Asus Zenfone ZOOM with 3X optical Zoom Unboxing & Overview

**Unboxing and Overview: Asus ZenFone Zoom**

The Asus ZenFone Zoom is a unique device that combines a 5x optical zoom with a powerful processor, ample storage, and a high-quality camera. In this unboxing and overview, we will take a closer look at the device's features, specifications, and performance.

**Physical Unboxing and First Impressions**

The first thing we noticed about the ZenFone Zoom was its sleek design and compact size. The device comes with a lanyard that serves as a main microphone, but unfortunately, this feature is not functional on our unit. We also found two slots - one for the SIM card and the other for the microSD card - which are located at the back of the device. This camera module is where the 5x optical zoom comes into play.

**Camera Module**

The ZenFone Zoom features a dual-camera setup, with a rear-facing camera that boasts a 13-megapixel sensor and 3x optical zoom. The camera also has optical image stabilization, which helps to reduce camera shake and blur. Additionally, the device has dual LED flash, but unfortunately, it does not have a physical shutter button. Instead, we have a half-press-to-focus feature that allows us to adjust the focus before taking a photo.

**Performance and Specifications**

The ZenFone Zoom is powered by an Intel Atom processor with a quad-core configuration, paired with 4GB of RAM. The device has a 5.5-inch Full HD display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection and 128GB of storage. There is also a microSD card slot available for expansion. The GPU is the Power Via G64-3-0, which provides smooth performance and efficient graphics rendering.

**Operating System and Software**

The ZenFone Zoom runs on Android 5.0, with a custom UI known as SUSE Nui. Unfortunately, our unit was still running an older version of the operating system, but we were able to update it to the latest version during our testing. The device also comes with a range of pre-installed third-party apps and games, including Snapdeal, Ino, TrueCaller, News, and more.

**Uninstallation of Pre-Installed Apps**

One of the highlights of the ZenFone Zoom is its ability to uninstall pre-installed apps, which includes some of the free games and third-party apps. This feature is a welcome addition, as it allows users to customize their device without being bogged down by unnecessary software.

**UI Similarity to Regular ZenFone**

The UI of the ZenFone Zoom is very similar to that of regular Zenfone devices, which means that fans of the series will feel right at home. The performance and snappiness of the device are also expected to be similar to those of its predecessors.

**Testing the Camera**

One of the standout features of the ZenFone Zoom is its camera, particularly its 5x optical zoom. We put the camera through a series of tests, including low-light mode and touch-to-focus, which performed well. The device also has a range of camera modes available, including manual focus, macro mode, and more.

**Conclusion**

The Asus ZenFone Zoom is an interesting device that combines impressive features with a powerful performance. While the pre-installed apps may be a bit of a bloat, the ability to uninstall them is a welcome addition. The camera performance is also a highlight of the device, particularly its 5x optical zoom. If you're looking for a device with a unique feature set and a promise of great performance, the ZenFone Zoom is definitely worth considering.

**Storage and Available Space**

The ZenFone Zoom comes with 128GB of storage, but only 111GB is available due to software partitioning. This should provide ample space for users who don't plan on using their device for large files or media storage. The device also has a microSD card slot available for expansion.

**Battery Life and Performance**

The ZenFone Zoom features a 3000mAh battery, which should provide all-day usage with moderate to heavy use. We didn't have the opportunity to test the battery life extensively during our review, but we can expect it to perform well in real-world scenarios.

