The Thrill of Driving the Porsche GT8: A Review
As I stepped into the cockpit of this exceptional machine, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of excitement and anticipation. The Porsche GT8 is a car that embodies the very essence of driving, with its powerful engine, precise handling, and raw performance capabilities. As we set off on our journey, I was struck by the sheer thrill of being behind the wheel, with every twist of the wheel, press of the accelerator, and turn of the steering wheel sending shivers down my spine.
The GT8's exhaust system is a marvel in itself, producing a deafening roar that seems to reverberate deep within my very soul. The sound is unmistakable, a symphony of power and fury that seems to shake the very foundations of the car itself. And yet, despite its incredible performance capabilities, the GT8 is a car that feels remarkably approachable, inviting me to push it to its limits with ease. Whether I'm cruising down the road or unleashing its full fury on the track, this car always puts a massive smile on my face.
One of the most striking features of the GT8 is its ability to transform from a gentle cruiser into a high-performance machine in the blink of an eye. With just a subtle shift of weight, the car becomes a razor-sharp predator, ready to pounce on any unsuspecting corner or curve. And yet, even when cruising at high speeds, the GT8 retains its composure, never once losing its cool or faltering under pressure.
As I navigated the twists and turns of the track, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the sheer handling capabilities of this car. The steering is sublime, with every turn of the wheel sending precise feedback through to my fingertips. And yet, despite its incredible grip and composure, the GT8 never feels like it's 'catching' - it always feels in control, as if it's dancing across the track with effortless ease.
Of course, one of the most striking aspects of the GT8 is its incredible sound. The exhaust system is a masterclass in design and engineering, producing a sonic boom that seems to shake the very foundations of the car itself. Whether I'm driving flat out or cruising at a leisurely pace, the sound of this car is always music to my ears - a symphony of power and fury that never fails to leave me grinning from ear to ear.
But beyond its incredible performance capabilities and raw power, the GT8 is also a car that feels remarkably refined and sophisticated. Its interior is a haven of comfort and luxury, with every button, switch, and control feeling reassuringly substantial in my hands. And yet, despite its incredible level of refinement, the GT8 never once loses its sense of character or individuality - it always feels like a unique snowflake, unlike any other car on the road.
As we entered the final stretch of our lap, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over me. This was a car that had captured my heart and imagination from the moment I first laid eyes on it, and now, as I brought it to a stop, I felt a pang of sadness at leaving this incredible machine behind. But even in its final moments, the GT8 continued to deliver, its performance never faltering as we crossed the line with speed and aplomb.
And so, as I stepped out of the cockpit for the final time, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and gratitude towards this incredible car. The Porsche GT8 is more than just a machine - it's an experience, a journey that leaves you feeling exhilarated, invigorated, and utterly transformed. Whether you're a seasoned driving enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates the thrill of speed, this car is an absolute must-drive, a true marvel of engineering and design that never fails to leave you smiling from ear to ear.
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi guys i'm schmee hello and welcome back to the channel will you join me today back in the vantage gt8 heading towards the nurburgring we just happen to be following my 911 gt3 anti-racing gt3 which came past sounding magnificent but we are finally taking this one of the schmitt mobiles back to the legendary green hell now this car has been driven around before but not by me now as you know i try and take all of the schmitt mobiles to the ring but this is going to be a bit more of a challenge because of course six-speed manual now manuals i'm not saying it's particularly difficult but it is quite an extra step in terms of what you have to think about versus the almost computerized generation of dual clutch gearboxes and some of the other cars that i've been driving recently i'm hoping we're going to have a clear day let's drop the gears get back on the move here on the demonstrated auto marks and there is going to be plenty more of that sound when we get to the launch lifer we cannot wait to get this car back out in action we'll be there very shortly we've got about 45 minutes to go we're going to do some laps we're going to get all of our luggage out of the car first and then go have some fun we've made it to nuremberg unloaded the car i think we're gonna have time for two laps hoping it stays dry but of course we need to do the tire pressures they've been set for driving on the autobahn where you have them more over inflated today we need to just deflate them a little bit clean the window get the cameras ready i've got my lap tickets and then we will go straight on out as soon as possible where there are two concerns that i have bear with me one moment we'll get this tire deflated the two concerns are firstly this thing's loud is it going to be too loud for the nurburgring and secondly at the front here of course we have these extended splitters and i'm slightly worried what's going to happen on the carousel this might be taking home some souvenirs as i like to call it we'll have to see how that goes along anyway let's get in in a moment we'll head straight out heading down there towards the entrance of tourist and farther today tf tourist drives it's a public toll road road rule supply overtaking on the left although i suspect today i'm gonna have a few cars overtaking me because although this is a pretty special car it's not really the fastest car in the world we've got a 446 horsepower 4.7 liter naturally aspirated v8 but where this car comes into its own is the driving experience and the emotion behind the wheel i've talked about it a lot but the sound the feel the heavy gearbox the heavy steering the interaction that you have with it plus i also happen to have here the exhaust valve switch which we can open and then it's always loud so that's going to sound extra special as well so around we go i'm actually super intrigued to see how all of this links together of course more to think about than normal i need to make sure i've got my laptop which thankfully i do just here so we can go straight on through show the ticket all is good i don't think it's going to be particularly busy lap one is a bit of a warm up as always although i'll probably find that i do go and put my foot down but we will have to see we've been driving obviously for a couple of hours on the autobahns everything is pretty warmed up which is nice good way to start