and Intelfor sponsoring this videoand sending out this verylarge, mysterious box.We havethe laptop!2023 is a uniquely greattime to buy a gaming laptop. The stars have aligned, my friends, because what we've seen here is an upgradethat rarely happens at the same time.Traditionally, if you'rebuying a gaming laptop, you're gonna see a new model come out,and it's gonna have a new CPU,or a new screen, or a new GPU.But very rarely do allof those things happen at the same time. And that is exactly what we have herewith the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i,not only the brand new 13thGen Intel Core processorsbut also the brand new NvidiaRTX 40 series graphics. When you consider the CPUperformance of this systemand you consider the factthat you can go all the way upto an RTX 4090, you'vegot a ton of performanceand a package which youcan thankfully assumewon't be immediately out of datewhen something new comesout in three months. You go, "Ah, I should have waited!"You don't have to wait. Now, this is part of the Legion Pro serieswhich includes not only this Pro 7ithat I have to take a look atbut also the Legion Pro 5i,which is very much meant to give youthat high performance juston a slightly lower budget. So let's start by talking aboutthese new Intel processors. So the system I have behind me hasan Intel Core i9 13900 HXwith a whopping 24 CPU cores. Thanks to things likeIntel's Thread Director meansof course, with thatmany cores, you're goingto have some excellentmultitasking performance. But on top of that, you also have a tonof performance for gaming. So with tech such asIntel's Thread Directorwhich essentially allows Windowsto accurately scheduleprograms and services basedon what kind of cores you've got, right? So you've got those efficiency coreswhich are going to helpyou with battery life, they're gonna be muchmore energy efficient, but we need the absolutemaximum performance.Thread Director will then say, "Oh, hey,"let's schedule this onto the big cores,"which is certainly gonna have a hitto like your battery life, for example. But if you're gaming or you'redoing super intense tasksyou want every bit ofperformance you can get.And as you'll see in the gaming demo herein a minute, the amount ofperformance you're getting outof the laptop whichactually fits in your baghas been tremendously improved. Not that long ago, we wereusing Quad Core laptopsand GPUs that were like, I don't knowhalf as powerful as theirdesktop counterparts. Now, with some of thestuff that specificallythe Lenovo have donewith this Legion Pro 7i,you get so much more performanceto the point where you could arguably saythis could replace your desktop.Part of the reason that you do getso much extra performance arethrough features suchas Lenovo's AI Engine+.Now, the way this worksis really interesting. Not only is it leveraging softwarewhich is what the olderversion of this did,but it also has thededicated LA1 chip built in.Now you may hear the words AI and think,"Oh, my laptop needs AI, too,got it," but it actually isa little bit more cleverthan you might expect. So there are two aspects of this, one of which is understandingwhat the laptop is doing right now.So traditionally, you'vegot yourself a CPUand you've got yourself a GPU.Each of these have theirown dedicated power budgets,so maybe 45 watts for your CPUand 125 watts for yourGPU, at least in the past. Now, that was fine, thatwas great, but the thing isa lotta times, you actuallydidn't need the maxon either at the same time, right? So say I maybe have thecooling for 200 wattsbut my GPU's taking it all upand my CPU's just sittingaround doing nothingfor specific games.Well, in those scenarios, you areactually leaving performance on the tablewhile still having yoursystem running really hotand really loud, et cetera, et cetera. Now with the Lenovo AI Engine+what you're getting here issomething which is constantlytrying to learn the gamesthat you're playing andadjusting your settingscompletely independent ofanything you're seeing, right? So it's not actually likechanging the settings of the gameit's changing the actual power budgetsof your individual chips. This is really coolbecause to you as a useryou don't have to do anything. It is constantly runningin the background. And while it does not work for all gamesthis smart engine that is built insidehas a ton of potential. Now all the 13th gen Intel CPUsand the RTX 40 series graphicshave a lot of performance, they also do need a lot of coolingwhich is part of thereason why Lenovo broughtout their ColdFront 5.0 tech. There's a few things involved hereincluding an optionalvapor chamber, as wellas super thin fan blade that areup to or down to 0.1 millimeters.Wait, how thin is a piece of paper?- So a regularcoffee paper rangesfrom .05 to .1 millimeters.