**Final Thoughts**

Overall, the Asus ZenFone Zoom is an impressive device that offers a unique combination of features and performance. While it may not be perfect, with some minor tweaks and improvements, it has the potential to become one of the best mid-range smartphones available today. We look forward to seeing how the device performs in real-world scenarios and providing an updated review once we have had more time to test it thoroughly.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enhi there this is raunchy that in this video we'll be doing the unboxing and have a first look at this Asus zenfone zoom smartphone and this is sort of a different smartphone the highlighting point is the camera and as you can see we have a lanyard over here so you can attach that to the camera that's a unique thing we don't see that often and this is the charger itself and we have a plug-in over here you can attach this and it's a fast charger supporting both 5 volts and 9 volts let me keep that thing to the side we also have earphones and these are in your earphones that we get blinded so that's a nice thing in my opinion and we also have some extra ear buds and this is the camera itself as you can see as this is smart phone in fact I'm calling it the camera so back then this let's take this out of this protective cover so from this angle it looks like a normal zenfone for example the internals are very similar to the A to Z phone to 4 gigabyte ram mortar and figure yeah we just have the USB to micro USB cable so let me keep these things to the side and let's look at the handset itself and regarding the pricing this variant as the 128 gigabyte variant and it sells in India for thirty eight thousand via flip card I find it silly that issues has just launched the 128 gigabyte variant in India app they could have easily launched the 32 gigabyte variant also they buy if they would have launched at the pricing would have been under 30,000 but as of now we have only the 128 gigabyte Veen that is being sold in India and this gives you that fake leather feel and the highlighting point about this device is the camera and it has 3x optical zoom hence you see this camera model it's really huge over here we also had what do you say a camera's weathered optical zoom earlier also for example Samsung made the Galaxy K zoom wit had the 10x optical zoom but in that the camera module had a big hump but this one as you can see does not have that big hump so let me give you a physical overview it sports a 5.5 inch screen that's a 1080p screen and on the top we have the 3.5 mm headphone jack a secondary noise cancellation microphone moving to this and we have the volume rockers which can also act as zoom for in the camera the power button we also have a dedicated button over here this is for video I guess and a dedicated camera shutter button moving to the bottom the indent to open the back cover micro USB slot main microphone for the lanyard if you use that and on this end nothing so let's open up the back and have a look at this one and it comes out and as you can see we have two slots one is for your SIM card and the other slot is for micro SD card so this is the camera module that we have moving to the front-facing camera it is supposed to be a 5 megapixel shooter so let me just put this back and let me just power it on for the first time by the time it boots and I set it up let me give you a configuration or view this zenfone zoom is powered by the Intel Atom processor which is a quad-core processor and it has 4 gigabytes of RAM moving to the screen it has a 5.5 inch 1080p screen with Gorilla Glass 4 protection it has 128 gigabytes of storage a micro SD card slot moving to the GPU it has the power via g64 3-0 GPU and move into the camera the rear facing camera is a 13 megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom and it also has optical image stabilization but dual LED flash moving to the front-facing camera it's a 5 megapixel shooter and the battery is a 3000 milliamp hour battery and I have just set this up so it runs a custom UI that is known as a SUSE Nui and it's already downloading some stuff as you can see it found an update but let's just look at the settings and if we go to about the device as you can see it's running on the Android version 5.0 so pretty old version of Android not even 5.1 I'll update you guys after the update effort changes and another thing that I've noticed is that these said touch type capacitive buttons again at the bottom are not backlit that's the issue with almost all the in phones that's the same with this one let's look at the storage because it has that massive storage and out of the 128 gigabytes at the available space that we get is 111 gigabytes and we can also add a microSD card so storage is one thing that won't be a issue on this device and let's just go back again as you can see it's doing a bunch of updates and looks like a lot of third-party apps are sort of pre-installed let's hit next okay so yes as you can see a lot of third-party apps are sort of pre-installed these are the Google Apps but you have some issue specific apps and yeah and some free games Ino trueCaller news and so there is a little bit of bloat where that is sort of pre-installed I will try to uninstall all those times for example as you can see this is the Snapdeal and we are able to uninstall that stuff so that's a nice thing so some load where you can uninstall and I mean that the UI is very similar if you use any zenfone that's the same with this one and again the performance will be very similar to the regular zenfone 2 which had that four gigabytes of RAM that means it will be really snappy and the performance should be good again let me update it let's look at the camera this is the main highlighting thing about this device so let's try to fire that up and okay say it's physical shutter button half press to get focus and when we didn't capture and we have the low light mode and we have the touch to focus also no thanks let's try some photos I'll use this physical button let me focus yes right meters focus let's try the zoom now as you can see I'm zooming with the volume button you can this is that the let me zoom in fully this is at 3x I took this shot let me just zoom out now completely like it would be on a normal device that's 1x so let's preview those images this is at 1x guys as you can see without any zoom and this was at 3x so as you can see quite a bit of difference it can zoom in quite a bit with this 3x zoom so that's the thing with this device as you can see and it also has optical image stabilization and if you go over here these are the modes so a lot of modes available again I have to test the camera because even on the zenfone 2 the camera performance was just okay ish so to be interesting to see how well the camera performs on this one so guys that's it for now for this unboxing and overview for this Asus zenfone zoom if you have any specific questions on this device do post them in the YouTube comments and I'll try to include them in my review thanks for watching this is Ranjit and I hope to see you in my next videohi there this is raunchy that in this video we'll
