How to Share Content via Near Field Communication (NFC) on Android Devices
Hey guys, it's David from the unlocker.net hit about phone and today I'm going to tell you your version of Android. You can do that by opening your settings menu and looking for the word NFC. If you have both of those things - that means you're on Android 4.0. something or above - and you also have NFC in the settings menu, then this will work. So, just make sure that NFC is on, as well as Android Beam if you have it.
So, what does Android Beam do? It basically lets you share content between devices by tapping them without having to set up Bluetooth and pairing. This works in a few apps right now mainly Google's own apps, but will come to other apps as well. I'm sure PayPal wants to use this so that you can tap and send money between each other. And there are a lot of other uses you could think of.
So, real quick, let me show you how to do it. Let's say we have a contact that we want to send. We open the contacts on one phone, touch the devices together, and it vibrates. Then, it does this little star treky animation in the background, which is pretty cool. You tap it, and then it loads on the other device. Uh, you choose whatever account you wanted to save it to, and there you go.
In addition to contacts, we can also share map information apps. So, just go into the market, look at the app you want, and tap it. It automatically opens the app in the market on their device, and that's how to easily share content via NFC.
So, let's recap what we need to do. You need to have both Android 4.0 or above and NFC in your settings menu, as well as Android Beam if you have it. Then, just make sure that NFC is on, and go into the contacts app to send something to another device. And if you want to share map information apps, just go into the market and tap the app, and it will open up on their device.
Overall, this feature is pretty cool, and I'm excited to see how it develops in the future. It's a great way to share content between devices without having to set up Bluetooth and pairing, and there are a lot of other uses you could think of. So, stay tuned for more information about Android Beam and NFC, and don't forget to try out this feature yourself!
