compact size and all-screen design make it easy to carry around in one hand, while its impressive specs ensure that users won't miss out on anything.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's going on everybody ian here for called the mac and a couple weeks ago i reviewed the iphone 12 pro and i praised its ultra premium design its triple camera system and just the way it felt to use and hold in your hand but for a lot of people the thousand dollar starting price tag the three camera system in that premium stainless steel body might not be enough to sway you into the pro half of the iphone 12 lineup and if you're not going to go pro this year i think the best iphone to get is this one the iphone 12 mini now the iphone 12 mini is the smallest iphone that apple has released since the original se back in 2016. but unlike both the first and second generation iphone se the iphone 12 mini doesn't have to trade in specs for size and in fact it offers almost all the exact same features as all the other iphone 12 models at both the size and price that's better for your pocket in fact the only thing that really makes the iphone 12 mini any different than the regular iphone 12 this year is the physical size and therefore the battery inside of it now compared to the 12 pro and 12 pro max you do lose out on things like the telephoto camera 60 frame a second dolby vision hdr and you trade in that polished stainless steel body for aluminum bands on the outside of the device now aside from that you get the same a14 bionic chip the same impressive camera processing including the improved ultra wide performance 30 frames a second double vision hdr the same 5g connectivity as all the other devices in the lineup and the same new flat edge design which i personally am a huge fan of on top of that with the 12 mini it's all packed into a device that you can comfortably reach both sides of or from top to bottom without over stretching your hand meaning that no matter how big or small your hands are this is something that anyone can use now using the iphone 12 mini when you're out and about actually feels really great too now for me personally i came from 11 pro and then briefly the 12 pro but using the 12 mini when i've been out and about is absolutely fantastic i'm able to reach across the screen or reach up to the top edges and interact with things without having to stretch too hard or call on a second hand to come in and help it's also really easy to do things like type with one hand on the 12 mini because that keyboard is just a little bit more compact and it fits a little bit better in your hand now that we've all just kind of gotten used to phones getting bigger and bigger so you don't really notice that you're stretching more and more calling on a second hand more and more to use your device when it comes to actually using the 12 mini it's really hard to express just how nice it is to use an iphone that you can use one-handed that still offers that modern full edge-to-edge experience you know a lot of people think i don't care about the chat i don't care about the forehead but the interaction on the newer iphones is also really really good and having that experience on something that can fit literally in one hand and you can use in one hand is something you just cannot compare to any other device something that's been missing from ios for a long time now it comes to the overall physical size of the iphone 12 mini it's actually smaller than the second generation iphone sc which was the same size as the 6 6 s 7 and 8. but instead of having the big chin and forehead of those devices now you're left with just this small notch at the top and an otherwise all screen device which actually means you're getting a larger screen in a smaller form factor the iphone 12 mini actually packs almost the same size screen as a 6s plus or 7 plus or eight plus but in a device that you can actually use with one hand now the 12-minute does have a couple of trade-offs first of which is the fact that it has a smaller battery than the other iphone 12 devices now that means you're not going to get the same battery life as you get with the iphone 12 12 pro or 12 pro max now in my use i've been able to get a full day out of the 12 mini just fine but if you're somebody who tends to burn through batteries a little bit more you know you're on a lot of calls or doing a lot of video stuff on your device you may want to have a spare charger around or maybe pick up one of the bigger devices that has a little bit more battery life another concern with the battery life on the 12 mini is the fact that on devices over time you see a little bit less battery life so my 11 pro used to last a full day and still have 30 or 40 left at the end of the day and now i'm ending days with 10 to 15 percent and if that same kind of wear happens on the 12 mini i'll definitely need to be plugging in before the day is over now a second trade-off with the 12 mini is the fact that it doesn't have that telephoto camera like i mentioned before and as somebody who went from again an 11 pro with the telephoto camera it's hard to let go of that additional camera and that third perspective now actually doing some digging on my own personal photo library what i did find is that i'm using the ultra wide camera about twice as often as i'm using the telephoto camera now ultimately for me personally it reinforces the fact that well i think that i need that third lens to really get the most out of my camera i'm not taking advantage of it as much as i thought i would and knowing that i can use the standard lens on here which is very good and just crop in to get more of a telephoto look is probably sufficient in most situations so when it comes to deciding which iphone 12 model is right for you there are a couple things to really consider first of which is price point with the iphone 12 mini starting at 729 without carrier incentives it's the cheapest of the iphone 12 lineup and you can upgrade storage from 64 gigs to 128 gigs for an additional 50 bucks second off is the size if you really need a device that has the biggest screen and the biggest battery life obviously the iphone 12 pro max is right for you but if you want something that's more comfortable more pocketable more enjoyable to hold on to and use one-handed the iphone 12 mini is absolutely fantastic there's also the cameras to consider like i said the ultra wide and standard camera on here are the exact same as the iphone 12 and the iphone 12 pro so you're really not missing out on anything other than that telephoto lens which let's be real you're probably not using that much anyway so basically if you've been wanting a new iphone but you didn't want a giant device or you want the best device for the best price the iphone 12 mini is definitely the one to get let me know what you
