The Audi A4: A Practical Car with a Touch of Luxury

When it comes to practical cars, few models come close to matching the Audi A4's reputation for being one of the most practical cars in its class. With its wide and comfortable interior, the A4 is perfect for fitting three people in the back without feeling cramped or claustrophobic. The car also features a low load lip and load height, making it easy to load and unload cargo. Additionally, the A4's 3-way folding rear seats are a standard feature, allowing passengers to easily access the trunk space.

One of the most impressive aspects of the A4 is its boot volume. While it may not be the largest in its class, Audi has managed to make better use of the available space than its rivals. The boot is square and well-designed, with a low load lip making it easy to pack and unpack. The opening is also large and easily accessible, even for those with mobility issues. Overall, the A4's practicality shines through in this area.

The Audi A4 is also incredibly aerodynamic, with a drag coefficient of just 0.23 CD. This makes it one of the most efficient cars in its class, and it's clear that Audi has put a lot of thought into reducing wind resistance. The car features high-speed Nvidia chips, which allow for advanced mapping capabilities, including Google Earth integration. Additionally, the A4's side mirrors are designed to reduce wind whistle, making the ride even more comfortable.

In terms of weight, the A4 is 120 kilograms lighter than its predecessor, and it's also up to 21% more efficient. This makes it an excellent choice for those who want a practical car that still has a sporty edge. However, not everything about the A4 is perfect. The glovebox is slightly small, making it difficult to carry certain types of cargo. Additionally, the S-tronic automatic gearbox can be a bit jerky at slow speeds, and lumbar support is only available on higher trim levels.

Despite these minor quirks, the Audi A4 is an incredibly comfortable car to drive. The adaptive dampers make for a smooth ride, even on rough roads, and the steering and brakes are both responsive and easy to use. Whether driving in town or on the highway, the A4 is a joy to navigate. One of the most impressive things about the A4's handling is its ability to balance comfort and performance. It's an excellent choice for those who want a car that's easy to drive but still has a sporty edge.

In terms of engines, the A4 offers a range of options to suit different driving styles and needs. The 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine is perfect for those who don't do many miles, offering great fuel economy and a smooth ride. However, for those who do a lot of mileage, the 2.0-liter diesel engine with 190 horsepower is the way to go. This engine provides plenty of power and good fuel economy, making it an excellent choice for long road trips.

Overall, the Audi A4 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a practical car that's also fun to drive. While it may not be perfect, its many strengths make it well worth considering. With its comfortable interior, impressive boot volume, and aerodynamic design, the A4 is sure to please even the most discerning drivers.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enthe new Audi a4 well it's I think it's the new Audi a4 we have to check the number plate to be sure because to be fair the the design hasn't changed all that much in 12 years for instance right here is this car there right that's the one before it and that's the one before it all very similar and yeah that's me after a heavy night out you know for that because on the inside the design is quite different than the old car so well it's lovely in here actually the design is very simple everything's easy to use and the quality it's exemplary now you've gotta be careful though none of the cars in the range come with full leather seats as standard which is a little bit bizarre and a car in this class how if they all do come with Bluetooth they come with digital radio you get parking sensors and xenon headlamps if you want to step up to the sport model because then you get sat-nav and it's a really good system I love a DS user interface with the infotainment system and you can watch our full review of it by clicking in the top right hand corner on the card to see a detailed review and front of the look around this cabin and you probably notice this one's actually got the widescreen display which is lovely I've also got what LD calls their virtual cockpit so now analog dials it's all digital and you can change the view through two different modes and even have full beautiful widescreen sat-nav there right in your eyeline another thing that out is done is try to improve the practicality so the door bins will take a 1.5 liter bottle of water and they also will here in the back which is quite unusual nowadays actually increased the size of the a4 ever so slightly over the old one and the numbers aren't that huge but you do feel the difference for instance I'm 5 foot 11 ish and well I've got lots of knee room plenty of headroom someone over 6 foot will be absolutely fine here in the back it's a little bit wider than before so it's less of a squeeze for three people and you can see exactly what I mean we tried to fit three people in the back of this car by clicking in the top right hand corner of the screen on the card but overall I'll say that this is the most practical car in the back than all its rivals and that brings us onto the boot now in terms of the actual boot volume well the capacity is pretty much identical to the Mercedes c-class and BMW 3-series but the Audi just seems to make better use of its available space so the boot is nice and square so you can really pack it full of stuff there's a low load lip and a low load height plus the openings nice and white suits it's not too difficult to load and unload it and there's some nice features as well such as these Currie hooks and tethering points and on the whole I think the a4 is the most practical car in its class the Audi also comes with 3-way folding rear seats as standard and that brings us on to the five other cool things about this car the Audi a4 is the most aerodynamic car in its class with a drag coefficient of just point 2/3 of a CD which case you're wondering is that much the car uses high-speed Nvidia chip so that you can actually use Google Earth by the internet for the mapping I give me the side mirrors from there to the top of the doors to reduce wind whistle see worked this huge vent emits a soft breeze which I like to call it air shower the car is up to 21% more efficient and 120 kilograms lighter than its predecessor but oh yeah stock whole bench press it however well that is blended alike about the a4 there are a few things which aren't so cool the glovebox is a little bit small that you can't carry a pack of standardized paper the s-tronic automatic gearbox can be a little bit jerky at slow speeds lumbar support doesn't come as standard on the bottom two trim levels the sport mode button can be a little bit fiddly to press when you're driving day four is a little bit boring so perfect for an accountant maybe that's why I like it but will I like it just as much when I hit the road now we all know that a front-wheel drive Audi a4 is never going to be as much fun to drive as a rear drive BMW 3-series but how often do you get to fully explore your cars handling you know everyday motoring this thing is almost perfect and it's just so supremely quiet it's also well so long as you avoid the sports suspension very very comfortable especially on the adaptive dampers I mean this thing isn't devoid of fun anyway it's actually alright handles very well and it's only really when you chug it into a very tight corner and then try and throw the Thrall as you exit the front tires go what you want me to accelerate and steer at the same time are you completely mad and anyway that's your thing why don't you just get one of the grippy all-wheel drive Quattro models overall this ID a4 is just so easy and relaxing to drive and Aldi just manages to judge the way of all the controls perfectly so the steering the brakes the Gish if they just feel nice to use and it's quite an easy car to drive in town as well because the visibility is very good there's no obvious blind spots to get in your way and you can see for yourself by clicking on the top right hand corner of the screen on the card in terms of engines well all about these engines are really impressive I'm going to keep it nice and simple for you if you don't do that many miles get the 1.4 liter turbo petrol if you do lots of miles get the 2-liter diesel in 190 horsepower guys which is what this car has the reason is that it's nice and sporty feels pretty quick and it actually gives really good economy so how do says it will do 67 miles per gallon and in my hands it's doing almost 54 actually alright for my hands okay then overall what I think of the IDI for well the design is a little bit bland and the options are quite expensive but it's a really relaxing car to drive and it's practical now if you click up there on
