**Unveiling the Mysteries of the Excellent Pro Tablet**
I recently had the opportunity to examine the Excellent Pro tablet, and I must say that it has been a thrilling experience. Initially, I was excited to dive into its features and capabilities, but what I discovered was quite unexpected. The tablet's temperatures have reached up to 53 degrees Celsius, which is alarming considering that it is supposed to be a premium device. To make matters worse, the thermals I put on the x98 probe showed that it had reached an astonishing 65 degrees Celsius, which is nothing short of concerning.
**Modifications and Power Consumption**
To mitigate this issue, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I applied a copper heatsink to the x98 probe, which has significantly reduced the temperature readings. Without any modifications, the tablet would have likely reached an even higher temperature, potentially rendering it unusable. As for power consumption, I was shocked to find that the Excellent Pro is guzzling power at an alarming rate. The CPU package power alone consumes 1.3 watts, which is almost double what the Cherry Trail model consumes with similar specifications.
**Battery Life and Gaming Performance**
My tests revealed that the battery life of the Excellent Pro is severely lacking. I managed to squeeze out only four hours of gaming time from this device, which is a far cry from the promised battery life. Even when idle, the tablet continues to consume an excessive amount of power, which raises concerns about its overall efficiency. The Cherry Trail model, on the other hand, demonstrated significantly better performance in terms of both temperature regulation and power consumption.
**Comparison with the Cherry Trail Model**
For context, I previously reviewed the Cherry Trail model, which was the first tablet released by Microsoft under this brand. My experience with that device showed promise, as it delivered a respectable six and a half hours of battery life without any thermal issues. In contrast, the Excellent Pro has proven to be far more disappointing, both in terms of performance and reliability.
**Clock Speeds and Core Ratios**
Interestingly, the Excellent Pro's clock speeds are significantly lower than those of the Cherry Trail model. The latter's 2.4 GHz processor consistently maintained its top speed throughout the test, whereas the Excellent Pro's clock speed dropped to as low as 1.6 GHz in some instances. This drastic difference in clock speeds has a profound impact on overall performance, with the Cherry Trail model retaining its edge in terms of processing power.
**Conclusion**
While I am hopeful that my review is not representative of the entire tablet line, it is clear that the Excellent Pro has some serious issues to address. The excessive temperatures, power consumption, and poor battery life all point to a device that is far from perfect. As I eagerly await the international release of this model, I can only hope that Microsoft will take these findings seriously and work towards addressing these concerns.
**Notes on Future Reviews**
As I continue to test the Excellent Pro, I am eager to see if there are any improvements or fixes that have been made to address the issues I've identified. However, for now, it seems that this device has some significant hurdles to overcome before it can be considered a true competitor in the market.
**Cherry Trail Comparison Video**
I included a video review of the Cherry Trail model, which showcased its performance and capabilities in a more favorable light. This comparison is meant to provide context for those interested in understanding how the Excellent Pro stacks up against its predecessor.
**Chinese Model Notes**
It's worth noting that the Chinese model I reviewed may not be representative of the international release, as it has some unique features or modifications that set it apart from other variants.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enKristen from tech tablets I've been running a benchmark here was actually the stress test on cpu-z on both d it's 98 procure with its cheery trail atom and then the Bay Trail x98 a 3g care that's on the right now being running this benchmark now for about 13 minutes 120 minutes on the x 98 ear and having offer the temperatures hopefully you can see this in the video ok you can see that the maximum temperatures here that the bay trail has got up to is 53 degrees now if done no modifications to this tablet at all and I've actually modified the thermals I put a copper heatsink on the x 98 probe it was getting so hot something you should never have to do now that has gotten up to 65 degrees I mean it's not bad now after my mod without the model that would have gotten up to 86 degrees but what's interesting to note here is the power consumption figures here that it's giving me so if I have a look at the CPU package power so this is but the GPU and the CPU its 1.3 what's their consumption and according to battery bar pro here so 5.4 is a dispatch rag in total including the screen and everything else now if I have a look at the if I need prom the other hand at 9.8 wat so almost just on the double and if we have a look at the power consumption here from the cherry trail we can see that it's consuming the package 4.2 wats so that's a lot higher there and consuming a lot more now I did comment on the battery life I haven't run any full battery tests yet but i noticed that i managed to get four hours of gaming out of this tablet but even when i'm not gaming now it's looking like it's still consuming even here just running this stress test all the calls are loaded up at the GPU isn't you can see that it's still consuming almost double than the bed rail now I think there's something wrong with my unit but I don't know until I get another excellent pro to have a look at that temperatures in the power consumption on that one but at this rate the way it's going life I have both of them on idle and we have a look at the temperatures and the power consumption it's still consuming almost twice as much so the battery life is close to around seven and a half hours here on the x 9 8 3g a 3g and what is that doing that or blurred on the corner there and you know it's just not very good the church throughout the moment at least in this tub but now i reviewed a cherry trail tell that the first one that came out which was the Microsoft Surface three and i found that the better lovin that was pretty good too got about six and a half hours and i didn't have any those heat issues in it from microsoft of course and they got things ready right and they had to hire clocked at some x seven so it was running a 2.4 gigahertz ounces to point to point to point 2 4 gigahertz sorry and it will actually hold the clocks the whole entire time so it'll it'll have all four cores running at 2.24 and here on the bait rio know it clocks right Eddie Fox down a little bit and it's actually running at one point almost 1.6 gigahertz there on or for cause so you know it clocks down quite a bit so there's a big difference there in the clock speeds and if you have a lot of I show you here if you have a look you can see the core ratios 28 and that's been twenty out the entire time because you have it off with the minimum the maximum 28 and the whole time of 17 minutes they'll be doing this and that's probably because of my firm will bother to longer to do that now so I can get all four cores running really high there and if you have a look at the Bay trial here it's being jumping around a little bit but most of time it's it's currently and it will hold 19 so it's not too bad and then I'll hold that entire time there and it does to up to 22 point 6 the ratio which gives it the two point 16 gigahertz top 20 speed there but overall the first model here well the air 3g you too seems to be a lot better at the moment and I'm really hoping that it's just my one here is bad but if not things aren't looking so good for the excellent a pro okay you've got double the ram it does seem a lot faster but it's this when you start the game DP was getting really hot and it did trottle before so I did the modification I've got a video of that overall I hope that the next one I get has all that correct in the next batch the actual international release this is the Chinese model and so far I'm not really too happy with it but I haven't done the full review yet until I get the other model okay so that's a look there at the thermals and the consumption yet thank you for watching the video and hopefully I'll capture my next one bye for nowKristen from tech tablets I've been running a benchmark here was actually the stress
