The Sony LinkBuds S are Underrated.
The Sony Link Buds S are a pair of innovative wireless earbuds that have been making waves in the tech world. These earbuds tick all the right boxes, including battery life and sound quality, making them an attractive option for anyone looking for a reliable and high-quality listening experience.
One of the standout features of the Link Buds S is their impressive battery life. With 20 hours of combined listening time from both the earbuds and the case, users can enjoy music, podcasts, or other content without worrying about running out of power too quickly. The earbuds themselves provide six hours of playback on a single charge, while the case adds an additional 14 hours of battery life. This means that users can easily switch between using the earbuds and keeping them in the case to recharge them when needed.
In addition to their impressive battery life, the Link Buds S also offer quick charging capabilities. With only five minutes of charging time, users can get an hour of playback out of the earbuds, making them perfect for commuters or anyone who needs a quick boost of energy on the go.
But what really sets the Link Buds S apart from other wireless earbuds is their sound quality. At the core of each earpiece is a surprisingly punchy five millimeter driver, paired with Sony's V1 chip to manage everything from active noise cancellation to audio enhancements and sound processing. The result is a smooth and warm signature that is reminiscent of other high-end Sony headphones, but tailored specifically for all kinds of music, movies, and games.
One key feature of the Link Buds S is their ability to customize sound to the user's liking. Thanks to the headphones Connect app, users can tweak EQ and bass settings to suit their individual tastes. This level of customization is a major plus for anyone who wants to get the most out of their music or other audio content.
Active noise cancellation is another standout feature of the Link Buds S. The chip is able to tune out environmental sounds with remarkable effectiveness, making it easy to immerse oneself in music, movies, or other content without distractions. Whether listening on a plane, in an office, or outdoors, the Link Buds S are up to the task.
Of course, no wireless earbuds would be complete without some way to control their operation. In this case, the touch controls on the Link Buds S allow users to switch between noise-canceling and transparency modes with ease. Simply press and hold a button to toggle between these modes, or tap to cycle through them. For added convenience, users can also set up location-based triggers to activate specific modes based on their surroundings.
The Link Buds S are also surprisingly effective for gaming. Sony has integrated the earbuds with Ingress Prime, an AR game from Niantic, which uses spatial audio to create a truly immersive experience. With sound AR enabled, users can pinpoint the source of sounds in the game, making it feel like they're actually inside the action.
In order to test the Link Buds S' gaming capabilities, we visited a landmark in our area and attempted to activate the "deploy" feature in Ingress Prime while wearing the earbuds. When activated, the sound from the resonator above the branch seemed to come from the right earpiece itself, which was an impressive effect.
After trying out the Link Buds S for ourselves, we're impressed by their performance and value. For anyone looking for a pair of active noise-canceling headphones with great sound quality, the Link Buds S are definitely worth considering – especially given their compact size and long battery life.

you know I'm a huge fan of Sony headphones I've covered professional studio grade ones like the cd900 STS right out of Japan to the 1000x mark fives that I keep in my travel kit so when Sony asked if I could do a sponsored video showcasing the link buds s it was a no-brainer when they came out in May of last year there wasn't a lot of Buzz about them here on YouTube probably overshadowed by the flagship 1000x Mark V that released at exactly the same time but don't let the lack of hype fool you these offer a healthy balance of basically everything for under 200 while I am unboxing this fresh pair for y'all right now I'm no stranger to these headphones not only have I been using another pair in Black for a few months we've actually taken a look at these on the Austin Evans channel for mystery Tech they're still my favorite headphones no seriously like out of all of the options out there for Bluetooth headphones he still dailies the link buds they're not good you actually have them in your pocket right now the Austin Evans pocket shot let's go blank buds s I do unboxing I feel bad I'm like tearing up this beautiful box which is also eco-friendly it does not use paper or no a neat little tidbit about the packaging is that it doesn't use any plastic which is obviously good for the environment this extends to the case and the headphones themselves it uses recycled plastic from cars which is really neat and they even have this blue colorway which is made with recycled water bottles so taking what might have say ended up in the ocean and using them for a better use also I just like the white colorway on these they look really clean especially compared to the Black version that I have and I think these will coordinate better with some of the outfits that I wear are you actually choosing earbuds based on if it matches your outfit hell yeah oh look at that packaging it's kind of like a little shelf and they have extra ear tips and a USB cable so pretty well sorted out the box a lot of the reason why we love these headphones so much is the size not only is it the smallest truly wireless earbuds Sony makes but is also one of the smallest out on the market period making them easy to carry around with you also it passes the pocket coin test which with flying colors as we saw with Austin's pocket not too long ago wait open up the case and the first thing you'll go for hours before feeling any sort of fatigue comfort's pretty high up on my priority list while Cross Shopping earbuds but there's also battery life and sound quality to consider and thankfully the link buds s tick all of the right boxes here as well you get 20 hours of combined listening with the batteries that are crammed into this tiny package that's six hours on the buds themselves plus 14 from the case and it'll charge quickly in a pinch giving you an hour of playback after only five minutes on the plug pretty neat but what people really want to know about is how it sounds and the link buds s do not disappoint at the core each earpiece has a surprisingly Punchy five millimeter driver as well as Sony's V1 chip managing everything from active noise cancellation to enhancements and Sound Processing the result out of the box is a smooth warm signature reminiscent of other Sony headphones tuned for all kinds of movies music and games that a lot of people will find pleasing but if you find that you want to customize things Sony offers a bit of flexibility with their headphones Connect app to tweak EQ and bass to your liking also key to sound quality is the active noise your surroundings the touch controls on the link buds s are your best friend they can be set to hear the outside world momentarily by holding a press or you can tap to cycle between transparency and noise canceling modes Plus for those that might want to automate this you can easily set up location-based triggers to for example set maximum noise cancellation for when you're at the gym and maybe transparency mode when you're in the office so you can hear your co-workers yell at you for days on end it might sound like a gimmick on paper but it actually works surprisingly well in addition to music and video the link buds s can also work well for gaming in fact Sony has integration built in with Ingress Prime which is an AR game from Niantic to have things like spatial audio to make the game really immersive so we're out here touching grass to experience this for ourselves so in the Sony headphones app you can actually enable sound AR for Ingress Prime if you go hit confirm which obviously I already have all the stuff enabled for it you can do measurements like a calibration by turning your head to just confirm that the headphones have the right orientation for movement and whatnot to actually track the audio and it also just links with the app as well so it is doing a lot in the background just make sure it works seamlessly and honestly I'm surprising it worked that well so we're gonna go to this Landmark over here it's supposed to do something in the game I've actually never tried this out before so we're going in hot to make things easier I'm screen recording on the phone so you could see exactly what I'm doing and obviously the sound won't be a hundred percent so I'll have to relay what I'm hearing through the headphones but take my word for it maybe close enough here to activate it so let's just hit the button oh we can hack deploy and charge Let's uh hack what does hacking do first hack of the day deploy deploys go deploy I don't know what I'm doing deploy I'm just gonna keep doing it it's actually really interesting whenever I'm doing this the deploying whatever that does if I turn my head all of the audio is happening over here so the spatial audio is working what's really interesting is that I'm facing this way and the thing that's called the resonator the little stop for wherever you have to go is actually up here above these branches and the audio is coming out of my right ear which is really sick now if we were actually walking around and going from resonator to resonator I think that would probably make the most of this experience but just as a simple little demo this is really neat overall the linkbuds S is one of my favorite pairs of active noise canceling headphones on the market I think they're worth it