obviously tire pressure's deflated now out through the chicanes and here starts the first ever lap that i have driven of the gt8 here on the nurburgring the car went around i feel like i should shut up when i'm accelerating what a sound the car has been around it was joe achilles who piloted the car joined at the time by tim morley taxi driver there's a lot more to think about the sound of it tell you what in a way it's actually nice to slow things down a touch of course this is much lower than the 675lt or the setup but the thrills are mega absolutely beaming already as we go through hudson back this is stupidly cool here on the nurburgring with the gt8 at long last every schneemobile needs a lab preferably with me driving it to really be welcomed into the club another long last this finally gets an outing now we go to our trading rights the fastest part when you're doing the tf now down the dating complete circuit immediately here and this we're at 240 or so as we come down towards trading coins in the off camber here now heavy breaking into aaronvog downhill leaning out it's super sticky i tell you that thank you sir oh wow that was quite something we're coming towards that now forced this is insane this is absolutely insane imagine what it must sound like to the bikers as we go past this on-call chat just wow use some of the torque we don't always need to go down to the lowest gear of course it's a torquey na engine carefully does it behind the bike he's probably not aware that we're right behind there we go this is so epic this is so so epic i think this is the hardest that i've ever driven the gt8 already but attraction kicking in there we are in small mode so come out back up enjoy the sound guys i wonder you could probably take this flat in here and heavy break into bergberg this will be a second gear corner for sure the only other manual that i've actually ever driven around here is the focus rs well technically two the blue rs and the red rs i'm actually quite impressed by how well the car sticks i'm genuinely impressed with this we've obviously got two tyres we've got plenty of downforce with splitters massive wrists by that steady the car a touch fast sections i think they have done a lap with this car here on the nordschleife and i think it was pretty slow for the money we could say but like i said this is about driving experience and it's so so good keep it in through style striker the exit up to the carousel right moment of truth what's gonna happen okay let's go in i'm taking it carefully because i don't really know oh we're fine we're totally fine keeping on the concrete slabs no scraping traction completely lit up now we go back the noise is just a heavenly racket behind us i cannot believe how good this car sounds how did they get this through homologation how is this the stock exhaust system i haven't changed the headers i haven't changed the cats this is how it sounds and even if you have the exhaust valve closed it's the same same sound same volume so we go down through a weapon avoiding the carbs today this is just so cool am i pleased to brought this guy here as we come down now to brunching you can actually keep it in third gear through a lot of this a little jump whoa there we go traction lit up again over the next little job it's also not the lightest car of course heavy onto the anchors hear the brakes there with abs tell you the other thing somehow i've not had like a gt3 rs or something going absolutely flying by late entry into little carousel absolute skeleton card last corner of the lodge like absolutely incredible i hoped that driving this would would be that experience i don't know what else to say this is awesome this car is just so much fun it's ludicrous it's beyond words how it's not the fastest but i cannot believe i have not done this here before i can't believe i haven't taken it around because that was the coolest lap that was the coolest possible lap but here we're gonna find out if i was too noisy uh going around in any case just just silly fun i talk about it so often how good this car is for for this for just enjoying for just putting a massive smile on the face there's nothing else that makes the smile that the gt8 makes we're all good going around we are all good i was a little bit worried but nothing to be concerned about oh what an amazing amazing day oh we've got some cool things around here love it totally love it it has to be done going out for lap two but this time i've spotted at least one gt3 rs behind and i'm sure there are plenty of other very fast cars as well so no doubt somebody is going to come flying by well i feel like i'm going quickly with my foot down and i'm sure you've noticed the dashboard is in kilometers per hour of course we're here in germany but now we go from the chicane into second gear foot down in fact let's go sports attraction it says oh let's concentrate on driving first pressures are down slightly this is so amazing you really can just enjoy it so much more with a car that's a touch less powerful in the center it's so on edge when you're going flat out it's such an intense thing to drive wow keeping it in fifth gear down to training points letting the bit reps build up and build up and build up oh this is plenty fast enough for me so we're coming to aaron bike down to third gear use some engine braking as well as the brakes we've only got the steel brakes i don't have carbon ceramics in here to be honest i didn't intend to spend too much time driving it completely flat out still 210 with the box hole that felt quite good up towards that now of course one of the slower sections take a second a little bit heavy in there oh well this car is mega listen to the sound of this soak it all in what a drive enjoy following the motors here as well i guess similar kind of place it's kindly i think letting me it's a busy section of track it's another very noisy section of track back into style tracker before the carousel if we go a little bit quicker through the carousel hopefully we still won't scrape we'll find out in a moment here we go going in it's fine totally fine i think there was a small little touch but all is good with that so it's really an absolute delight to drive this car here honestly it's not the fastest i've said that about 10 times in this video i'm sorry but it's so much fun it's so noisy and involving and sometimes i think it's easy to get carried away with wanting to see the fastest cars possible attacking this place but you know what everything drives here and everything drives here for a reason because you can have so much fun in any car i'm gonna cool it down as we come back towards the end i've enjoyed this so much what a car to drive here on the nordgeleifer a very special schmie mobile car that means a lot to me and now that i've done some laps and we've got the bobots of the exhaust behind yeah permanent schmiema meal for a reason this car is a lot of fun and i guess i'm gonna leave it there so thank you very much for watching guys this was fantastic ah that's it for now i'll see you again very soon cheers youhi guys i'm schmee hello and welcome back to the channel will you join me today back in the vantage gt8 heading towards the
