First Impressions: The iPhone 10 Unboxing Experience

I'm so excited to finally have my hands on the iPhone 10, and I've been talking about this thing for months. To actually hold it in hand and take a look at it is pretty incredible right now. I click off my old iPhone 9, which was my trusty sidekick for quite some time, and I'm eager to experience the new features of this device. The Space Gray 256 gigabyte version is what I've got here, and I have to say, it's really hard to get these at launch. Honestly, it's more difficult than it needed to be, but here it is.

As I unbox this phone, I'm reminded of the design that Apple was going for with the next versions. The iPhone 10 is a flat slab of glass, and I think this is about 90% of what they were aiming for without a notch. Man, this thing is sleek! It's the most satisfying unboxing ever, if I do say so myself. The Space Gray version isn't as dark as it looks; there's definitely some color going on here. And that stainless steel? Just incredible. Wow, oh my goodness.

I wonder how this will hold up against scratches, though. I'd hate to scratch my knee 10 on this thing. The camera is incredibly sleek, and it looks a lot better than what I've seen in other models. It's very close to the phone itself, and that's not bad at all. The pictures make it look a lot worse than it actually is; it's so cool how it blends in. And, of course, this color is definitely a fingerprint magnet already. I think silver would be better for that.

Now, let's power on this thing! *presses power button* Yeah, so the black completely blends with the bezels; you can't even tell where the display ends, to be honest. If you've been following my videos, you know I was expecting 11.2 stops of dynamic range when it comes to the flash, and I'm glad to say that's exactly what we're getting here.

I'm guessing this is running iOS 11.1, which would explain the slight stuttering when swiping up a little bit. Oh my goodness, this is so exciting! I haven't felt this excited about a product from Apple in a long time. The viewing angles on this display are incredible; it supposedly has a better display than the Galaxy Note 8, even beating out top Android phones.

Looking around the packaging, you'll notice that it's rounded to match the display, which is kind of cool. All right, so here's what's in the box – there's only the phone itself! No iPhone stickers or any other surprises inside, just a sleek and simple design. I'll go ahead and set this up real quick and take a look at what the software is like.

This is seriously incredible; the display is popping more than I expected it would be, but boy does it get bright! The viewing angles are better than an LCD that's for sure. Oh my goodness, just using this phone feels so fluid – going to home is actually feeling very natural without a home button, and then you've got all these whole commands for opening apps; it's like magic!

The touch input refresh rate is 120 Hertz, but the actual display is only 60 Hertz. Still, it feels pretty good. Let's see what this thing can do when we put it through its paces! *presses various buttons and tests features*

It turns out that the iPhone 10 will be getting software updates, which is very interesting. I've been wondering how behind they were on updates before, but now it seems like they're going to catch up in no time.
