**The Trend of Giant Food Videos: A Rant from a Self-Proclaimed Giant Food Hater**
You know what's absurd? Making a cheeseburger with a patty this big. It's hard to eat, and it's just not necessary. I mean, who wants a normal-sized cube burger? I'm going to love right now, but the last thing I want to talk about is why these giant food videos are so trendy.
I want to ask you guys, brothers greensand, what you enjoy about them if you've clicked on them I know I have clicked on them from time to time. I see it, and I click on it, cool, big food. You know I'm kind of interested in how it's made. Usually, that lasts about like five seconds, and then I move on. But I'm wondering, from you, what is it that makes these things so popular? Why do you like them if you do like them?
**A Break from Giant Food: Whipping Up a Normal Sandwich**
I figured I would least leave you guys with a normal-sized food recipe. So, I am going to whip up an awesome sandwich just from the normal stuff I have in my house. I've got some dough, I know I can fry that up, and I've got some chicken. That is the base of the start of my sandwich.
The first thing I'm going to do is I've got this chicken breast right here. It is vacuum-sealed; it was frozen but now it's defrosted. So, I'm going to take this out; it has the skin on there. I'm going to pound it out nice and thin, which is what I normally do with chicken breast because it's so tricky to cook you can overcook it so easily, and it's normally different sizes like it kind of dips in places. So, it's nice to just have an even sizing throughout the entire breast to get a nice quick sear on both sides for perfect chicken breasts every single time.
**Building the Perfect Sandwich**
We're building this sandwich; we've got the bulk of it right there that chicken is resting right now for at least five minutes. You want to give that some time to reabsorb those good juices. I've got some of these peppers right here; look at these things; they are teardrop peppers. They're really not too spicy, they've got a lot of tags in the vinegar, honey bit of spice. So, what I'm going to do is make a pepper mustard with these things and I figured I'd add a little honey in there to make a pepper honey mustard. I'm just going to grind up the peppers first, and then I am going to add the mustard and honey.
**The Final Component: The Dough**
The last component of this sandwich before we build this sucker is the dough; the bread that we are making. We have a half whole-wheat half all-purpose flour dough right here made this morning, and it's risen and it's beautiful smelling incredible, and just a great thing to have around you could go out, you could buy some bread or you can just make some dough real quick and then there's so many purposes you could use for this. I am going to fry up some flatbreads really nice; they're nice so just roll them out into a nice circle. Get your pan on a nice medium heat, I'm going to hit it with just a little bit of oil and butter so the butter is going to have that nice flavor involved. A little extra browning but make sure your heat is on a consistent medium to medium-low so you don't burn this thing. You want it to cook through; you want it to be crispy on both sides, and you want it to be super chewy and tender on the inside.
**Assembling the Sandwich**
They got my flatbread coming in hot, I'm going in hot; what I did was just kind of made a little slice down the middle that's just going to help with the actual fold over. Take some ripe avocado spread that on the bottom layer. Hit that with just a little bit of salt. Layered on that chicken first, then I hit it with Tamotsu key good old tomato. I went on with some pea shoots that's what I had but any type of fresh green on top of there is going to be great and then I went on with that pepper honey mustard; which is delicious that's just an incredible family's right there all of the elements that I would want in a sandwich; the freshness, the tang of the mustard creamy avocado. Great stuff and ironically it's a little bigger than I would normally make but you know overall I could say this is this is normal food; normal-sized stuff.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enall right so I'm here to talk about something that has been bubbling up inside of me for a while something I've been seeing on YouTube that I can't really keep inside any longer I gotta I got to release it I normally don't do commentary videos but this one I want to talk about I want to hear your feedback and that is on the giant food trend on YouTube what the I'm sure a lot of you have seen it it's hard to miss I mean it's giant food and it's all over YouTube it's trending like crazy so many different channels are doing it as you can see if you just type in look at this type in giant Snickers bar for a second let's do we got oh we've got pretty much an entire page of giant Snickers bars some big creators here you know you've got my virgin kitchen they did a giant Snickers bar you got healthy junk food here you go you've got my cupcake addiction that's a big channel and then when you get down to the bottom it gets a little sad because it's like smaller channels who are trying to hop into the giant food trend just just to get them views they just want them views they want them subscriptions why not hit the giant food trend here you go giant Snickers bar 23 views Emily Carnes just just trying to get some she's just trying to get in on that trend she's trying to build her channel I don't blame her this guy was the one who really sent me over the edge bond gives is less bond is less and I you pronounce his name just click on it all right that's enough to him but look at his popular uploads every single one is giant food you've got a giant Twix bar you've got classic giant cheeseburger giant Oreo I've seen that maybe 74 times and then you just keep going down all giant food so this guy has literally created his entire channel I mean I'm sure he's got other things let's say okay so he's got some other videos but all of his popular videos are built on these giant foods and people love it that's a lot of views he's getting I mean these are big numbers and they're all within like the last few months now what is going on why do people love to see giant food on the internet and this kind of bugged me for a while because I create food videos for you guys for living I try to teach you guys how to cook that's what brother screen does Josh and I have been working hard at that for years so when you see these people who are creating these giant foods getting so many hits it can be a little frustrating but I started to realize that these videos were in a whole different category of food entertainment it's not necessarily a cooking show it's a different type of entertainment and you can actually trace that all the way back to Epic Meal Time who created the genre of just over-the-top cooking they came in like six seven years ago and just turned you know a thousand cheeseburgers in the one cheeseburger and people loved it they built an insane following now one of the issues I wanted to get into was the idea of hopping on trends on YouTube and the dangers of that and this doesn't just have to be food this can be any type of genre but if you look at Epic Meal Time let's say Epic Meal Time they have seven million subscribers that's insane let's see what their videos look like ok here you go here's a giant food a hundred pound Ice Cream Sandwich a thousand dollar cheeseburger so they're still doing over-the-top stuff clearly they're not getting as many they's to get like millions of hits for every video and that's one of the things I wanted to talk about with the trendiness of this stuff I think you know as you can see there's all these new creators that want to build their subscriber base they want to get those views so they hop on trends but that is a very dangerous game because what happens is you're building your network of people on a trend eventually those trends will die people will stop caring about giant food they'll move on to the next thing small food whatever it is they'll move on and then you've built your channel on that what is the essence of your channel is it giant food or is it something else so that's just something to look out for in all of YouTube and all of creatives on the internet is that you've got to build your channel on the essence of something real that makes sense to you if that's giant food that's great but watch out if you're trying to like build up your from you know nothing just find what you can relate to don't just hop on the trendy stuff another thing that pisses me off about it is the wastefulness of it and that's an obvious one because you've got all of these creators who are doing things for cliques because they know people will like it but what is the point are you teaching them how to cook like wouldn't you just rather teach them how to make a Snickers bar and then you've got this entire Snickers bar at the end and what do you do with it I can guarantee 80% of them go straight into the trash and you just wasted all of these ingredients I know you know someone like my virgin kitchen I've seen that he tries to give his stuff away so that's a little better I don't know like who would want a giant food because it's not an ideal thing to eat like I would rather have little food like a lot of times these things when they're built up they're just not it's not enjoyable it's not like an actual good thing to eat like you got to chomp through if you make a cheeseburger you don't want a patty this big that's just absurd that's hard to eat you want a normal size cubes burger is y'all even know where to and oh my gosh is so good I'm going to love right now the last thing I want to talk about or at least open up the conversation about is why these giant food videos are so trendy I want to ask you