- So there you go.These fan blades are as thin as paperexcept that they have a whole lot of themand they're not gonnabe as floppy as paper.Actually, that's kind ofinteresting to think about.Sorry, I was just gettinga wild tangent here. The thing is, having goodcooling is incredibly important. And again, we're pushing175 watts on the TDPon this laptop, while alsostill preserving the rear ports. So last year I made a video discussingwhy I personally think that gaming laptopshave gotten good enoughto replace desktopsfor a lot of people. And the big reason for that isjust how portable this performance is.What you're getting hereis not only it comeswith a slimmer charger, so it's gallium, but also on top of that, you've gotan absolutely massive battery inside,99.99 watt hours, AKA,the largest legal batteryyou could possibly takewith you onto an airplane. In addition to the brickthat it comes with as is,you also can take advantageof USB-C charging. In fact, you can go allthe way up to 140 watts.Good luck finding a140 watt USB-C charger, but it will take that or obviouslyit'll take like, 100 wattor 65 watt charger for more regular use.And you also haveyourself the AI light syncwhich, as you can see behindme, will mirror your displayif you'd like, which isdefinitely my favorite mode.Look, my keyboard matches my screen. You've also got the TrueStrike keyboardwhich not only has 1.5millimeters of key travelbut it also does have the fullper R key RGB, per key RGP.Per key RGB,per key, (beep)But that also will pair withthe RGB that is all built allaround the rest of the systemwhich means that it actuallycan look pretty niftyif you want to tinker.Look, that's a whole lot of spec talk. Why don't we actually play some gamesand see what the latestand greatest really can do.Starting out, we haveMicrosoft Flight Simulator.Oh, this is the, oh, oh,we're just doing it now.Oh, I didn't realize Iwas already taxied out.Okay, well, let's see if a 747can take off at John Wayne. We're flying. So the Tobii Horizon techwhich is built into thislaptop, essentially meansthat for certain supportedgames such as Flight SimulatorI don't have to actually usemy controls to look round.I can look right, I canlook left, up, down. It's a really cool bit of tech.- Try tilting your head.- What the, oh, I didn'trealize it did tilt.- It's gotyaw, pitch, and roll.- Pitch and yaw.The fact that you're gettingthis level of graphicsin a laptop is really impressive.Does anyone think they'regonna make it to the airport?I don't think I'm gonnamake it to the airport.- I'm noteven convinced you're flyingin the right direction.- Oh, god, oh, god.Wait, wait, wait.Okay, we're just gonna makean aggressive turn here. We're just gonna shave off a few minutes. We're running a little bit late here.Oh, okay, but that wasnot what I meant to do.- Hey, uh,I think you crashed.- Uh-oh!Moving on.Next up, we have Forza Horizon5, which is actually includedwith the three monthsof free Xbox Game Pass, which comes with the Legion. So performance is one thingbut the screen qualityis an entirely other areathat laptops have come a longway the last couple of years. This has a 2560 by 1600 displaywhich can run up to 240 hertzwhich especially with the4080 inside is importantbecause you really wannabe able to take advantageof all of the performance thatyour laptop is capable of.Now, we do have a display hereand I'm gonna play onthat in just a second. But honestly, if you'repushing anywhere closeto 240 frames per second ingames, it's very difficultto really find the needfor an external display.Unlike a lot of older gaming laptopswhere the displays were just kind of okay, this is terrific, this is incredibly good. All right, let's go, let's go, let's go.Oh, I'm not gonna make it.I'm not gonna make it.I'm not gonna make it.Ah.Okay, I'm not gonna gothrough the whole songand dance about why youdon't need a desktop. If you really want a desktop,by all means go for it.Obviously, there arestill advantages there. But when you consider justwhat you're able to getout of a fully portable laptopit makes me really second guess things. It really does.Look, this is so impressive.Next up, we've got "Halo Infinite".And for this, I'm actuallygonna be using the display. So this is the Lenovo Legion Y27-QF-30.And what I'm getting hereis a 27-inch 1440p displaythat can run all the way up to 250 hertz.Normally, you would needa very powerful gamingcomputer to do this. However, I'm actually getting pretty solidframe rates directly on the laptop. You've also got an HDMI 2.1port built into the laptopwhich does mean a bigdifference if you're goingto be playing at higher framerates, higher resolutions. You don't really have toworry about it too much. And wow, I am...These bots are really bad.If I'm killing you, you knowthat you're not very good at this. This is such a rare momentwhere you have the new techacross the board betweenCPUs, GPUs, the hardware. This Legion has so much going for itthat I would highlyrecommend you to check it outat the link in the description. And of course, huge thankyou to both Lenovo Legionas well as Intel forsponsoring this video.I'm going to go beat the bots again,so I feel better about my gaming prowess.Because as we all know it's one thingto have great hardware, it's another thingto actually be good at gaming.I have half of those things.
