iOS 13.5.5 Beta 1 Released - What's New

The iOS 13.5.1 Update: A Closer Look at Performance and Battery Life

As an early adopter, I had the opportunity to dive into the latest beta update for iOS 13.5.1 on my iPhone 11 Pro. After installing the update, I noticed a significant improvement in performance compared to its predecessor, iOS 13.5. The background seems smoother, and overall, it feels less laggy than before. This is particularly noticeable when switching between dark mode and normal mode.

Multitasking, another area of concern for me, also shows improvements over the previous beta update. It's possible that this could be a placebo effect, but I genuinely believe that there is a noticeable difference in terms of smoothness. As always, it's essential to note that these are just my observations and may not reflect your experience.

The Geekbench scores, however, tell a different story. In single-core performance, 13.5.1 holds its own against 13.5, with a slight edge at 34 vs 33. But in multi-core performance, 13.5.5 takes the lead, scoring 35.22 versus 34.78. It's worth noting that this represents a significant improvement over the previous beta and suggests that Apple has made substantial strides in optimizing the operating system for better performance.

The top of the Geekbench list shows that even with the improvements in multi-core performance, there is still room for growth. In fact, no device on our test device achieved scores above 35.5%. This highlights the potential for further enhancements as this update moves from beta to public release.

One area where I wouldn't expect significant changes is battery life. As a user who relies heavily on their iPhone's battery life, I've come to expect that future updates won't bring major improvements in terms of endurance. The performance and feature enhancements seem to be the primary focus here.

Despite this, it will be interesting to monitor how iOS 13.5.1 performs over time. As a developer beta test, 13.5.1 has already received attention from those who want to experience the latest features before they are available to everyone. The fact that I would recommend updating to this version, especially for developers looking to get their hands on the latest update, highlights its stability.

However, it's also worth noting that early betas can sometimes be buggy or contain issues that may not have been thoroughly tested yet. As such, if you're someone who prefers to wait until beta 2 before updating, I would advise exercising caution. Based on my experience so far, though, the improvements seem too significant to ignore.

In conclusion, iOS 13.5.1 represents a solid step forward for Apple's operating system. With its improved performance and enhanced multitasking capabilities, it's clear that the company is committed to refining the user experience. While further refinements are possible, the initial beta test has already shown considerable potential.

