**Driving with Oliver Solberg: A Thrilling Experience**
The thrill of driving with Oliver Solberg was an experience I will never forget. As a huge fan of rally racing, I had the privilege of jumping into the passenger seat of a car driven by one of my heroes. The car in question was a beast on wheels, and I was eager to see how it would perform on the track.
**The Brake Pad Smoking**
As we began our lap around the track, I couldn't help but notice that the brake pads were smoking heavily. This wasn't surprising, given the high speeds we were reaching and the fact that the car's tires were getting scorching hot by the end of each lap. "It's like when we were doing the braking test," Oliver explained to me as we accelerated out of the corner. "The brakes are so hot, they're constantly pulling you in." I could feel the force of the brake pads pushing against my chest, and it was exhilarating.
**Weight Management: The Key to Speed**
As we continued our lap, I realized that weight management was playing a crucial role in Oliver's driving style. "It's about keeping the rhythm," he said. "You can't just push the car too hard; you have to finesse it." By managing his weight and using the correct amount of throttle, Oliver was able to maintain traction and control even at high speeds.

We had been instructed to drive these cars until they were pushed to their limits, and I was grateful that we had done so safely.

we're going to finish up this video with Oliver showing me exactly how you should drive an enyak vrs around here I think it's going to be quite dramatic awesome welcome to the channel thank you well I didn't expect to be on the channel but man absolutely amazing I of a so B so you're going to show me the way around yeah then I'm going to get to practice Yeah and then you're going to drive me and show me where I'm going wrong yeah excellent if you do anything wrong maybe not I don't know so we can start with Sport and yeah get some sport mode on and then traction control off yeah so this is a standard vrs completely standard vrs but we were supposed to use a proper one yeah we're not allowed to say what happened to that one Let's uh say the this was the purpose car yeah exactly exactly so this is like a little this is a complete car test facility here right yeah a polygon for uh for scoda so we I tested some cars here before and then uh we make our own course then basically just to depending how we want to make it it's pretty cool so I did a ve one sighting lap yeah I'm not going to go right there no that will be a bad idea there was one guy who try that yeah but it's a pretty it's quite actually a little fun track you have a bit of Technical and chicanes and then you have a bit more flowing Corners as well go up there up there yeah and then this is a long left short LIF bit of an acceleration down to a hairpin right so it's important to get the exit here so you can go early on thrott to get that long straight speed down that's good we got no hand brake in this one unfortunately the brakes are pretty good you feel there's a lot of weight you have to move you know so these are 2.3 tons pretty much from The Briefing this morning yeah it's a lot of weight to hang around this is tight this is tight first lap the tires will be fine and the brakes will be fine but on the second lap the tires will overheat very quick when you push it long sweeping left to a flat short right all right and a medium left and a medium right long oh man having past notes called out for you that's epic medium left and like a short right yeah and then uh hairpin left then do we go around again yeah go for it I'll go with you open or open open open open so you use the speed with you oh yeah yeah so you Ed the extra speed to do this short Chaine tide left long tight right into a short left and then uh fast long left Pace notes by all of a sber himself short right short left I'm a bit late with P notes I've did I've done a tiny bit of driving in rally cars with past notes and it amazes me how you guys have the bandwidth to drive a car fast listen to the PACE notes yeah you're just the best drivers in Motorsport and I'm not just saying that cuz you sat next to me no I'm always said that I think rally drivers are I believe we are I don't want to be cocky or anything but I believe we are very good drivers you will you will have heard this I'm sure I had someone tell me once the difference between a rally driver and a Formula 1 driver well we've done Race of Champions a couple of years yeah yeah and me and my dad has won it now together every time yeah cuz your dad's a legend and uh the Formula 1 drivers have never beaten us but they say a not yet a Formula 1 driver takes one corner a thousand times yeah and a rally driver takes a th000 Corners once exactly exactly yeah I've never heard that one before you can you can have that one on me yeah thank you I'll start saying that now that's a good one do another left okay oh see out there no now I'm wi the nice with the electric torque is that you can get instant exit power so you with the weight you have to be a bit more careful on the entry yeah and then you can use the torque to rotate the car to get a better exit early yeah but it's always there isn't it as seem as you're at the Apex I've driven a few of cars on track before and uh it's a just a different technique right you yeah it's a different technique so here is been to break a bit early yeah turn in and then you accelerate earlier to get the torque with you out that was very good that was a good one I'll take that from you try that again here a little bit earlier I was late yeah a bit of like that not that that was bad overdriving overdrive because it's so much weight you have to get sto yeah that it's better to be a bit slower on Entry to use the torque you can out so here better to wait wait wait and go to get this fast left with you and then flat toward right this tightens a bit you can feel the tires start overheat they going they are they are mush he's in a good safe position there all right then I'll probably best drop you off before they start shouting it me do we go in there and go in here right I know how to do to drive a car now let me just talk you through this car it is a standard enyak vrs all electric um it's big downside it's 2.3 tons so you've got a lot of weight but even on this handling course that we've got here you can get on the power straight away there get all my braking done I've Got to Now learn from the master get on the power there so get all the braking done in a straight line so you're not trying to carry that mass through the corners on the brakes early probably a little bit too early get my slowing down done then I'm back then on the power it's pretty tight here pretty tight that everyone everyone's enjoying it because I'm getting some squeal over break myself there massively tires are going off now I've done what five laps tires are going off I'm getting hot what a thing what a thing so what we've also been doing while we've been here today with schod is some work on the wet breaking and handling on the kick plate just to really get a heads round this car sadly we should have been driving another car today but things didn't quite work out for us so we're just having some fun instead with this car this long all right I think I'm going to take her in for a cool down oh that's a lot of fun think we'll call the tires down now I love the smell of burning brakes in the morning so we are at basically shot's test facility that they use here in jaia now behind me I didn't film it because just the way it was done there's a kick plate there and then we did some wet weather braking at the top just to kind of put the cars through their paces and get a feel for them but we are literally using standard enyak we've got two here uh this is the one I was using on the brake test just um I mean I love that color from scoda anyway but now we're in vrss and we're on this little handling circuit I've done my laps I've got my eye in I got the car coming back with the brake well the brake pad smoking quite heavily and now it's time to have some fun with Ollie showing us how it's done markk properly putting that car through its Paces good to see good lad the thing is the the cars are so heavy by by the time you get to the end of a few laps the tires are very hot the brakes are very hot so you best to come in and just cool it down a little bit but yeah so very shortly I'll be jumping in the passenger seat with Oliver soberg whose dad Peta soberg was just a big rally hero of mine it's just incredible to meet him I'm so blessed in this job to kind of meet um such incredible drivers and just it's a privilege to be in the same car as them so let's
