**My Favorite EDC (Every Day Carry) Items**
Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. Today I'm going to be talking about some of my favorite EDC items that make my life easier when I'm on the go.
First up, we have the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. This camera is super cool because it has a gimbal on top, which makes all of your footage look really smooth and not shaky. Plus, with the gimbal, you're able to Vlog with it selfie-style in full quality while being able to monitor what the camera is seeing. This is a huge quality of life improvement, especially over my iPhone 15 Pro Max.
For example, when I'm vlogging out in the field, I don't have time to second guess myself, and having this camera makes me feel way more confident. Plus, it's not just for vlogging - it's also great for recording video on the go. The results speak for themselves; this has been my favorite camera purchase of the year, and was the workhorse behind some of our channel's biggest videos.
Next up, I have a pouch from Tom Talk that houses a bunch of my tech odds and ends. At first glance, it might not seem like much, but each individual item is pretty useful. For example, I have a USBC dock from Anchor, as well as a Backbone USB-C cable. The fact that the anchor Gan Prime charger doubles as a 65W power bank with 10,000mAh hour battery capacity is pretty nice.
I also carry around an extra USBC cable, which is especially useful when you need to charge your devices on the go. And, I have a particularly short power extension cable that comes in handy when you find an outlet that's worn out. This little trick allows me to plug in my power bank directly into the outlet below an airplane seat and it will fall out almost immediately.
But, that's not all - I also carry around a set of rechargeable AAA batteries, mainly as a formality since I run into devices more often than not that need them. Each individual battery can be plugged with a cable, which is kind of quirky but also cool at the same time.
Finally, in the front pocket, I have a MAG safe SSD that attaches to my iPhone via USBC and also does power delivery, meaning I can record ProRes video without any issues while keeping my phone charged. And, in the back pocket, I have a small dot bag that contains all sorts of non-tech items, like face wash, hand lotion, lip balm, lens wipes, and more.
Overall, these are some of my favorite EDC items that make my life easier when I'm on the go. Let me know what your favorite items are in the comments below!
WEBVTTKind: captionsLanguage: enlately I've been in the market for a new backpack and with some trips coming up on the horizon I think it's the perfect time to show you guys what my travel SL everyday carry looks like for 2024 let's Jump Right In first I'd like to start with the bag that I actually landed on it's called the beta backpack from k&f concept if you haven't heard of these guys before basically they make all kinds of camera accessories but I was kind of surprised to see them make a bag that looks this good that also checks a ton of boxes as well and here's the real kicker though I was able to buy this off of Amazon with my own money for only $80 that's a pretty good deal but is it any good something that struck me immediately with this bag is how high quality Everything feels the choice of materials is rather nice especially on the outside side it feels almost like cordora which is durable and should offer decent protection from the elements the straps buckles and hooks also feel substantial and the build quality is proper plus it's also quite comfortable on your shoulders as well open this flap and you get access to the beta's two main compartments totaling 20 L of capacity and I must say that it makes good use of that space just like most camera bags it comes with velcro dividers that allow you to customize your own layout and there's even a pouch for a 15-in laptop now if there's anything I don't like it's that it could offer more direct access to its main compartments the fact that you have to undo this flap every single time can be annoying especially in situations where you're rushing or need to frequently get into to it definitely keep this in mind though at least for how I use the bag and for my own personal thresholds this hasn't been a deal breaker and might I remind you that once more this bag is only $80 and I do think you get a lot of value for that price okay so that's the actual backpack but what do I actually carry in it there are a bunch of Essentials I like to take with me to my destination among them is this my 14in in M1 Max MacBook Pro that I've had for a few years it's been covered plenty of times on the channel and for good reason not only do I use this a lot for researching and writing videos but it is also a video editing Workhorse with insanely good battery life that's very handy when I'm away from home so this is all reliable but I do travel with some extra support items to make the experience a bit more cozy espe especially when I post up at a cafe or in my hotel room first I'd like to talk about this it's called The Orbit key nest and it's essentially a desk organizer that's easy to take around I really like the design of this it almost reminds me of a Bento Box pull the elastic band and lift the lid to reveal all of the accessories in here and it's all neatly organized I have a USBC fast charger this one's from green and it's rated to do up to 100 W meaning when I plug it into my MacBook it'll charge from 0 to 100% in about 90 minutes which is really neat on top of that it's also very tiny and has three ports at that to the left I have some additional ssds this is a Thunderbolt drive from sain it is so fast and I also have a SanDisk Extreme as well both of these together give me roughly 3 terb of additional space which comes in handy especially if I need to dump media from cameras for video editing later on and I also have a very tiny USB 4 cable that helps keep the whole setup neat and tidy on the top right I have this rather interesting looking mouse that I bought off t-u this is from a video a few months ago and while I kind of dinged it for not having much of a a clicky feel the fact that it is silent is pretty nice especially when you're using it in public and I think it's tactile enough especially in the context of being on the go on the bottom right I have a pair of headphones