The Bonnet: A Design Decision Without a Purpose

I'm sitting here with this car and I just can't figure out why they didn't include a bonnet. It's like, what's the point of it? There's nothing to lift up, it's all just fake. I mean, I have no idea what's in there, I have no idea what the point of it is. Your feet must come up to about there, and then you've got all this space that is lightweight to the extreme. So because there's no bonnet, and it's mid-engined, you think where's the storage? They must have a big boot, nope, not even close. Let me check that out.

As I look inside the car, I see that it can fit one seat through glass, some bottles of water, and probably my hand and that's about it. And it's right next to the engine, so you're essentially cooking any food in here, because by the time you get home, you'll have a medium-rare steak. The thing that I really wanted to point out is that it has a manual latch, so you can't just open it with the touch of a button like some other cars. You actually have to manually hook the boot lid up to access it, which means you need two hands, and when you're shopping, it's a nightmare.

I tried to demonstrate how much effort it takes to open the boot, but I couldn't even film myself opening it because of the manual latch. It's like trying to navigate a puzzle while holding onto your sanity. Add to that the fact that the car is so light, it makes sense that you wouldn't need a bonnet. But still, it's a weird design decision.

Launch Edition: A Story Behind the Car

The Alfa Romeo 4C has a launch edition story behind it that some people might find interesting. The first batch of 500 cars was released without much fanfare, and only an hour after the normal car was announced, they were launched in a surprise move by Alfa Romeo. So, how can you tell if a car is a launch edition? Look for these grab holes on the front bumper. That's the easiest way to identify it.

But that's not all. The launch edition 4C also features a completely bespoke suspension package, which gives it a slightly different look and feel on the road. You'll notice the changes in the air filters, air intakes, and other little details inside the car. And of course, there are grab holes on every version of the 4C because that is what you want to be able to check.

three-point turns and parallel parking at that point your arms die as I alluded to just then the car is insanely light it weighs less than a ton 895 kilograms now here's something which I think you're gonna find hilarious the bonnet of the car as you can see here traditional bonnet is fake they just drawn the lines it's not actually a bonnet you can't you can't there's nothing to lift up it's it's like commies a Maronite I love your Alfa Romeo how many brake horsepower 237 I mean let you people laugh in my face I think it's like a Citroen got more than that it's not a lot but it's quick okay a lot of people often want to know what is the launch edition so this car right here is a launch edition 4c and I talk about a lot of my videos and people often comment and say what is this launch edition you're talking about so it was the firt was the first 500 cars they made they didn't actually announce the launch edition first they announced the normal car and then an hour launched it in anyway there are a few well there's really one key thing that you can look for to know if a car was launched edition and it is these grab holes on the front bumper that is the easiest and quickest way to check if it is a launch edition 4c they have these different bumpers which have these wonderful grab holes which i think is probably to lift it up because it's so light I guess if you crash when you're going around a track you can just pick up the car and pull it out but that is the first thing to look for but you get a whole raft changes all of the carbon fiber that you see all over the car those are part do those so those are to do with the launch ition you can spec that on normal cars so it's not always the key thing to look for but you get a completely bespoke suspension package on this car so it looks a bit meaner on the on the ground as such love them when it's flying through there that was a weird point to make anyway it looks a bit meaner you get different aftermarket air in air filters slight different air intakes and then a hold of stuff inside but that is the launch edition so as I say look for the grab horse people that's the first thing to look for there's no sound happening in the force so it is loud in here you get on the motorway you basically can't talk to anyone it has Bluetooth but you're like one of my favorite things though it's got a carbon fiber tub that is right like your Ferraris and MacLaren's you get a carbon fibre tub and all of this exposed carbon fibre everywhere it makes me feel like I'm in a much more expensive car than I am and I love it makes the car very strong to excuse the dirt by the way I couldn't get to a car Washington so there you go a few things about the Alfa Romeo 4c that you might not have known before I hope you found
