AirPods vs. Anker Soundcore Liberty Air
I thought it worked pretty seamlessly most of the time although something was a little bit strange when I was using them with that feature when you use them in the airports and you say the trigger word you don't hear that beep like when you do it on the phone so if you say hey so that beep that I'm talking about you don't hear that in the air pods so yeah thank you so instead of that sound I hear nothing and then I kind of creepily a couple seconds later I hear Siri go mm-hmm in my ear and waiting for me to prompt it to tell it to do something which is a little bit strange what I do love about the airports is that you can use them independently in and out of the ears and they have sensors to know like which one that you've pulled out I really really like that that's pretty valuable these guys unfortunately don't have a similar functionality I mean if you take one out the music still is playing but you can only use the right one independently you can't say leave the left one in and do calls and stuff with it it just won't work it's finally on the right one when it comes to battery life both of these do pretty good the airport's actually hold a little bit more total charge so 24 hours of total charge that is with the case and all of the recharges it has within it or as these guys will give you around 20 21 hours of total recharge but the actual buds themselves the air pods will have 5 hours of listening time from top to tail whereas these will give you up to 5 hours now those are the numbers that they actually quote you in the Box I found the airports pretty much held true to that so I got 5 hours from start to finish on one charge and not putting them back in the case these guys I actually got a little bit more I got maybe like five and a half hours out of them before they kind of went totally kaput so it was pretty impressed
So let's look at some of the top line specs for both of these Bluetooth earbuds now both are bluetooth 5.0 they both have tap controls the air pods can hold 24 hours of total charge in the pods and the case whereas the liberty air are only twenty hours and the airports also have a special trick up their sleeve if they have quick charging so you put them in for 15 minutes and you get up to 3 hours of listening time the airports however are not water-resistant with any official rating these guys are they are rated IP x5 now while you can't use them to go swimming you can feasibly according to the IPX 5 rating get splashed with water jets so I don't know what that means maybe you're in the spa or maybe someone's just coming at you with the hose but this one should be fine these ones I cannot guarantee what happens if they get splashed ok
I've covered off what it's like to use and how my experience has been with both of these ear buds so now I have to choose and I think it is going to be the air pods and I'll tell you why I'm gonna spend 160 dollars because I like the more compact case I like the instant connectivity especially if I'm using iOS I like the I guess added safety benefit of being able to hear my environment especially if I'm out and about and for me they fit really well and they don't fall out but the liberty airs really give the air pods a great run for their money and if you only want to spend 80 dollars they are such a good pick and they might work better than the airports in a couple of different situations especially if you know the air pods don't fit your ears you can customize the fit of these so they sit really neatly and they block out a lot of the external noise so you get great sound isolation which is really good for listening to music I prefer doing calls on the airport's but then again everything else it's pretty comfortable on these guys and you also get tap controls too plus you get an extra 80 dollars to put in your pocket and spend on something else
"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthese Bluetooth earbuds cost half the price of Apple's new airports so do you really need to spend a hundred and sixty dollars if you want these so today I'm comparing these guys the anchor sound called Liberty air with Apple's new airports airports two airports new generation whatever you want to call them the airport's cost a hundred and sixty dollars or two hundred dollars if you buy them with the wireless charging case the anchors sound cool Liberty air cost $80 so why would you choose to spend half the money does that mean you get half the product well I don't think you do so let's start by talking about the design first up of the airports now they fit perfectly in my ears but for some people they might not fit well so if you're doing something active running around maybe brushing your hair out of your face they might fall out but for me they don't and I can use them when I'm running being super active or even shaking my head really vigorously and they're totally fine so that might be the first thing that stops you from buying the airport's on the other hand the Liberty airs have a similar design however these ones sit more smugly in your ear just because they have selectable wingtips and sorry because of that when I was testing them out I noticed that they had really good noise isolation so I didn't have to crank up the volume so much when I was listening to music but when I was sitting at my desk I was really focused in in a zone because I couldn't hear anything else around me people came up to me and frightened the heck out of me because I couldn't hear them coming the anchors come in black or white whereas the airports are white only so you're flat out of choices unless you want to do with the cutting modification or I don't know spray paint it yourself go for it not my air pods the Liberty as they are is a little bit bigger than the airport's case if you lie them side by side you'll see that yeah there's a little bit more bulk there then the air pods which stars look like dental floss nothing wrong with that it just means that it's very very compact which maybe that's important to you I know it certainly is for me because if I put it in my pocket it's not gonna create as much of a bulge as this one then the case itself has some charging lights on it on the Liberty air there are three lights that gives you an idea of how much charge is left in the case on the air pods now this is the wireless charging case that costs extra there is a light on the front obviously when you lay it flat on a wireless charging case it is going to be lighting up to show you if it's charged or inside the case if you flip it up like so you will see the light come on to show you that they are charged or charging now it comes to arguably