i'm living alone... so let's read!

A Fun Young Adult Romance Revival: A Personal Reading Update

It's been a while since I've read a fun young adult romance, and I'm thrilled to say that I've finally broken out of my book rut. In January, I devoured several sad books, including "A Million Junes" and "All the Bright Places," which left me feeling melancholic. However, as we're approaching the midpoint of summer, I'm eager to shift gears towards lighter, more uplifting reads. My latest read, [book title], has been a delightful escape from the heavier fare that's dominated my reading list so far.

I finished reading [book title] in one day, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. The book follows the story of two main characters as they navigate their relationships and personal growth over the course of 24 hours. What I appreciated most about this read was its lighthearted tone, which perfectly captures the essence of summer. With its focus on a scavenger hunt and the excitement of senior year's final days, [book title] feels like an ideal summer read.

As I wrapped up my reading for the day, I couldn't help but think about how much I've enjoyed this particular book. While it may not be a complex or deeply nuanced story, its simplicity is actually part of its charm. The writing style is effortless and engaging, making it easy to become invested in the characters' lives. With its relatable themes and feel-good atmosphere, [book title] has won me over, earning it four stars on my reading scale.

The past two weeks have been a remarkable reading journey for me, filled with an array of books that catered to different tastes and moods. I started with "Funny Story," which left me feeling satisfied but not particularly memorable. The story's premise was engaging, but its execution didn't quite live up to my expectations. Next, I read "The Summer Will Be Different," a book that struggled to leave a lasting impression on me. In contrast, [book title] has been an absolute delight, showcasing the perfect blend of humor and heart.

As we approach the midpoint of summer, I'm eager to continue exploring new books and authors. With its lighthearted tone and feel-good atmosphere, [book title] feels like the perfect companion for these warmer months. The book's focus on relationships and personal growth also resonates with me at this time of year, as I reflect on my own life and goals.

As I conclude my reading update, I want to express my excitement about the upcoming sequel in the same series. With its unique concept and engaging writing style, I'm eager to dive back into the world created by [author's name]. The promise of exploring the characters' experiences at college is a tantalizing prospect, and I'm confident that this book will continue to captivate me with its blend of humor, heart, and relatable themes.

The past two weeks have also been a time of personal growth for me, as I've learned to navigate living alone. While it may seem intimidating at first, I've discovered that spending time by myself can be incredibly fulfilling. As I reflect on my experiences during this time, I'm reminded of the value of self-discovery and independence.

As we approach the end of [insert week/month], I want to take a moment to appreciate the joy of reading. Whether it's escaping into a fantasy world or immersing myself in a light-hearted romance, books have the power to transport me to new realms and evoke strong emotions. In a world where technology dominates our lives, there's something special about holding a physical book and getting lost in its pages.

My time living alone has come to an end, but I'm grateful for the experience. Meeting up with Danny at the end of this period was particularly special, as it marked a newfound appreciation for our relationship. Spending time together, exploring the city, and sharing laughs has been an absolute delight. As I prepare for my flight to New York City, I'm excited to continue reading and discovering new authors.

Upon arriving in New York City, I've indulged in some much-needed book shopping, which has been a delightful way to explore the city's literary scene. With its rich history of publishing and vibrant cultural landscape, New York is a mecca for book lovers like myself. As I wander through the city's iconic bookstores, I feel a sense of belonging, knowing that I'm surrounded by fellow enthusiasts who share my passion for reading.

My first read in New York has been "Ruthless Vows," which I've devoured on the plane while exploring the city. This fantasy novel has been an exciting departure from my usual fare, and I'm impressed by its unique premise, which delves into the world of gods. With its captivating writing style and engaging storyline, this book is sure to stay with me for a while.

As I conclude my New York City adventure, I want to express my gratitude for the incredible experience. From meeting up with Danny to indulging in some much-needed book shopping, every moment has been filled with joy and wonder. As I settle back into my reading routine, I'm excited to continue exploring new books and authors, eager to see what other delights this summer has in store for me.

In the coming days, I'll be reflecting on my reading journey so far, sharing thoughts and insights about the books that have captivated me. From light-hearted romances to fantasy novels, each book has left an indelible mark on my heart. As I move forward into the next phase of my reading adventure, I'm excited to see what's in store – and what new stories will capture my imagination.

"WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enI got sushi for dinner this is my most like treat myself dinner which is so exciting and I'm living alone it's not very long basically my boyfriend Danny is on a family trip right now and then right after his family trip he is going on a business trip to New York City so it's like just about 2 weeks I think which I know is not that long but it is I think the longest period of time will have ever lived alone in my life and I'm kind of excited for this video I used to hate like doing things on my own being alone and now I've come to like really love alone time and not only will I be living alone in my apartment for the first half of this video but then later in this video I'm actually going to New York also alone like I said my boyfriend will be there for business so I got my own hotel I'll be flying there alone I'll be completely alone in New York City for 2 days and then once he's done working and the weekend hits we're going to meet up and he's going to come stay with me at my hotel anyway I wanted to make this video because for the short periods of time that I have ever been home alone I always feel like I have so much time I get so much reading done cuz I don't really have anything else to do if I don't have plans with friends so I just thought this would be a great video to catalog how much reading can I get done living alone it's currently Thursday my boyfriend out of town Sunday morning so I've been alone for about 5 days on Sunday I filmed a 24-hour readathon and I read the reappearance of Rachel Price and this summer will be different and then on Monday I finished the 24-hour readathon by reading funny story and I started how to end a love story and then Tuesday and Wednesday I didn't do any reading my brain felt like mush after that 24-hour readathon so now I'm excited to get back to reading my brain has cleared but technically I've already read three books in this time alone it feels a little bit cheating since a 24-hour readathon is like not a normal thing I would do but we're going to count it anyways because it's fun to like already have books on the Home Alone book counter all right I'm going to eat dinner watch a show and then I'll get to finishing how to end a love story I've never l a candle on my bookshelf before I don't know if thought it's a bad idea or not oh well I've been in a big candle Vibe recently one of my favorite things that I've been loving doing while living alone and honestly that I love doing all the time is my skincare routine all the products that I'm using are from curology who has kindly sponsored this video the first step I'm doing tonight is using their cleanser to wash my face and I just love how every time I use my curology products my skin feels so soft and glowy and feeling good about my skin just gives me so much confidence it can be so hard to know what skincare products actually work versus what's just a trend and also just like where to begin with skincare so I really love that when you sign up for curology you can take their skin quiz and then you get a person ized formula from a licensed Dermatology provider and next up I'm going to be using the hydro Tre which is my custom formula the hydro Tre helps prevent tend of Aging that's one of the things that I put on my skin quiz that I wanted my custom formula to Target I also really really love how streamlined curology makes my skincare routine curology has gotten my skincare routine down to five products two of which are optional they're makeup remover and ChapStick and then the three essential that I use every single day is their cleanser and the hydr Tre and then I have been using their Moisturizer in the morning and you can start your curology journey today by going to my link which will be in the description I've been using curology I think for about a year now and just really really love them cannot recommend them enough hello it's Monday no oh my gosh I feel like I'm losing my mind it's Friday I have been struggling today honestly not with reading the book has been great I've been struggling with life literally nothing bad has happened I just like I didn't really think about like all the alone activities that I've been doing which are very fun but they all require sitting I've been like sitting and like reading like this or I've been like sitting in editing videos I've been like sitting and like watching TV on my iPad if in my next video I'm just like this nobody say anything I'll just be permanently like this after this week anyway I probably need to go outside I haven't left my apartment at all today and I think it's making me go stir crazy but so far on the book I'm on page 264 the book is great I had heard I feel like kind of mixed review about it so I kind of went in with like lowish expectations which is kind of nice I feel like every time that happens I'm always like pleasantly surprised how much I like a book because I really have zero or low expectations and I think I've been at like a 4.5 star rating the last like 100 Pages where we're at now it feels like it's getting more predictable so I might end up going down to like four stars but Loki the spice in this book is great I literally updated my Goodreads and it was like the is spicing anyway I'm going to make myself not speak to the camera again until I finish this book I ended up going for a walk and finishing how to end a love story on my walk I decided to start a new book I ended up picking part of your world and making some ravioli and green beans for dinner and deciding to read and have a little picnic felt like the perfect way to get some breing done and also get out of the house and it was so relaxing it is so hot outside I don't think I'm going to last super long but this is really nice happy Saturday last night I finished how to end a love story and I think I'm going to give it four stars I really liked it there was so much that was really unique about this book they start out in a situationship which I just don't read about like that often in Romance Books I say that as literally the next book I started also they're in a situationship they're also screenwriters who work together and that was really unique and I think the author