including the Galaxy buds 3 Pro which have honestly been neat to hop between a bunch of my devices including my MacBook my iPhone and of course the side daily driver Android that I've been using the Galaxy Z flip 6 I like the look of them even though they are reminiscent of a certain Apple wireless headphone but regardless they also sound great too and I think they'll be living in this organizer for quite a while to the left of that I have a pair of wired ear pods these are more for desperate use cases when I'm using devices that might not have Bluetooth connection apart from that I just have some USBC charging cables nothing all that special but this is a really good segue to one of my favorite features about this orbit key Nest when you plug it into Power this part right here turns into a wireless charger look at that this is honestly a really neat design because now not only is this an organizer to house all of the stuff that would normally be floating around on your desk but it also serves as a neat tray for other things as well not only will it WI wirelessly charge your phone but now you have a cool place to leave your wallet or your keys but I'm going to be real that's not even my favorite part about this I already showed off one way to open up the nest which is like a clamshell but there's actually a mechanism built into this that lets you split the top and the bottom so that you can independently use the top tray as that wireless charger and a valet for your things while also giving you full access to all of your accessories man I love this thing a lot the only downside that I can see with it however is the price because this guy costs about $125 yeah you heard that right if you are looking to pick one of these bad boys up you are paying some serious minimalistic tax or some very Hefty fees for R&D The Nest is certainly not for every one but for the way that I specifically want to organize my desk and my travel setup can actually fit very well moving right along something else that I like to use with my MacBook while I'm traveling is a Bluetooth keyboard and this one in particular is super cool it's called the newy air 65 V2 not only does it look nice but it's relatively thin especially considering that it is a low profile mechanical keyboard it's got all of the connectivity between USBC 2.4 as well as Bluetooth and I feel like this keyboard was actually made with MacBooks in mind kick the feed up underneath and if you place the air 65 just right on top of the MacBook keyboard not only is it not going to move around all that much but you can actually type on it as if it was the actual MacBook keyboard 86 words per minute that's honestly not too far off with how fast I type on the stock MacBook keyboard but where the newy really wins out is in its tactility I love the feel I love the sound these are things that I miss when I'm away from my desk that you don't get with a normal laptop keyboard obviously I'm not going to use this guy for everything but it is nice to have on hand especially if I know I'm going to be posted up somewhere for a decent amount of time before we continue on I want to thank magical AI for sponsoring this portion of the video magical ai's no build automations allow anyone to effortlessly speed through boring repetitive tasks saving users on average around 7 hours per week using their browser extension first I got started by automatically filling in online forms then I used it to SC scpe my Amazon cart filled with items that I actually needed to buy for this video and turned it into a spreadsheet to help keep track of my expenses and of course it's helpful for generating replies to messages and emails as well no matter how big or small the task magical AI helped speed things along so that I could actually focus on doing the things that I want to do if you would like to know more and support the content we make here on Dany check out the link in the description below it's absolutely free to get started huge thanks to magical AI again for sponsoring this portion of the video and now back to our travel Tech Okay cool so I've talked about all of the big things but these right here are all of the little guys the odds and ends that are still very important to me when I'm traveling whether it's for work or personal because as a YouTuber it's never one or the other it's always a bit of both for example even though my trip to Tokyo at the end of the month is more a personal vacation than work I'm still bringing a camera with me because who knows I might want to film a Japan video while I'm there since you guys seem to like them so much and especially when it comes to vlogging out there this is my camera of choice the DJI osmo pocket 3 this one in particular is the full beans Creator combo which comes with a hard shell case as well as a wide angle lens this whole entire bag a battery attachment which increases the battery life of this thing and a wireless microphone that syncs directly to the camera itself now why this guy is super cool is because it has a gimbal up top which makes all of your footage look super smooth and not shaky plus because of the gimbal you are able to Vlog with it selfie style in full quality while being able to monitor what the camera is seeing this is a huge quality of life Improvement especially over my iPhone 15 Pro Max because while I think that device shoots better looking video out of its main camera the fact that the screen is pointing away from me means that I don't know what my framing or exposure looks like and when I'm Vlogging out in the field I don't have time to second guess myself this camera is a huge confidence boost when I'm out shooting in public which is already kind of a daunting thing to do and on top of everything because I'm normally a oneman band when I'm traveling for shoots I really do like that the pocket 3 has excellent subject tracking meaning when I plop it down on a tripod and talk to it even if I'm moving around I can rest assured knowing that it's keeping me in frame it's almost like having a built-in cameraman in this tiny package that don't sound right at all hands down this has been my favorite camera purchase this year and was the Workhorse behind some of the Channel's biggest videos including the tech Mall tour in Taiwan and most importantly the tour of Yodo Bashi Akiba in Tokyo the results speak for themselves next up I have this pouch
