Sweet and Sour Ribs - Fast and Easy

Welcome to Cook and Cheer: Sweet and Sour Ribs with a Twist

Hey guys, how are you doing? I'm Dave, and welcome back to my channel. Today, I'm excited to share with you a recipe for sweet and sour ribs that's a twist on the classic dish. I've added some delicious ingredients like pineapple, green bell peppers, and spices to give it an extra kick.

To start, I have a kilogram of pork ribs that I've chopped up into smaller pieces. Next, I'm going to crack an egg into my bowl, followed by three tablespoons of cornstarch, a pinch of salt, and some pepper - the amount is entirely up to your taste preference. Now, I know what you're thinking, why are we using cornstarch? Well, it's all about the texture. You want something that's sticky but not too wet, so you'll find this mixture achieves just the right consistency.

Now that we have our dry rub mixed up, let's set it aside while we make the sauce. To do this, I'm starting with 3/4 of a cup of pineapple juice - yes, pineapple! It adds a unique flavor to the dish that you won't want to miss. Next, I add 1/4 cup of water, three tablespoons of ketchup, two tablespoons of soy sauce, one tablespoon of sugar, and just a splash of vinegar for that tangy effect. Finally, I'm adding a tablespoon of cornstarch to thicken the sauce.

Now it's time to heat up my wok - or in this case, my handy dandy frying pan - with some oil. I want to get it hot, but not too hot, around 350 degrees Celsius or 177 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the oil is heated, I'm going to add in a small onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger for that aromatic flavor. Then, I'll toss in my chopped green bell pepper and some pineapple chunks - about half a cup should do it.

After that, I'll carefully place the ribs into the pan and fry them in batches until they're crispy golden brown. It's essential to not overcrowd the pan, as this can lead to greasy or undercooked ribs. Once they're done, I'll set them aside on a rack to drain any excess oil.

With my ribs cooked, it's time to add some more flavor to the dish. I'm going to sauté those lovely onions and garlic until they're fragrant - you can almost smell the goodness wafting from the pan! Now, I'll pour in my sweet and sour sauce, letting it come to a boil before adding the ribs back into the pan. With a final toss of the sauce over the ribs, we have our delicious sweet and sour ribs.

Now that our dish is complete, let's take a look at how they turned out. Aren't they stunning? The combination of pineapple, green bell peppers, and spices adds a unique twist to the classic recipe. And let me tell you, these ribs are finger-licking good! They're so tender and flavorful that you'll want to make them again and again.

So, if you're looking for a new take on sweet and sour ribs, be sure to give this recipe a try. It's easy to follow, and the end result is well worth the effort.