also did a great job exploring grief and two characters who had a very complicated past the only reason I wouldn't say hir in four stars is I feel like the end dragged a little bit for me like it could have moved a little faster but other than that it was great and I can now put it on my Reds section for May all the books with the pages facing you I have read That's 1 2 3 4 5 six seven books in May so far these three books plus party of your world are still on my M TBR just to show you how much I'm loving it I'm already on page 180 and I started it last night it's so cute and it's so fun but also has depth to it I've owned this book I think for for over a year now and the reason why I've been kind of hesitant to pick it up is just that the synopsis on the back felt so vague to me so it just didn't really like excite me or call to me but now that I am reading it I get what it's about it really reminds me of It Happened One Summer which I love that book we've got like the bearded small town guy and then like the Posh wealthy City girl so like that's a really fun Dynamic but she is also going through a really nasty breakup with an abusive ex so like that element adds a lot of depth to it so so far I just really like that I think it's a perfect balance of really fun but still has a lot of like heart to it I'm gonna set a 1H hour timer read for an hour and then we'll get to Saturdays to-do list of one there's there's just one thing on on the to-do list okay 1 hour starting now oh my gosh our main character Alexis her family and her friends and her ex they're all so horrible all the rich people in her life they suck they're so mean to her and I just feel so bad for her because she's so sweet and she deserves so much better than these people who were in her life and I cannot imagine putting up with all of the comments that she gets about so many aspects of her life before it was fun that they come from such different worlds but now I feel like it's going to break my heart because how can their world fit together like she has a whole job and a life where she lives in the city and he has an entire life and community in his small town and like how are they going to make it work I don't know it has officially been 1 hour and I read page 222 I think I started on page 180 so that's 42 pages in the last hour that's pretty good honestly when a book is good I fly through it so fast okay now on to operation Saturday the one thing on my to-do list today is to take my on a little date doing a little picnic as your day was so fun and I want to take it a little step further and like fully get out of the house and go somewhere by myself I feel like I just don't really do things alone often because I can always ask a friend or my boyfriend to go with me but there's something that feels I don't know very like freeing about doing something alone you can just do it whenever you want on your own schedule and spending time with yourself is nice I just got movie tickets for not tickets singular I just got a movie ticket for I saw the TV CL at 8:00 tonight I just got out of the movie I did try and record like a clip inside the theater for this video and my flash was on and it was so embarrassing but other than that it was great it was so fun definitely was not weird at all to go by myself Sunday was officially the one we Mark of living alone and looking back on my week my favorite parts were having that picnic in the park and seeing a movie by myself which made me realize that I think the key for me living alone is spending quality time with myself but also getting out and keeping busy so I think I really applied those lessons perfectly on Sunday I hung out with and saw a movie with friends I finished reading part of your world and then I went out and bought a puzzle and spent my evening binge watching the new Bridgerton season and puzzling and I love that we get Penelope story this season in Bridgeton good morning it is Tuesday and I finished Part of Your World on Sunday on Monday I didn't do any reading for my Part of Your World review I think I'm going to say five stars this is my first AB himis book and I loved it I like it makes me so excited to read new Authors because and I'm like wait if I love it there's so many books by them that I could read it's a small toown romance and I love the like found family feel you get most of the time with small toown romances and then I also really really really liked the conflict I feel like the conflict in this book was so realistic that just makes it that much more heartbreaking and in this book I had no idea how they were going to resolve the conflict which I feel like has been rare for me lately like I've read just so many romance books that a lot of times I feel like I can kind of see where the plot's going which is totally fine like I will read the same plot over and over and over like I just love romance but this one I was just on the edge of my seat because I was like how could they possibly resolve this like what is going to happen how are they going to make it work and then today I have woken up today and kind of chosen chaos I have decided to try and read one book in one day today and that book is today tonight tomorrow by Rachel Lyn Solomon this is a young adult book I did not know that she wrote young adult books I've only read the ex talk by her I gave that book three stars I feel like when people give a book three stars everyone kind of has like different reasonings for me it either means there's probably like one or two big things I didn't like about the book or I had no complaints with the book it was just more of like a lighter fluffy romance and that's how I felt about the ex talk so I'm really curious to read another Rachel and Solon cuz that's the only one I've ever read by her I just got to page 50 look at my cute little bookmark it's really cute it's fun because the entire book takes place in 24 hours we start at 5:54 a.m. so it's like really satisfying for some reason to me to see like every chapter the time Jump just a little bit and it's cool to follow a character through like one single day I don't know that's just like such a unique concept and I'm excited about the concept I'm a little bit nervous of just like