Favorites to Revisit _ Top 5 Wednesday

Revisiting Old Favorites: A Personal Perspective

I'm someone who thinks about revisiting old favorites often, but doesn't necessarily do it often. I wasn't always this way, though - when I was growing up, I would reread the same series over and over again. The Lena Blake series was a particular favorite of mine, and I remember loving Harry Potter as well. However, my reading habits have changed over time, and I tend to focus on other forms of media. I'm not really into video games, but I do enjoy rewatching TV shows like Grey's Anatomy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Dawson's Creek - these comfort shows never get old for me.

That being said, one of my closest friends is someone who does revisit her favorite books all the time. Her name is Mattie Nez, and she's a booktuber and an avid reader. She loves talking about the media that means so much to her, and it's inspired me to think more about revisiting old favorites myself. In fact, I've come up with a list of five books that I'd like to revisit in the near future.

First on my list is The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. This book holds a special place in my heart - it's one of my all-time favorite novels, and I feel like revisiting it would be a great way to recharge. I've already listened to it on audiobook once, but I'd love to go back to physical copies for a bit of nostalgia. One of the things that draws me back to this book is its magical realism - there's always something new to discover, even after multiple readings.

Another favorite that I want to revisit is Uprooted by Naomi Novik. This is particularly timely, as I'm currently reading Spinning Silver and it's making me miss my characters from uprooted. I love Naomi Novik's writing style, and her stories are always so compelling. I've enjoyed all of her books in the past, but there's something about Uprooted that really drew me in.

Classics like The Abhorsen Trilogy by Garth Nix will also make an appearance on my list. While I haven't revisited these series since I was in high school, they hold a special place in my heart - and I feel like they've shaped many of the dark, twisty aesthetics that I enjoy today. My favorite character from this series is Several, who I just can't get enough of. I'm curious to see how my opinions on these books have changed over time, now that I'm older.

Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse is another beloved series of mine - and I've been thinking a lot about revisiting The Lives of Saints trilogy in the coming weeks. As part of Sarah Jane and i's efforts to raise funds for book-related causes, we started re-reading Christian books together, which ultimately led to our friendship. This experience has sparked my desire to revisit these series again, as I'm sure many readers will agree that revisiting old favorites is a great way to connect with others.

Last but not least, there's Sorrow & Spine by Leslye Walton, which is one of those standalone novels that feels manageable and motivating at this point in my life. I've loved this book since the first time I read it, and I'm excited to revisit it again - especially as a grandmother. This novel has something special about it, though - it's a generational story that spans multiple characters and their connections with each other. I'm looking forward to exploring these stories further and discovering new things about this book.

I'd love to hear from you: what are some of your favorite books or series that you want to revisit soon?

week's topic is favorites that we would like to revisit so things we'd like to reread or rewatch or however you want to take it this is just about revisiting favorites this is something I think about often but not something that I do often I'm not a really big reader I used to be when I was growing up I would just reread like the same series it'd be Lena Blake series I know a lot of people used to reread Harry Potter a lot I really don't tend to do that I don't tend to read play video games much either the only thing that breaks that trend is Mass Effect and Dragon Age otherwise I really don't I do tend to rewatch TV for example like Grey's Anatomy Buffy the Vampire Slayer Dawson's Creek some of those comfort things but for the most part I don't tend to engage in this way but it isn't it I think about a lot because one of my best friends on booktube and in real life is money from my name is Mattie Nez and she does this constantly she is always revisiting her favorite media over and over again and she almost like talks me into it by talking about her own experience with it but it's just very polar opposite of what I tend to do but these are five books that I actively do want to revisit so the first one is one that you probably knew would been this list and what I've actually already revisited before and that is the Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern I read this in physical copy I have since listened to it on audiobook and I plan on doing that kind of is like a recharge because it is my favorite book of all time and I just plan on doing that every once in a while to kind of like pep up my step a little bit and it's a book that you will just discover new things about the more that you read or listen or whatever so it's something that I just don't feel like would ever get old for me number four is uprooted by Naomi Novik and this is very timely because I'm currently as I'm filming this reading spinning silver and it just makes me want to reread uprooted again I just love that brood I love her stories I love everything about what she does and it just makes me miss my characters from uprooted I'm enjoying that book as well but like I just I miss them number three is kind of a classic favor for me and that is the abhorson trilogy by Garth Nix now I've since reread the first book in the series which is salve Riel and so I've read that twice now but I actually never continued with the series first read the series my favorite one was several and I actually missed her so I need to go back and read Li real and of course and see how I feel now and now this series actually kind of continuing so I'm curious to get into those books but I haven't reread these since I was probably like a sophomore in high school and I feel like they very much shaped things that I like my my dark twisty aesthetic love I feel like comes from this so I want to react number two is actually happening very soon and that is the curse of trilogy by Leigh bardugo as part of Sarah Jane and i's efforts to get searching here for book net Fest which actually ended up happening yay we had a GoFundMe campaign and one of the perks was to get an annotated book that was an tainted by both of us of the Christian books so we wanted to reread them anyway that is where we started our friendship was reading the Christian books and so I'm going to read them and revisit them I'm going be doing that very soon but I've been thinking about this a lot since it's been you know almost three years since I first read this series and it still holds such a special place in my heart and I really want to revisit them because um my kids and number one is the strange and beautiful Sorrows that Ava lavender by Leslye Walton I think one of the reasons this is number one is because it is just a standalone and it feels much more motivating and manageable at this point but this is a magical realism fabulous story and I love and adore and it is one of those books tell it the Night Circus where I feel like you can reread it and learn even more it's a generational story so if I was a grandmother a mother and a girl who was born with wings the girl was and then her mother and her grandmother also have something special about them and just their stories and it's Jerry it's a whole generational thing and I loved it when I first read it so I definitely think that going back and exploring it more would give me even more to on with it so one of the favorites that I want to revisit comments below it let me know some favorites of yours that you want to revisit soon so thank you