As always, I would appreciate feedback from my audience regarding any new features or improvements discovered in iOS 13.5.1. "WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enwhat's up guys my name is Brandon and in addition to iOS 13.5 point one apple also released iOS 13 point 5 point 5 beta one for registered developers today so of course in this video we're gonna be covering what's new in this update the performance the battery life bugs and more so I had a lot of people earlier asking why they did not get the iOS 13 point five point one update and the reason for that was because they had the developer profile installed and now we know why Apple didn't push the update out to those who had to develop a profile installed and that's because they were planning on releasing iOS thirteen point five point five later today as well and of course that's where we're covering in this video but anyways you can see the size of this update of course it was a big update going from a public release to a beta or a beta to a public release it's always going to be a big sized update so it came in just over four gigabytes on my iPhone 11 pro here and like I mentioned it will be big across the board no matter what device you install it on so if we go to our settings and check out the bill number two about thirty two point five point five you can see here the long build number it's 17 G five zero three five D so we do have ad at the end of the build number there which does indicate we are definitely going to be getting multiple betas of thirteen point five point five as expected and apples doing exactly what they did with iOS thirteen point four point five because as you guys remember they released iOS thirteen point four thirteen point four point one and then jump to thirteen point four point five which wound up being iOS thirteen point five so looks like Apple is kind of doing the same thing here with iOS 13 point five point five but we will see as time goes on but anyways taking a look at the modem firmware you can see that is unchanged in this update it's still one point zero six point zero zero for the iPhone 11 series so now what's actually changed in iOS 13 point five point five beta one and to be honest I'd look through every single settings page I look through every single toggle I read all the text in the settings everything on thirteen point five point one and compared it to thirteen point five point five and I did not find a single difference so my assumption is the Apple released iOS 13 point five point five beta one number one to patch the uncovered jailbreak just like they did with I thirteen point five point one which was released earlier today and number two Apple probably released this to fix up some bug so it's still too early to tell which bugs have actually been fixed but I would assume there are probably quite a few bugs that have been fixed here in thirteen point five point five because I don't know why else Apple would release this unless there were actual bug fixes so while there's not going to be any physical changes like nothing you can see no new settings then do you know verbage and the settings nothing like that it could be a little bit more smooth than iOS thirteen point five point one for example going into dark mode and out of dark mode the background seems to not be as you know laggy and not as less smooth I guess it's more smooth here on thirteen point five point five than it is at thirteen point five point one I also noticed the same with multitasking it could be placebo but it does feel a little bit smoother overall then thirteen point five or thirteen point five point one and that does also somewhat reflect in the Geekbench score so as far as performance goes here in thirteen point five point five compared to thirteen point five point one take a look at the top that is iOS thirteen point five point five beta one thirteen point five point one is directly below that so 13 34 versus thirteen 33 so slightly higher in single core but take a look at the multi-core multi-core is greatly improved here in thirteen point five point five compared to thirteen point five point one so we have thirty five 22 versus 3478 and take a look all down the list nothing got to thirty five hundred in this entire list so nothing on iOS 13 that I have on this device at least on the 11pro which is what I used for pretty much every update you can see this scored the highest and multi-core of any of those by a pretty nice margin so you could definitely see some performance improvements here in thirteen point five point five and this is just the first beta so it could even get better you know it could even be faster when this actually gets released to the public so that is a very good sign you could see some performance improvements here in this update even as early as beta one now as far as battery life that's an area where I probably would not expect a major upgrade in terms of you know getting better battery life better on screen and off screen time I would not expect a major difference at all coming from thirteen point five or thirteen point five point one so yeah like I said thirteen point five point five beta one is looking like it's only bug fixes and a slight bump to the performance but of course if I do find anything else as time goes on and we'll be using this throughout the week if I do find anything else new you know enough to make a video I will make a follow-up video either this coming weekend or next week and I will mention it in the beta 2 video which I would assume we're probably going to be on either at one week or a two week cycle so we should see beta 2 either next week next Monday on the 8th or the following Monday on at the 15th so now should you update to iOS 13 point 5 point 5 beta 1 and I usually recommend against updating 2 first betas so instinctively I say no but at the same time this is a point 5 point 5 update so it's likely not going to be very buggy at all even on the first beta seed so it's probably going to be a lot more stable than you know previous beta so I would say that if you're a developer and you want to update and be on the latest version go ahead and update to 13 point 5 point 5 beta one it's probably not going to harm your device and it could be faster and patch up some bugs you were having on thirteen point five or thirteen point five point one but like I mentioned if I do find anything else new in thirteen point five point five beta one I will make another video to let you know or I may just include it in the beta 2 video whenever that comes out but if you guys find anything else new in thirteen point five point five let me know down in the comment below you guys know I read all comments and I reply to a good majority of the comments down there so let me know I'm all ears to see if you guys find anything new in this update but yeah guys that's pretty much it for iOS 13 point five point five beta one we got thirteen point five point one today got a new watch OS update got a new TV OS update and then of course we do get a new beta for developers I would expect this to be out to public beta testers pretty soon and we'll update the description when it is out to you public beta testers so that's pretty much it for this update I hope you guys did enjoy this video if you did I would appreciate it if you give this video a thumbs up make sure to subscribe also if you are looking forward to thirteen point five point five beta two and of course the upcoming iOS 14 betas which should start on June 22nd and I will be making of course a ton of videos on iOS 14 as you guys are probably already preparing for put it anyways guys thanks again for watching and I'll see you soon youwhat's up guys my name is Brandon and in addition to iOS 13.5 point one apple also released iOS 13 point 5 point 5 beta one for