can you really have like character growth and like an entire romance take place in that time period but also there is a sequel to the book so I bet like more of their romance is also told in this book and the two main characters do have quite a history they've known each other for a long time so that definitely helps and the one day that this book takes place on is the last day of senior year which is also just like a fun time like I remember my last day of senior year in high school and it's like so exciting but nerve-wracking your life after that is going to be so different so I I think just reading about all those emotions is interesting also I didn't really mention the plot of the book but like I said it's their last day of senior year and on this day they're doing this like scavenger hunt with a whole senior class which is so fun our two main characters are Rivals to lovers which I feel like is such an underdone Trope like there are so much enemies to lovers books and I love enemies to lovers but specifically academic Rivals to lovers I feel like I rarely read about and it's such a great Trope it is 12:40 and I just hit page 100 I feel like I'm totally on track to finish this book in one day it is 430 and I'm on page 220 I'm really liking it I feel like I was kind of skeptical skeptical and excited but but skeptical about the like can you do a book that only takes place in 24 hours and I'm like pleasantly surprised how well it's working for me the characters have definitely kind of changed a bit how they feel about each other and have had character growth oh hi Luka even though we're only like 14 hours into their day together and this has CAU me thinking like I should read more young adult like ya books are so cute I was looking at like all the books that I've read so far this year on Goodreads and I have read like a decent amount of young adult books this year but a lot of them have been sad like a million Junes and all the bright places and it's been a while I think since January since I read like a fun young adult romance so I'm like oh my gosh I need to put more on my TBR because I'm just having like the best time like this has been a really fun like adorable read hello it is Wednesday I did finish reading today tonight tomorrow last night so I read the whole book in one day and today I have not done any reading I really really like this book I think I'm going to say four stars just because it is like a light cute fun Ro I also feel like this is a very perfect summer read because it's the characters last day of their senior year which is kind of like the beginning of Summer and then they're doing this scavenger hunt the books I've read in the last two weeks have included funny story and the summer will be different and then now this book and like three summer e books in the last two weeks has been so so nice and my concluding thoughts on the entire book taking place in 24 hours overall I think it's such a fun concept I feel like that concept kept me really engaged it is like a little unrealistic how much their relationship changes in 24 hours but it's just like a fun book and then I do really want to read the sequel where they go to college past present future at some point soon and then tomorrow I go to New York I'm so excited I feel like it's been an interesting time living alone just thinking back on all the different alone activities I think doing anything for the first time alone for me it feels intimidating but then once I've done something alone one time and it goes well which majority of the time it does go well it's not as big a deal as my brain makes it out to be then it's so easy to do for a second time alone I'm like oh I've got this anyway it is 10:00 p.m. I have to wake up in 7 hours for my flight tomorrow so I should probably go to bed so I'm going to stay good night here but I'm really really excited to go to New York City do a bunch of book shopping and hopefully some reading on the plane okay good night it's New York time woohoo it is 5: in the morning and I'm so tired but I'm excited for today on the plane I started reading ruthless vows it made me so happy to be back in this world I love Iris and Roman so much and Rebecca Ross has such a beautiful writing style it feels so like slow and emotional and vulnerable but still very captivating and fast-paced somehow at the same time and I know we ending Divine rivals on quite a cliffhanger so I was very intrigued to start this book and then I landed in New York I did a ton of book shopping the next YouTube video I post should be a New York book shopping video it was such a perfect alone activity and was cool to explore the city through all of their bookstores I'm in New York City wo I have had a great day so far today I went to a few book stores which is really fun and on my way back I popped into this Bakery they had cookie croissants I've been seeing these on Tik Tok and really wanting to try them this one is a Snicker doodle and a croissant that's super good anyway good first day New York I started ruthless vows on the plane and I was listening to the audio book while I was walking around did not get very far I feel like I've been a little brain dead today because I got up so early but I'm happy that I started this book it's been a while since I've read a fantasy I think so it's been nice to be like back in this world and this book is really cool because it deals with gods and I just feel like I don't often read about fictional gods in a fantasy book and there's a lot about this book that I feel like is quite unique with that I think I'm going to go to bed because I am so tired good night and then the next morning I set out to do even more book shopping for my New York book shopping video and Danny ended up getting done working pretty early on Friday which was so nice so we got to meet up have lunch together spend the day sightseing and that concludes my almost 2 weeks living alone I ended up reading six books total while home alone and I feel like I had such a great time just spending time with myself and it made meeting up with Dany at the end of that time alone even more special all right that's the end of this video I'll see you guys next week for New York book shopping\n"