the most important part of all this which is music and sound quality I have to say that I really found it difficult to kind of choose which one I liked the most overall it's a really really tight race and for half the price these guys do an incredible job that said I found the bass on these wasn't as punchy and wasn't as like in-your-face as the air pods I listened through a couple of different apps I used Spotify for streaming and I had a couple of songs on my phone that I listened to I also then listen to some podcasts and voice and spoken word stuff and definitely for podcasts and spoken word these guys are really nice because it does have that noise isolation so you can rightly really kind of like get engrossed in this story and the voices sound clear and crisp or as on the air pods it's just I guess you lose a little bit of that in the background and but when it comes to music I think I think I know it pains me to say this because the epidermis fantastic sound quality but everyone bags on the air pods but not having great sound quality I am one of them but I think for this one I think they have the slightest advantage just because I like a little bit more based on just default settings it's really dependent on the kind of the style of music that you listen to if you want sort of more like R&B then definitely you probably want to go the airports with a little bit more bass but they all sound pretty good and of course you can tweak in and equalizer too if that's your jam when it comes to the connectivity and kind of keeping that connection persistent I definitely think the airports have the advantage here especially if you're doing something like I'm at my desk someone comes to talk to me to take them out I leave them on the desk and then ten minutes later I come back I put them back in my ears the census go okay they're back in your ears they reconnect and everything's pretty seamless whereas with these guys I noticed a few times didn't have it all the time but sometimes when I would take them out of my ears and let them rest they would go to sleep and then they wouldn't three awake when I put them back in my ears and I would have to go all right I'm gonna put them back in the case and put them back in there and then the connection reestablish itself but it wasn't as seamless as the airports okay so something I really have to bring up that is a big annoyance of mine with these guides is the tap controls okay so maybe you don't use tap controls as much as me but I love having them especially if I'm out on a run and I want to constantly be changing tracks because sometimes I put on the wrong playlist and the playlist sucks and I got to kind of go through tracks as quickly as possible with the airport's you can customize the tap controls within iOS though not within Android within iOS you can go in and actually go oh I want to change it so the right earbud goes forward and the left one goes back or activate Siri or whatever it might be with these guys it's all set and sometimes it's kind of really hard to memorize them I know it will take a little bit of muscle memory and I'm not quite there yet but there are lots of different commands in terms of like the ways you touch the double tap or long press or even which side that you tap it does get a little bit confusing and sometimes the tap controls weren't as sensitive as on the air put so I was sitting there just going hello tap tap changed the track come on change the track come on and nothing was happening so that was frustrating for me now the voice assistant is one of those things that you kind of love and use all the time or you don't love and don't use it all and I'm definitely in that ladder camp you can of course use your voice assistant with both of these to activate it on these guys it's a sort of a tap and hold whereas on the air pods you can say hey Ceri I left enough of a gap so hopefully it doesn't activate your voice assistant apologies in advance if it does but you just have them in your ears and you say hey do something that you want it to do I thought it worked pretty seamlessly most of the time although something was a little bit strange when I was using them with that feature when you use them in the airports and you say the trigger word you don't hear that beep like when you do it on the phone so if you say hey so that beep that I'm talking about you don't hear that in the air pods so yeah thank you so instead of that sound I hear nothing and then I kind of creepily a couple seconds later I hear Siri go mm-hmm in my ear and waiting for me to prompt it to tell it to do something which is a little bit strange what I do love about the airports is that you can use them independently in and out of the ears and they have sensors to know like which one that you've pulled out I really really like that that's pretty valuable these guys unfortunately don't have a similar functionality I mean if you take one out the music still is playing but you can only use the right one independently you can't say leave the left one in and do calls and stuff with it it just won't work it's finally on the right one when it comes to battery life both of these do pretty good the airport's actually hold a little bit more total charge so 24 hours of total charge that is with the case and all of the recharges it has within it or as these guys will give you around 20 21 hours of total recharge but the actual buds themselves the air pods will have 5 hours of listening time from top to tail whereas these will give you up to 5 hours now those are the numbers that they actually quote you in the Box I found the airports pretty much held true to that so I got 5 hours from start to finish on one charge and not putting them back in the case these guys I actually got a little bit more I got maybe like five and a half hours out of them before they kind of went totally kaput so it was pretty according to the IPX 5 rating get splashed with water jets so I don't know what that means maybe you're in the spa or maybe someone's just coming at you with the hose but this one should be fine these spend on something else so what about you which ones do you think do you think you can get away with spending $80 or are you more of a person that's gonna say I definitely want to spend 160 on the airport thanks so much for watching the show I hope you liked it and if you did please come back in two weeks when I will be comparing a very very cheap SmartWatch to the Apple watch series for to work out if you need to spend more coolestthese Bluetooth earbuds cost half the price of Apple's new airports so do you really need to spend a hundred and sixty dollars if you want these so today I'm
